I remember AGES ago seeing an astrovan with 12 woofers (not even some fancy expensive long throw things) hit 147db at 40Hz with (get ready for this - a single old Orion 225 HCCA on the bass. Thats like 400w. The key is maximizing efficiency and minimizing cancellations.
