I had the same mindset as you...willing to give up anything for the next X months in order to continue nursing. My daughter was allergic to cow's milk protein, causing a full body rash. Mostly "hard core" dairy. :) It IS like quitting smoking...and I stopped dairy from 2 weeks to 12 months with her! 4 months later, I am having a hard time going back to dairy, though my body is craving it! They make SOY EVERYTHING! Good luck! Almond milk....Mmmm.
I have a great frozen yogurt shop in my neighborhood that serves lactose free frozen yogurt choices. Most of them are fat free too, so that's a bonus. Check out your neighborhood yogurt shops and ask if they have any lactose free yogurt. That should satisfy your sweet tooth. That or some fruit... good luck, because I couldn't live without dairy!
they do make soy cheese. I am a vegan (psuedo...lol) and there substitutes for pretty much EVERYTHING! I do not bf, so I do not know anything about that. Be careful with some of the vegan cheeses, some of them taste bad. I usually go with the shredded cheddar kind...it tastes the most like the real thing.
Stay strong! It will be hard to cut them out at first but you will get used to it. It will only be for a short time. Hopefully it helps and you can start reintroducing dairy between 6-8 months.
Her poops weren't great when i was breast feeding. and so we called the advice nurse are her doctors office and they said to put her on soy formula. that didn't help so we had to take in poo samples to her doctor and they tested it for like intolerance or something. we switched her to the expensive stuff before we got the results back, and they improved right away.
aw, that's tough! I wish I could give you more advice, but I have no clue. I hope you figure things out and that Deacon feels better through out the day! I just notice that Leah gets fussy after I have chocolate...but I read that baby's don't like it. I started having, once a day, a small piece of dark chocolate and noticed she's a bit uncomfortable. Well see. Anyway, hopefully you could do a follow up video on how everything goes!
That is exactly what I had to do when my son was born. He was so colicky and fussy in the beginning, so I had to eliminate dairy. He was sensitive to the dairy protein. Recently at 4 months old I have slowly been reintroducing it back into my diet and he has not been fussy at all. I was told he would grow out of the dairy sensitivity by 6 months. It sucked not being able to drink milk, have ice cream and cheese! But once the dairy was out of my system he was SO much better.
I eliminated dairy just recently. It took a few days to notice a difference. I do not avoid dairy baked in products, I just avoid milk, cheese and yogurt. I do think they make soy cheese, you prob have to go to a speciality store (like a organic market or vegetarian store).
Hope it makes a difference for you. I know it made a world of difference for me.
I've heard you say you really like chocolate...=) That may be what is causing the fussiness....I have had to eliminate milk(drinking and cereal), onions, mustard, tomatoes, spices, chocolate, and so far that is it. Maybe just keep up with what you are eating, and when you nurse and he is fussy, that is what is needing to be eliminated. Hope that all made sense and hope that helps! OH, and I can still eat regular cheese and my daughter never had colic but was fussy after nursing sessions...
OMG- I am the biggest chocoholic!!! It's so my thing! I have dessert at LEAST twice a day... after lunch and dinner- and that at the very least. I just love to bake... that doesn't help! I did try 3 days without it when he was about a month old and it didn't make a difference. Thanks for the other list of things. I will try those if this doesn't help.
And good idea with the being fussy while eating- is that a big indicator?
Thats great to hear about the cheese... Gosh, there is hope!
I LOVE my desserts too girl! Haha! I just look for sweets without chocolate in them. =) Like a white cake cupcake with white frosting...lol! OH YEAH, I can't have ice cream either. BIG NO NO! =( Soo sad...It's for a good cause though...haha! Yeah, about 20 minutes after my daughter eats is when I can tell I've eaten sometime bad. For example-today I ate fried pickles...and yeah, NO MORE FRIED PICKLES! hahaha

Kennedy is allergic to milk protein AND soy . so she's on a special formula thats like 25 bucks per small 12 oz can.
its called nutramigen (i might of spelt that wrong)
but it worked like magic for her.
her poos were green water before and would shoot across the room (like 2 feet) lol.

Thank you! That really gives me hope! Did you find some yummy dairy alternatives?

I love chocolate milk and I tired the Silk chocolate milk and it was actually really good! Also the Silk Live yogurts were good too!
As for cheese I would have a tiny slice of regular cheese every once in a while.

Well--THAT sucks!!! I don't know too much about this topic---but there ARE soy cheeses available----sliced, chunk, cream---all kinds!
Also---it is supposed to take up to a week for the dairy products to clear your system once you eliminate them!
amishhorse 2 years ago
Good to know!!! THANK YOU! I am glad to hear that about the cheeses! I'm already having withdraws!
Perfect, so hopefully I will know within a week!
Thanks!

Awesome! I am just hoping to see a change soon. That helps... so was your baby just fussy a lot? or certain times? or all day?
I'm thinking and hoping Whole Foods?
Thank you so much!!!

Sorry it took so long to reply, I just figured out how to reply to comments...
