Oh dear me... why did you even try? Can't you just leave this story be instead of trying to do a low-budget student actor hack-job to the thing? I'm sorry, but this just doesn't work for me at all; they're all the wrong age, and their acting needs work desperately needs work.

Dude. This was a student project intended to give the kids experience with both the difficulties of literary interp as well as transferring a story concept to film -- a new medium for most of them. Sorry it doesn't meet your criteria, but they did a super job on the assignment and showed a lot of creativity.
