  • Good god, my voice teacher want's me to sing this for an audition and I don't know if I can...

  • @Thawthorne09 be positive, with God and a lot of practice everything is possible. :) good luck, i'll sing it for my bachelor audition.

  • She makes it look so effortless... and here I am after my first voice lesson ever having practiced THIS song and I am beat!

  • I love her voice!!! :-)

  • Lovely! How I admire opera singers, beautiful work here.

  • beautiful, just beautiful

  • her voice is so pretty! :D

  • I love her facial expressions!!

  • Daaammn (:

  • même ma grand mere chante mieux

    ...

non je rigole c'est pas vrai

  • which key is this in??

  • @missbellacullen94 B-flat

  • @Tbnasib3 Not sure what you're responding to, but this is in F minor.

  • @missbellacullen94 It's in F minor, not B flat. :)

  • heyhaila09, I'm also learning this song with my voice teacher. I'm so nervous because I'm learning this song as one of my three songs I must perform for an audition to CALARTS, the private performing arts university in Valencia, California. As you said, Cecilia is brilliant as a colortura soprano and I hope I can sing as she does too. She sings with such expression and grace that I wish I can sing as carefree as she does.

  • wonderfull, watch at 2:05, how the pearl is shining next to her beautiful face. It reminds me on 'the girl with a pearl earring'.

  • Lady...why must you make my version sound like crap? x3 Love this <3

  • so young when she began, giving her life to her art...she is exquisite.

  • which key is this?

  • @Courtney6592 f minor :)

  • Im singing this in my voice lessons... Amazing piece :)

  • Ah! This is my audition piece for the American Choral Director's Association regional honors choir for 2012.

    Beautiful piece.

  • @wellheythereemma no way! me too!

  • This was my audition song for Districit Choir a couple years ago. Such a pretty song!! I might be the weirdest 18 year old ever cuz I'm from Missouri and I'm in love with opera and ballet :)

  • Words cannot express the feeling her voices gives me. :)

  • Maravillosa

  • im learning this song with my voice teacher. ive been looking up how to do the pronounciation and my god! she is truly amazing. every note, just perfect. i only hope to be as good as her one day

  • @heyhaila09 Just remember to let the accents flow. If its pushed it won't flow as beautifully. This song was my first solo piece.

  • J'adore cette chanson !Merci !

  • I just love you... Beautiful voice and sheere perfection in rendition. THANK YOU!!!

  • Bravoooooo!!!!!!!

  • Bravaaa..

  • *attributed to pergolesi....

didn't he seal it a little bit?

  • Aww. i love this song. I remember back when I sang it as a solo. never as nice as a professional tho. Ahh... brings back memories from high school.

  • Such perfect sense of pitch, such beautiful voice and superb expressions, makes listening to other lesser renditions almost like going through ordeals.

  • By far the best rendition ever heard!

  • I have new respect for you. I also love how you roll the r at the end of "Se tu m'ami." It's fantastic. You are fantastic.

  • Preciosa ària cantada por una grandisima bella vocce: C.Bartoli!

  • im playing this as a french horn solo!

  • Beautiful! Now I just need to figure out how to sing it for a contest...anger, depression? I get the meaning, but I feel you could go both ways...help?

  • @twilighthp its coy and flirtacious. thats how im being taught to sing it. agressive but playful

  • Do anyone know where is was this Concert?

    Thanks

  • Oh, THIS is how this song should be sung!!!! LOVE YOU CECILIA!!!!

  • who could possibly vote negative to this amazing interpretation from one of the most significant soprano of our times?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

  • @fakiso

    Mezzo-soprano, friend :)

  • this is Parissoti. Not Paroglesi!

  • @1123Annonymus this is Pergolesi.

  • excellent dramatic soprano!

  • why don't we get HER to sing the national anthem at the superbowl

  • @roman14032 Yeah! She would sing it properly. :D

  • @roman14032 she probably wouldn't want :P

  • @roman14032 because the national anthem isn't worth it.

