Turkey has many minorities there are many descendants of refugees from the balkan and caucasus. All Circassians migrated from caucasus to Turkey when their country was conquered by russians in 1864.

But majority of Turkey are still the anatolian turks and besides many of these refugees and kurds have married with turks because they are all muslims.

The kurds are 12-14 million. there are different kind of kurds. many kurds have assimilated to turkish culture most of them dont speak kurdish.

Turks started to come after 1071 AD to Anantolia but before, they were already living in todays Iran and south caucasus.

they were nomadic they lived in a winter camp and a summer camp. In the summer they went to mountains in the winter to plains.

They came to anatolia to find a new homeland and later mixed with the local population. Turks had already conquered most of anatolia in1081. later they lost some area.

BUT, Anatolia was only 10% greek. Turks were 70% and 10% were other muslims the rest was armenian and jew. What I mean is anatolia was more than 700 years an area where turks where everywhere the majority. Only in the cities of smyrna and istanbul Turks were 50%.

In 1918 there were 3 million greeks in greece and 1,5 million in Turkey. There were 14 million Turks in Turkey and 0,5 million in greece.

No why dont you understand? Smyrna was a ancient city and people lived there for a very long time. but it became a ruin later. in the middle ages it was a village. later Turks came and became majority.

The city growed under Turkish rule after 1550 AD. All the greeks came from the islands. All those buildings in the pictures are built after 1800. Turks were 50% in 1915. Greece should have never attacked Turkey. that is the problem.

history you will find out that Kemal was not 'responsible for the eradication of 3.5 millions'.

Most of the Armenian Genocide happened earlier during WW1, the majority of Greeks were exchanged after a treaty in 1923. I appreciate your good intentions, but get your facts right to avoid easy criticism.

Kamal started to organise chet groups in 1910, in North-eastern Anatolia (Armenia and Pontus) thus the Armenian genocide and the Greek-Pontians that took place in 1915 is a result of the Kemal's nationalism. Most Greeks were exchganged in 1924, but around 800.000 had already been expelled (or killed-more than 300.000) in the catastrophy of 1922.
