There are a number of Channel 4 and indeed other broadcasters who make full use of this when doing their own review shows/programmes and then do not have to license any of the material they review as this is exempt from copyright law.

@luccaskunk -- I cut all of that film of Hancock's "Quest for the Lost Civilization" and replaced it with still images and audio. The film incurred the ban, but the still images and audio from the same film did not. This could be a straightforward copyright issue (which is odd, because the film can be seen elsewhere on YouTube) but more likely because Hancock is very sensitive to criciticism.

Until I saw this video, I had no real concerns or even focused awareness of this editing. I knew and appreciated editing for condensation and smoothness of the program, but not how interviews could be so drastically effected. Thank you for opening my eyes. Pot Holer! At the end you said MOST PEOPLE don't trust what they see on TV. I would add a proviso. They may not trust TV but that doesn't stop them from wanting to believe what they want to believe. Especially if the TV agrees. I'm sure you agree with me. Similarly, Advertisers are becoming more effective, despite people turning the TV ads off. So effective they make poor people in the UK feel so deserving of the good life they experienced a recent sense of rightful indignation and tucked in.

@omegafighters -- The video was blocked because it contained copyright material. Yes, I have a legal right to use this material for critiquing purposes. But YouTube prefers a blanket ban on any copyright material rather than go through each case individually.

In New South Wales it is an OFFENCE to cause animals to fight. Yet they proliferate on You Tube. As do videos of feeding lizards (etc) live vertibate (rabbits, chickens) animals. If I may bite the animal that feeds me, I would expect there are You Tube videos of someone feeding a live kitten to a Monitor lizard

@luccaskunk -- I cut all of that film of Hancock's "Quest for the Lost Civilization" and replaced it with still images and audio. The film incurred the ban, but the still images and audio from the same film did not. This could be a straightforward copyright issue (which is odd, because the film can be seen elsewhere on YouTube) but more likely because Hancock is very sensitive to criciticism.

When you get to this video via that website you should be able to see a link to the original to the right hand side. Click it. It opens in JWPlayer for some reason and may be a bit slow so just pause it to give it time to buffer...

Until I saw this video, I had no real concerns or even focused awareness of this editing. I knew and appreciated editing for condensation and smoothness of the program, but not how interviews could be so drastically effected. Thank you for opening my eyes. I will look a bit more critically at what I see from now on and hopefully, will see things a bit clearer. I should get lots of practice with the US presidential election coming up.

I'm reminded of an anti-pope documentary I saw on channel 4 by peter tatchell before the protest the pope march in London last year. When I recently saw a vid defending the pope with regards to the "protecting pedos" controversy, I checked some sources on Wikipedia and found he may not be as bad as the press made him out to be. I'd love to watch a potholer vid defending the pope against the press. That'd be weird and very interesting.

Good vid Potholer. A lot of people don't notice such things. I only found 5 out of 6 edits, and I didn't find them because I'm smart or anything, but because media in Croatia have the same tactics and you get used to it after a while... Keep up the good work, and I hope to see more of It!
