If God is consciousness and nothing more, then explain to me how our universe was created out of a singularity? Shouldn't the universe tend to decay toward a state of chaos rather than order? Taking this argument several iterations further how is it possible that we are sentient beings, with free will I might add, if the process of entropy should dictate that we should have never advanced to our present state?
Consciousness is huge - it implies that we have awareness of our unique identity. And free will. I would suggest to you that only an omnipotent God can create this universe in all its complexity.
Really? Well I suggest your a nutcase. Where is your proof that 'God' just snapped his figers and 'PRESTO!!' the universe just appeared 'magically'. LOL
I suggest to you that there are cosmologists who see a parallel between the a priori before-Big Bang model (Penrose-Hawking model) and Genesis 1:1. No witchcraft at all, just science confirming the Word.
Far from it Mark. No where does science say ANYTHING about God, so therefore, its not proving 'his word', or anything even closely related to 'God creating the universe'.
Likewise, any type of theory that says something just 'magically apears' is more closely related to the concept of 'witchcraft' than science.
Please, tell me you have better points for your faith than just making up 'science articles' and other ficticious points. That's exactly how your religion got started.
Once again, there you go...placing God in yet another place you simply don't have a logical explanation for somethings existence/creation.
Why not just say 'The Flying Spaghetti Monster' created instead. It has the exact same amount of proof as assuming 'your God' created it....same type of 'magical creation' assumption..
Once again, your God, and your religion, is based on a big fat GUESS.
The Jesus-Sun God myth is nothing new - it was first proposed by historian Bruno Bauer in the 19th century. Where it fails is that it is based on the premise of Jesus as a mythological figure who was a composite of personalities.
Biblical scholars as well as most classical historians agree that Jesus was a real person -- God in flesh -- who walked the earth based not only on the 4 gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Pauline epistles but also upon the writings of Josephus (already discussed), Tacitus, and Suetonius.
Lastly, the Apostle Paul was born a Jew and became a Roman citizen. He witnessed to the gentiles and preached that we can still love God and yet embrace other cultures. So why the hang-up on the Hellenic "Iesous" over the Hebrew "Jehovah"? It doesn't bother me one bit, lol!
Much of Paul's writings have become historically proven out from Gallio in Corinth, to the works of the law. Not a thing a person would make up to control, or to make a 'hero' out of. It's just a logically unsound argument - and only profferred or sought by those who are against Christians.
Paulism, IS Christianity. There is no distinction. You have some interesting questions, and it's great that you study - and can ask them.
Quite the contrary...a hero figure was the main purpose. Especially one that could fill in the holes left by the OT. It's not 'Christianity' if it was in Paul's rules, not Jesus's, although we're talking semantics of the worst degree since Jesus was not a real person, but only a character in a heroic play, based on astrology.
Why would somebody "invent" a hero with so many flaws? Why would this fictional person be written about in many other writings? Why does Paul describing what it's like to be a follower of Jesus, make a person not a follower of Jesus teachings?
What Jaxsmommy? Are you saying Jesus has flaws? No way, I can't believe my eyes...you bad bad Chrristian. LOL
Ironically jaxs, the writings from the NT, speaking of for a 'play' in which it was intended, is actually quite complete minus a few flaws in the heorical context. They wanted a hero to comeplete the missng fullfillments of the OT. If you look at the book as a 'novel' instead of a doctrine/dogma, its even more interesting.
I'm saying Paul had flaws. The "New Testament" is not a book, but a collection of writings and letters over a number of years, throughout the near East. Thus, it is quite flawed to suggest it was written by one, at once, or any such accusation.
More flaws than you realize obviously. In all the Epistles of Paul, there is not ONE word of Christ's virgin birth! Was Paul unaware of it? For this, there can be only one explanation. The story of the virgin birth had not yet been invented when 'Paul' wrote. The backbone of the Gospels is devoted to miracles Christ supposedly did. NOWHERE in 13 Eps of Paul is any mention Christ ever performed ANY miracles. Even Paul attests that he NEVER saw Jesus. That's your religion - MAN MADE! LOL
It's good that you realize that it couldn't have all been written at once. But now you're contradicting - you said that the "virgin birth" was thousands of years old...now it's post-Paul. At any rate - Paul's letters aren't historical, but about application, and the new covenant, thus their inclusion, or non is not an issue.
I never said the 'virgin birth' was thousands of years old. The point was to show the contradictions and inconsistencies of Paul's claims of Jesus. In other words, if Paul NEVER EVEN SAW Jesus, are we really supposed to blindly accept his second hand account, of ANOTHER second hand account?
Any rational individual would seriously question ANY OTHER similar 'third party' claim, yet Christians never question Paul's credibility? That's religious brainwashing at it's best.
Given the religious mentality to never question these inconsistencies...It's no wonder there are still NO artifacts for the supposed life of Jesus. Apparently, even though Jesus was supposedly the SAVIOR OF ALL MANKIND and 'God incarnate'....they were just to stupid to get any of his personal articles, or ANY evidence for his life, other than their incredulous, illogical, and inconsistent and far-fetched claims.
