The protests are spreading across America and the world. Back up your talk and take your angst to the streets. Thumb this shit up - it's important as fuck.
CLASH not "CRASS"! ARROGANT not "IGNORANT"! PUNKS not HIPPIES!
FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK! FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK! FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK! FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK! FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK! FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK! FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK! FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK! FIGHT CRASS NOT PUNK!
I am a bit confused... Crass is encouraging an end to anti-racist demonstrations, behavior and attitude? Or is this just a criticism of that, and they believe that such action is either ineffective or pointless? I believe in anti-racist action, and the defense of human beings from racist violence/oppression as well as the education of anti-racism being spread. But if this causes unwanted or uncalled for violence, then it is pointless... could someone please clarify the song's intentions?
@DilbertHernandez I think all the bullshit about racism and stuff is a total nonsense, all people are the same racists in mind don't mind their color or whatever , blacks, whites, everybody, I've met many blacks who were racist, so who the fuck cares about racist/ antiracist/ who the fuck knows what shit-ist demonstrations?! All the stuff around this shit it's just a bloody brainwash nothing else. I fuck this shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@yosarian84 Meh, I disagree. I mean if you think racism is total nonsense and doesn't ever cause any harm, look at fucking slavery man. Look at the holocaust. Of course today that isn't going on, but those examples go to show what that sort of hate can breed.
@DilbertHernandez This is what I’m talking about, racism is just an artificially created expression which represents some really existing feelings but in this universal form (when expressed by the word “racism”) it is easy to misuse (and there are lots of people who do that today with pleasure). It’s just a fucking tool for those in power or for many minorities which misuse this word on a daily basis -he is racist, you are racist, everybody is a racist – bullshit, I’m fed up with that.
@yosarian84 Racism isn't an artificially created expression, history has proven that people do hate others based on race. Yes, the term gets misused over and over, and it has become somewhat of a useless term considering that, but there is not doubt that it exists. I don't think Crass was trying to say racism doesn't exist, I think they were saying to rid yourselves of the wanton violence it can create. There was probably more "anti-racist" violence then there was "racist" violence at he time
@DilbertHernandez People do hate others because of their race but it’s individual stuff, inside every one of us. But the worst examples of racism in history involved masses not individuals. Who do you think enslaves „a whole races of people“-an individual?! It has to be a whole concept to make it possible. That’s why I hate when somebody uses the word “racism” or goes to some anti-racist demos, etc. He’s dealing with the same concept as the leaders in history who enslaved or murdered millions..
@DilbertHernandez .. of people. They simply use this fucking word and the whole concept, make the whole stuff visible and awake the monster which lies behind it. It’s always idiots like this with their unhealthy involvement who cause the worst shit.
@DilbertHernandez All I’m trying to say is if you start to play this racist –antiracist game, you just become a part of the whole shit and you just make it a circle with no way out. I ignore this artificially boosted shit, don’t go to some debil racist or anti-racist demonstrations or whatever and leave this for the idiots who wants to go with the flow and don’t think.
@yosarian84 Well now it sounds like that's what you're trying to say. Racism exists, but blowing it out of proportion and causing unnecessary violence over it is useless. But trust me, it exists. Living in Alabama for three years, hearing kids say "I hate black people" or "I hate white people" and seeing Confederate flags everywhere...
@DilbertHernandez As to the holocaust, that was a prime example when the system did misuse this fucking construct to kill millions, it’s a really dangerous piece of bull shit. There are racists all around the world, white racists, black racists, so it doesn’t even make sense to call them like that when it’s a natural attribute for all people in general. It’s a dangerous construct and a simple but powerful tool for many idiots.
Yeah, CRASS are still relevant, but why did you feel the need to have a fake-believe millionaire (highlighted for fuck's sake!) in your otherwise nice slideshow vid?
Now i realize that Crass influences the todays punk bands Anti-Flag , with that song , its fuckin clear that crass is the bigger influences of ANTI-Flag
Not into endless global pacifism, wich is kinda impossible if you think, if someone wanna attack me i'll not stay in a corner let it be. As long as i won't attack anyone for any reason. But they have a 360 degrees perspectives about the social plan.
I have more respect for this band than e.g. Sex Pistols with their anarchy in the UK. They only used the anarchy-label to be provocative, where this band seems more real and honest. More anarchistic than most of any other punkband (not to say all, I'm not 100% sure), because they reject every kind of authority, not just the one from the top. truly interesting band...
@BearWindAppleyard Well i think Anarchy in the UK was satire against the maindlles violent rioters who don't really understand anarchy, but ya Crass are the only who really seems to be anarchists.
@evanescent25 I think they just went for shock appeal, and "Anarchy" works better than words like "chaos" I guess... and also because it's like an anti-ideoligy like a-theism and anti-christ, an-archy.
@BearWindAppleyard you're so right, been in the scene for 25 years and this band was always in a class of its own, freedom thru anarchy is the only freedom we'll ever know, but not here, not now, HA HA HA!
@BearWindAppleyard they have a movie called there is no authority but yourself and it shows their house and they talk about the band. its very interesting and they definatley live anarchist
who needs guns and shit when crass tells the story first

Read a recent interview with Steve Ignorant. He was actually a Clash fan despite this song, and a huge fan of Joe Strummer.

@yosarian84 I'm not talking about the petty use of the word... enslaving entire races of people is a completely separate concept.
