  • The sparkly thing was cool , at least they dont have to get naked in this traditiony thing

  • While I dance I cannot judge.

  • So what, MissKari? :) A gorgeous Lady like Fatima shouldn't shy away from dressing the way she wants!

  • your dress is too shoooort...

  • she can have it, her legs are too beautifull

  • and if she have a beautiful brest she have to show it too??! it's not because her legs are nice that she have to show them. bellydance it's not strip tease or !!

  • you're just jaleous..cause you don't have nice breasts and legs

  • :D haha!!!!! bullshit!!!! NO, OF COURSE I'm not!! I'm a dancer too but my vision of the dance and the arabic culture is different...

  • I understand your point very well, but the truth is that belly dancing has always conflicted with religious ideas within the Muslim society. I do not want to destroy your illusions, but search for some older performances by e.g. Nagwa Fouad in movies even Suheir Zaki , and don't forget Dina, or other dancers from Turkey or Lebanon.

  • and you're not forced to be naked to be a good dancer...

  • hello dear, it is not untypical dansing Iskandaria in short dress!

  • I know I know but really, I find yours short...wathever,keep dancin' like you know, it's the most important.

    peace

  • Have you ever seen Dina and her dresses?

  • The smile and art give joy to the heart!

  • whats the name of the song???

  • majority of belly dancing songs are egyptian,,egypt rules

  • nice dance

  • The Meleya of the title is the 'veil' you refer to. Leff means wrap - the Egyptian girls would wrap themselves in this when they went out, for modesty.

The Meleya Leff is an Egyptian dance from Alexandria, a port, where a young girl, wrapped in her Meleya, flirts with the fishermen by wrapping and unwrapping herself with the Meleya in a teasing manner. That part seems to have been left out of this clip

  • Can't get enough of this divine creature!

  • Her gorgeous bare legs and feet....

  • she is too small

  • she is perfect, not to small!

  • She's entertaining; I miss the traditional garb though; it tends to make the moves/gyrations more fluid.

  • the veil to cover herself she is muslim

  • j arrive pas a comprendre vos critiques envers les danceuses marocaines qui sont si mechantes , envers elles , vous les traitees de putes et autres, lorsque il s agit d une poupee gonflable de l orient, c est de l eloge

  • excellent dance but what is she doing with that veil?

  • it´s a folk dance called meleah alef, that type of veil is part of the dance!

  • Can you tell me more about Meleya Leff? Where does it come from and what kind of dresses do they usually wear? I've just seen some vids where the dancers wear little veils infront of their face. What kind of dancemoves are characteristic???? Thanks in advance for any answer :)

  • Melaya Leff had been put on stage first by Mahmoud Reda. It is NOT a folkloric dance, but rather an invention for stage. There are two types, Alexandrian and Egytpian style. The idea is to conceal and reveal with the special heavy black veil. It is very flirtatious, fun, not sleazy. The woman can even use chewing gum in her mouth. Usually she wears shoes. The little veil infront of the veil is a burka.

  • thanks for your answer! Can anyone tell me the correct spelling of Meleya Leff and what does it mean? When was it invented? Thanks in advance :)))

  • @OasisforDance The little veil infront of the face is NOT a burka. It is called CHADOR or BURO. And the majority of the belly dancers who go to Egypt and I disagree with you. It was not invented. It is a folk dance that appeared in Alexandria and Cairo. In Alexandria they wear shorter dresses and in Cairo SOME belly dancers wear typical galabyies. Mahmoud Reda has only put on stage like you said, but it was not invented.

  • @refine7 I disagree with OasisforDance. Meleah Leff really is a folk dance. There are two types: one from Alexandria and one from Cairo. The one she is dancing in the vid is Alexadrian because of the short dress. In Cairo SOME dancers wear typical galabyies, but in both types they usually wear a meleah (big black veil) for dancing. They also wear shoes and the little veil in front of the face is NOT a burka. It's called CHADOR or BURO. I can tell you the history of this dance if you'd like to.