  • @roman14032 i'm thinking the fact she is not american has something to do with it xD hehe but you have great singers too ;)

  • @roman14032 Jackie Evancho sang it at a Steeler's game and her mom said it would be her last so no SB for her now.

  • @roman14032 The Superbowl? come on, she deserves better than that.

  • @roman14032

    She's not American.

  • @roman14032 Agreed!!!!!!

  • can you all believe shes only 45?!!?!??!?

    i couldnt :O shes amazing

  • @Studdz04 she looks great for her age!

  • She makes it sound so easy !

  • I have to do this for UIL. I'm scared.

  • is she a mezzo-soprano or a contralto?

  • @gotgoosebumps SHe is one of the best mezzo-soprano on the whole world, she just amazing,

  • @gotgoosebumps shes a mezzo soprano. one of the best, accordin to my teacher. im doin this for an exam in may, tis gorgeous!!

  • @gotgoosebumps

she's a mezzo, ewa podles is a contralto.

  • i was gonna bring up the fact that the song is by parosotti and not pergolesi, but someone said it for me. thank you. you're smart. :D

  • @sakurasugoi i have the sheet music and it says it's by pergolesi. considering this and all the other places it's cited as being by pergolesi, i would assume it is his work...

  • @popstar7104 i have the sheet music as well, and it says that it is by parisotti. he attributed it to pergolesi for whatever reason, but it is not by pergolesi. look it up.

  • Aah, Cecilia owns this. I do not get tired of listening to her rendition.

  • Вне конкуренции!:) Bella voce!

  • I prefer it a tad faster, but she still has a marvelous voice.

The english lyrics to this are hilarious!

  • I really love her voice so much. I love listening to her sing. My teacher gave me this song to sing, it's not as easy as she makes it seem! Haha. I like the way she sings Nel Cor Piu Non Mi Sento too!

  • Crap ! I've the feeling that she does exactly the contrary of what my teacher asks me to do, well I have the feeling to make the same things, to be similarly mouth-shaped but I'm definitely not ! Singing is so hard ^^ Sometimes you just do not see what's wrong or what's right in your way of singing, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaah ! Let's go back to work !

  • @Elissea don't listen to your teacher, follow La Bartoli (cuz she's La Bartoli!)

  • @Elissea don't listen to your teacher, follow La Bartoli (cuz she's La Bartoli! Unless your teacher is Horne...)

  • Beautiful. I also performed this for several contests and auditions.

  • I love her facials. She's pouring her freaking heart out, man.

  • TRANSLATION PART 2

All men say of maiden folly, find no favour in thine eyes

Nor because I love the lily shall I other flowers despise.

If thou lov'st me, and sighest ever but for me, oh gentle swain.

Sweet I find thy loving favour, pitiful I feel thy pain.

Should'st thou think though, that demurely I on thee alone may smile.

Simple shepherd, thou art surely prone thy senses to beguile?

Simple shepherd, thou art surely prone thy senses to beguile?

    Prone thy senses to beguile.

    HOPE IT HELPS!

  • TRANSLATION PART 1

(makes it easier to show emotion!)

    Prone thy senses to beguile.

As a fair red rose, a lover fain might Sylvia choose today

Happily if she thorns discover 'tis tomorrow thrown away

    'Tis tomorrow thrown away.

  • This never fails to make me happy.

  • Love this song and voice...I've listened to it over and over and over again. Beautiful.

  • @napat14 when was this recorded? do you know?

  • i can't believe 12 ppl didn't like this...

  • Foda pra caralho!!!! Adorei

  • /derp. Was responding to another user. Anyways, that's my view. Singing this myself for a concert and college audition soon. Excellent song. The "pastorello, si sogetto" part is my favourite, personally.

  • Sang this for a competition about 5 years ago... was a fun piece to learn, but a bit hard to go from super low to super high. Great that the girl (who the piece is "narrated by", NOT THE PERFORMER), was a flirty/player girl. That made it even more fun! :D

  • so amazing i get goosebumps

  • No one could have a more beautiful voice!

