The 70's was good, so av not really got a problem listening to music that sounds like one of the best decades for music. Frankly, Wolfmother is fine enough, but they are very derivative and sound a lot like Billy Squier half the time (that is neither good nor bad, it just is). You may not like Patton, but he pretty much chose to ignore the fame he was garnering (there was a time when FNM was one of the bigger bands roaming the Earth, and they fought fame with ever weirder albums, much as Talk Talk did a decade before) and has by his own admission worked on projects he likes since. I don't think it's jealously.

Wolfmother aren't innovative thats for sure, but all bands and musicians derive something from the ones who came before. Am I wrong in saying Patton was influenced by other musicians? ACDC? KISS? Grandmaster flash? He combined different genre's, but was inspired by other people too.

@TheTruMetal Melvins have been sharing the stage with Patton long after they should have faded into obscurity, and the Trilogy, their finest work, brought them back in a big way thanks to Ipecac Records. I've seen Melvins members sharing the stage with Patton more times than I can count, so how you can even say their influence is still around and Patton's isn't is to ignore Fantomas completely and most of Melvins' best years, which were the last fifteen years with Mike Patton projects.

Frankly, Wolfmother is fine enough, but they are very derivative and sound a lot like Billy Squier half the time (that is neither good nor bad, it just is). You may not like Patton, but he pretty much chose to ignore the fame he was garnering (there was a time when FNM was one of the bigger bands roaming the Earth, and they fought fame with ever weirder albums, much as Talk Talk did a decade before) and has by his own admission worked on projects he likes since. I don't think it's jealously.

I've seen Melvins members sharing the stage with Patton more times than I can count, so how you can even say their influence is still around and Patton's isn't is to ignore Fantomas completely and most of Melvins' best years, which were the last fifteen years with Mike Patton projects.

Do you know how many different bands this guy has been in? Just cuz those shit bands (whom are long forgotten now, by the way) say they liked ONE of Patton's many bands doesn't mean he's responsible for their nonsense.
