I heard this at a concert a long time ago, and I didn't know what the title of it was, but the first few lines have been playing through my mind ever since.
I really want to sing this song in our middle school choir. We tried last year but we had too many people burst into tears. This song is absolutely beautiful.
@jaclynhagan yeah; our director decided that instead of reading the poem that was provided to us, some members of the choir should submit poems of their own and use the best one
the author of the poem that was chosen is reading it here
We are singing this in my college choir and I just think it is the most beautiful song I have ever sung with my choir. It tells of everything that is happening to children and family form all over the world. I can really feel the pain in the words as we sing them out loud. I just pray that one day everyone and everything will be okay and I know that they will one day in Heaven.
South Carolina's All-State is doing "For The Sake Of Our Children" this year, and I'm on the verge of tears every time when we learn a new part to this song. It's beautiful, and the images in your slide show are great. What gets me the most is slide of the presumably, Darfur(?) child.
@SarslyKayStar For our concert during the prayer section we had everyone write a poem and one of our members read it. and i was always SOOOO choked up. i sing bass 2, and whenever we came back in after i could barely sing cause iwas trying not to cry.
@singerguy93 the best part of the whole thing is probably during the chorus. but i love when it goes into the SSAA and TTBB sections. absolutely beautiful.
I cry every time I hear this... so beautiful. <3