  • without doubt my absolute favorite of Cecilia Bartoli. The CD where this track is listed on is also my number 1, 2, and 3 of Bartoli. The other CD's are great, really great, but this one jumps out (for me, personally) so high.... It can get me to tears nearly everytime I listen to it.

  • I love her voice... she is like considered a standard for all sopranos. Her voice has such lovely colors that sometimes sopranos have trouble finding, and harnessing in their higher register. I also love this song!!!

  • @kat8rawr ummm....she's a mezzo soprano

  • @baritonebynight most mezzo-soprannos can go both very high and very low, so her high notes could still count as a standard for sopranos.

  • @catdemonninja She's a mezzo soprano. Voice typing is not so much about range as it is about register events. For more information see Richard Miller's The Structure of Singing". or other vocal ped book.,

  • Cecilia Bartoli is... Phenomenal. <3

  • This song is suppose to have a sarcastic message, so she´s suppose to have a happy sarcastic face, not a sad face, this happens a lot when you hear a song in a minor tone, people quickly associate it with a sad song. But appart from that, she sang this song beautifully, like always.

  • incríblemente bien, no me agradó nunca la voz y el estilo de Cecilia B. ESTA ARIA ME HIZO DUDAR

  • i love this song :)

  • IS THERE ANY SHEET MUSIC AVAILABLE IN THIS KEY???!!! PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

  • I think she should record things with Vilazon. I believe they both has the same technique... they both move their mouths the same way

  • Preciosa voz y maravillosa mujer!!!

  • sooo captivating at full of emotion!

  • I'm singing this solo for some auditions this year.

I hope I can pull it off. :D

  • Very good !!

    Amy xx

  • MY LORD, HER GOWN AND HAIR ARE LOVELY.

    She has a wonderful voice.

  • i think she's the prettiest ugly women i have ever seen. and just listen to that voice!!! <3

  • i'm in the middle of learning this song, and now i see how fast it is..

  • @josephineissocool It's actually slow. A lot of people sing it fast. It's sixty beats per minute. Slow as a lullaby.

  • @KatelynNinja1215- I think going at different tempos can be fun. If it was at a steady beat the whole time it would be boring... :)

  • @bpondsinger And it's to who ever is directing's preference. Just. *sigh* Her voice. Is. Amazing.

  • Hey, another Katelynn! Haha.

Anyways, yes, it is supposed to be slow, but personally I think it sounds better if it's a faster tempo. Just with the range of notes going from high to low, it being faster gives it more color and dramatic flare. Plus, it's supposed to be a bit of a sarcastic song and you can't really get that with it being slow.

  • @SkaterPunk82 Nope! Just Katelyn! :D I love the way that she does this. The speeding up and the slowing down.

  • i love this song and this singer!

  • does anyone know what key she is singing in?

  • @Bellegerie Eminor

  • here voice is like pristine and fine-tuned instrument. perfect.

  • She is so amazing x) My voice teacher got to meet her once! They had the same agent in New York!

  • @hazelbaybie i met her twice!

  • @oliviasmulyan That's so cool!

  • @hazelbaybie yes and she was very very nice!

  • this song is a fun one to sing.

so flirty with a confident tone.

she does it wonderfully. she is engaged and believes she is the beautiful silvia.

i had the chance to sing this song in high school and enjoyed learning it. it gave me something to get in character for.

  • she is so beautiful when she smiled in the beginning.

  • I love this song! I want to sing this song next year for contest :)

  • Beautifuly done! I love Cecilia Bartoli! Im a mezzosoprano... it rare for my age.. im going to competition in new mexico at keller hall. Im performing danza danza fancuilla gentile and silver. I hope i do well. I try and practice my tecniqe while singing along with her!

  • oh from New Mexico im from New Mexico-and im familiar with keller hall its where we are jst before the 2nd audition for all state lol wuts your name? hopefully i knw you?

