On another note, taking L-Dopa, a precursor to dopamine, can actually cause one with Parkinson's to have MORE tremors at rest. Rush is dumb.

Diane Rehm has a voice that is hard to listen to (other ways of putting it that are less subjective but it boils down that) yet she has a job as a host in public RADIO. I imagine, this is going to raise some ire, but at what point does your disability disqualify you from a job in the public sector? (Please note, I agree with Diane and think she is very intelligent.) If she worked for a private radio station, her ratings would be the judge.

I am far from perfect never said I was, relax. I don't feel the need to be so accommodating as to give a radio show to someone who can't speak fluently. The truth is Diane can't hold a conversation. She is difficult to understand and maybe she could find another medium for her intelligence. Give someone else a go at talk radio. It's not the end of the world for her, it's life.
the credibility of anyone making the kind of money Rush does should be suspect. the question is who is paying him? to whom does he owe allegiance? is it you, the listener, or is it a corporate interest? I heard an interview with Rush on NPR, believe it or not, and he outright stated that the thing that was most important to him was ratings. He would do/say whatever it took to get good ratings.

Who is Diane Rehm? When you put a video of someone noboday has ever heard of, you should put her title or a breif description of what she does. Diane Rehm does some of the best, most well researched and thought provoking interviews in media. Yes, I'd say even better than Howard Stern. She keeps doing it because nobody else can do it as well. She's not a DJ on AM radio. Her program is about substance, reasoned dialog, critical analysis of complicated issues... it's the ideas, not the sound of the words... information, not entertainment. This ain't country. OK ditto heads, lay it on me.

She all too often asks questions and then tries to lead her interviewee to an answer rather than letting them say what they really feel. Now remember also, she many times has experts on a particular subject matter responding to her questions and rather than just accept what they have to say she will still try and guide their response towards her beliefs on the subject.

I love diane rehm she was a part of my life when all i had to listen to was npr. However, I don't agree with her on everything. I hated rush at first too, but after listening for awhile - I began to understand his style and the way he gets his points across. I don't think he's self centered as he does a lot for charity (marine law enforcement, lymphoma, etc). I don't like his anti gay rhetoric, but find it less offensive than when the left accuses black republicans of being "house negroes", etc.

Initially misdiagnosed as benign essential tremors. After 3 years the diagnosis changed to Parkinson's. Current treatment is 9 mirapex tabs, 3 artane and 3 carbo/leva dopa per day.

Diane Rehm has a voice that is hard to listen to (other ways of putting it that are less subjective but it boils down that) yet she has a job as a host in public RADIO. I imagine, this is going to raise some ire, but at what point does your disability disqualify you from a job in the public sector? (Please note, I agree with Diane and think she is very intelligent.) If she worked for a private radio station, her ratings would be the judge.
There are plenty of hypothetical scenarios here.

Diane Rehm's show is available online, you should check it out-you might be surprised that the show is very balanced even though Diane's liberal side comes out every now and then.
One thing that sets her show apart is that it's very rare that she would take someone like Rush on. Most of her shows devoted to actual issues, not spending hours complaining about someone with different views.

Diane Rehm does some of the best, most well researched and thought provoking interviews in media. Yes, I'd say even better than Howard Stern. She keeps doing it because nobody else can do it as well. She's not a DJ on AM radio. Her program is about substance, reasoned dialog, critical analysis of complicated issues... it's the ideas, not the sound of the words... information, not entertainment. This ain't country. OK ditto heads, lay it on me.

She all too often asks questions and then tries to lead her interviewee to an answer rather than letting them say what they really feel. Now remember also, she many times has experts on a particular subject matter responding to her questions and rather than just accept what they have to say she will still try and guide their response towards her beliefs on the subject.

He wasn't mocking him - he was pointing out that Fox intentionally did not take meds to make his condition appear even worse. He did the "impression" to show the difference between when Fox was on meds, and when he intentionally manipulated people into thinking he was shaking horribly all the time. I love diane rehm she was a part of my life when all i had to listen to was npr. However, I don't agree with her on everything. I hated rush at first too, but after listening for awhile - I began to understand his style and the way he gets his points across. I don't think he's self centered as he does a lot for charity (marine law enforcement, lymphoma, etc). I don't like his anti gay rhetoric, but find it less offensive than when the left accuses black republicans of being "house negroes", etc.

Wow, judging by the vitriol by some of the commenters here it would seem that conservatives are a sensitive and whiny bunch.
The Rush fanboys are even worse.
They must be in fits seeing as how they lost the Congress and the American people despise their agenda. I would imagine that the continued wins of McCain, someone who Rush loathes, must be driving them to apopolyptic fits. The party they've controlled for so long has moved beyond them. That's gotta hurt.

How the hell would she know if the ad was real or an exaggeration? She sits in on a political action group meeting and from THAT she's able to make the determination that Fox was not exaggerating his symptoms????

Initially misdiagnosed as benign essential tremors. After 3 years the diagnosis changed to Parkinson's. Current treatment is 9 mirapex tabs, 3 artane and 3 carbo/leva dopa per day.
