  • so.... which pixel is supposed to be the helicopter?

  • HAHAHA FAIL

  • in german navy...never crashed a sea king on deck....

maybe the other need better pilots :P

  • Impossible , the only navy in the world which can approaching the bridge at sea state 6 is the canadian navy and we have several crash with the same helicopter. I suggest you to watch a video from the past decade of the Canadian navy old bird CH-124 with the beartrape. watch?v=T6Gn3A-6zik

  • @SmithFromSheffield In german navy... never lost a war... o wait.

  • @SmithFromSheffield Pathetic ubermensch! Look: Germany tried 60 years ago to prove they are the best, but the British, Americans and Russians kicked your ass so hard. Now realise that you aren't the best and get a life.

  • @Svenneke78 Realize that Germany fights against the half world and now get a life ..

  • Malaysian army used this chopper, dude after so many crashes they decided to used agusta westland choppers which has up to date system lol..

  • All our Sea Kings in Australia were grounded

  • this was no pilot error! Tail rotor failed.

  • chopping chopper

  • This was an HC-2 aircraft (Desert Ducks). All survived and the cause was the coupling that failed. It is located right were the IGB is at the hinge that allows for folding of the tail-rotor. Not a whole lot you can do when you have loss of tail rotor thrust. Lower the collective and pull the speed selectors off (Engine controls).

  • At least someone knows wot they are talkin about.. Such a kick in the teeth for the pilot definately IGB or TRGB with no drive.

    *ex ROYAL NAVY aircraft mechanic*

  • i wonder if the pilot survived

  • Tail rotor shaft failed! unrecoverable. Period.

  • Da ist wohl einer durchgedreht, ha!

  • poor guy

  • He was doing fine and crashed a few seconds later...

    What a shame.

  • better luck next time -.-

  • Very interested comments.

  • so people say there was a gust of wind, can the sea king perfectly hover in wind anyway

  • It looks to me like the tail rotor fails. Very sad.

  • Wow!Did they dead?

  • i think we need to brush up on our military aircraft technology

  • It was a Canadian Sea King and if memory serves 3 guys were killed.. and was a mechanical malfunction that caused the crash.. rotor I think.. these Copters are a piece of shit..and crash tons.. we have lost a few of them since the original purchase.... for every one hour of flying time it takes 3-4 hrs maintenance..

  • Actually it is 30-40 hours maintenance for every hour of flying time.

  • no its nots my friend lol I crew on ch-47D and also UH_60's and its is usually 4-5 hrs for every flight hour. Depends on the condition. I know while I was in Afghan that number dropped

  • its 30 hours inspection per hours flight..not 4-5 hours..

  • This is bull s#$t dude....I have worked on the seaking (actually this one shortly before this). Also, for a heli-logging op that flies the civil version (S-61)....we logged 10-12 hrs a day, everyday .... hardest work you will ever do with that machine. Now by your calculations thats about 300-400 hrs of work a night....2 guy crews...figure that out and get back to me!!

  • The helicopter design is not a peice of shit. They simply reached their service life a long, long time ago and should have been out of service many years ago.

  • Get your story right dude ... US Navy seaking ... all surived ... awesome helicopters!! There is nothing out there to fill its role. There are a ton of this aircraft in the civil world that are servicing offshore oil rigs, airliners, heli-loggers, firefighters .... virtually exact same heli, with no problems. Almost perfect safety record...you tell me where the problem is .... Military.

  • Looked like some strong wind gush surprised the pilot.

  • Tail rotor failed. Impossible to recover

  • I'm no kind of expert, but that looked like wind shear.

  • Also the ship was moving foward.

  • that was dumb! they really should think about new landing approaches, since this kind of crashes happenes a lot! how the dude is alright though

  • The problem there is the sea. I trust those pilots skills are good, bet you never know about the sea, cos that bitch is dodgy. You know, waves and stuff. The ship movement is also sometimes unpredictable.

But anyway, it's the speed that should have been much slower.

  • Look dude. The tail rotor failed. Impossible to recover. it had nothing to do with the aproach

  • when did this happen?

  • Look at the picture, son, 01-05-02.

So I guess it was in 2002

    I hope the crew survived