  • Cecilia is amazing! I'm totally captivated by her voice and presence. Bravo!

  • @jbrahms1833 I agree...however it is brava not bravo! Ciao

  • I love listening to her voice. Its so full of life. Some people sing just boring and with no emotion. You can "feel" her voice. A+ for this vid! : )

  • @stranger321danger

she's unbelievable. shes like a goddess. i try to imitate my singing as much as i can from her because shes so amazing.

  • @stranger321danger

i kno! Its all her facial expressions that brings the performance to life:)

  • The lyrics to this song are also very beautiful and poetic. Look up the English translation!

  • I get to sing this song for solo/ensemble! Yay!

  • omg me too!

  • me too! =) what are you? im alto

  • heh me too

  • i am a soprano 1 singer but my voice coach currently has me singing this song in mezzo soprano.either way its a beautiful peace to sing and to listen to.

  • :)

    se tu m'ami

  • I looooove this song (:

  • Perfect! This is the exact version of the song I needed! (I'm doing soprano 1) She has such a nice voice. :3

  • jawdropping beautiful voice

  • Wonderful! In case you didn't know. She is singing from the good old 24 Italian book which is a step lower that the 26 Italian med. high book

  • does she never open her eyes??

  • Okay, my music teacher goes WAY too slow on this, then I can't keep my breath!

  • Is this the alto part? Because this is my song for solo and ensemble and i'm an alto 1. Need help please!

  • i have the alto music on a cd for alto if you need it, i'm doing the same song in medium low range if you need it. i can try and post it

  • this is the mezzo soprano version, its in g major

  • Cecilia is singing in F minor actually, but there is a version in G minor as well.

  • well spotted, i was only lookin a the written key signature!! fabulous piece, glad i chose it 4 my exam!!

  • @roehrrunner

I am an alto and my pianist transposed it in D minor. Alto in general sings a tone lower than mezzo, so E flat could be the case or D, because then the voise stays round during performance. Ofcourse F is O.K but it may sound a little harsh.

  • Única no Mundo!

  • Cecilia!

You are the one and only Queen of Agility!

  • im learnin this now 4 an exam - luv it!! tough 1 tho!!

  • bravo, bravissimo

  • I love her voice, but I don't like her interpretation of this piece. I don't think she captures he playfulness of it well enough.

  • what year is it???

  • Que hermoso!!

  • Fantástica y única XD!

  • i have also performed this piece...i loved it and it was a great song...still remember most of it

  • Best!

  • Lords.. I can't believe my ears.. how i sing like her ... Impossible..

  • merci beaucoup tres beau

  • it's beautiful..

  • fantastic

  • Perhaps the lovliest mezzo of her time.

  • id do anything to sing as well as her

  • omg...flashbacks of music school! Flashbacks I tell ya!!!

  • This song was actually composed by Alessandro Parsotti (1853-1913), and was passed off as a song by Pergolesi.

  • Really? I didn't know that, my sheet music says Pergolesi...

  • Almost all of them do, because it wasn't until recently that it was found out to be Parisotti. He passed it off so well because the one who originally compiled and edited the 24 Italian Songs and Arias book, although it was acutally 3 volumes when he did it. It was then condensed down to the one we have today.

  • yeah mine says Alessandro Parisotti from the same book :):) my teacher gave it to me today and i absolutely love it

  • @lcsingin4christ I wouldn't believe it even if Parisotti himself confirmed it during a spiritualistic seance... the air is too good for a XIX century amateurish musicologist!

  • @Barbapippo Thats why so many believed it to be Pergolesi, because Parisotti passed it off so well. But its true, it wasn't composed by Pergolesi, and if you don't believe me, then just look it up yourself.

  • LOVE her! :-D

  • Io non t `amo !!!!

  • I love singing this song. Cecilia was my inspiration, as soon as I heard it I had to sing it! I love singing opera and this i believe might be my favorite :)
