You have to have 5 stars on your file for this to work, but yes it works.

@MyAndThen no. you have to beat the game: 1 star. beat every level: 2 stars. get all the secret exits: 3 stars. get all the star coins: 4 stars. have all of this unlocked: 5 stars. hope this helps!

@georgemushu are you sure? because if you have all fire stars on the main menu to mushroom houses should have a blue "cleared" circle instead of a red one.