Yeah - why didn't anybody take pictures. Of course there are 4 biographies, and other writings that are more historically available than any other historical writings. If the critics of the Bible dismiss the New Testament as reliable information, then they must also dismiss the reliability of the writings of Plato, Aristotle, Caesar, Homer, etc. etc. etc.
The only difference is...we KNOW those people lived, and we have artifacts from some of their lives....we have nothing for Jesus, the apostles, or anybody mentioned in the bible aside from the government body.
You did say the birth was a stolen idea. Paul did meet Jesus on the road to Damascus. Talk about brainwashing: did you meet the Pisos? Have you met Einstein? Have you met the writers of Alexanders legacy, that wrote the stories over 300 years later? I'm not sure why writing to people of how to apply a teaching is illogical. That's a new one.
Damascus Virginia? Obviously, you haven't read the 13 Epistles of Paul.
Have you met Paul? See, we can do this forever man...thats why SECOND HAND ACCOUNTS ARE UNRELIABLE. I suggest you take a logic class before you get walked on for the rest of your life Paravasi.
By the way, I hope you're not trying to say Einstein was a Christian, or a God believer...he was far from it.
In truth, all that any of us know for sure is that we are alive, aware and conscious....thats all, but, for sake of debate, are you saying we should believe everything we hear...and from third hand accounts?
If so, that makes you gullible and foolish (by definition, not my opinion)...and easy manipulated...which is the goal of religion....manipulation.
From beliefnetdotcom: Evidence for the Apostle Paul's existence is found in the following ancient literature. Clement of Rome cites Paul in his letter to the church at Corinth (c. 95 C.E.). Irenaeus (140-202 C.E.) cites Paul in his work "Against Heresies." There is also a description of Paul's physical appearance in the apocryphal work "Acts of Paul and Thecla." Then, of course, there is Peter's reference to Paul in 2 Peter 3:15 and Luke's discussion of Paul's ministry in the book of Acts.
Again, please prove that the Piso's wrote the New Testament with documented evidence.
I leave you tonight with this bit of advice from one of my favorite authors:
[19] Do not quench the Spirit; [20] do not despise prophetic utterances. [21] But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21)
No they don't. Only Christian scholars, or ones unaware of the sun god myths.
Once again, Josephus Flavius was actually Calpernius Piso, and the others only mentioned a 'Christ' or a 'Christos/Christus', which was a word dating back to the ancient Egyptian word 'KRST', which simply meant 'being anointed with the oil of a hippo'....it did not signify the name 'Jesus'.
From my research I can find nothing to support your claim that Josephus Flavius was Calpurnius Piso -- oh there is a lot of misinformation with unsupported assertions to this end, even that the Piso family "wrote" the New Testament to keep the masses down, man! Puhlease!
Yeah - I've always wondered how "giving to the poor, loving your enemies, helping the widows, turning the other cheek, loving others, putting others before yourself, you are loved and have value" are teachings that could be used to keep people down????
I never said there was not decent moral teachings in th bible. I still to this day follow many of them, but I ALSO understand it was'nt 'Christianity' that started 'moral understandings' and thought processes.
Born of a virgin on Dec.25th, had 12 disciples, crucified on a cross, died at 33, ministry at 30, teacher at 12,did miracles, walked on water, called the Alpha and the Omega, the Light of the World, Morning Star, heralded by the star in the east, 3 kings/wisemen/stars, raised on the 3rd day, etc etc etc...All concepts of sun god myths long before Jesus, of HUNDREDS of other 'sun of god' savior types.
Isis she was married to Osiris (not a virgin). Horus didn't have 12 disciples-and neither did Jesus. There's no proof Horus taught in a temple at 12, or claimed to walk on water. Jesus wasn't visited at birth by 3 wiseguys. It was much later, and by more than 3.
And on and on...
So you see - if you don't know anything about Jesus, and you will blindly believe anybody that writes anything to dispute Jesus - you can get quite off track.
I finally watched the video you suggested, Alan - 'Myth of Religion; The Solar Messiahs God's Sun Christ Horus'. I must say it was "interesting". As I watched, I took a few notes and listed the assertions made:
Cross of zodiac divides 4 seasons, equinoxes
God's sun, light of the world, 12 constellations (places of travel for sun, identified by names)
Horus (Egyptian Sun god, 3000 BC, born Dec, 25 to virgin Isis Mery, birth accompanied by star in the East, adorned by 3 kings, teacher at 12, baptized at 30 by Anup, 12 disciples, performed miracles, Lamb of God/the Truth/the Light/god's anointed son/good Sheppard, betrayed by typhoon, crucified, buried for 3 days, resurrected,
Astrological basis on Sirius alignment on Dec. 25, 3 "kings stars" during Winter solstice, Dec. 22-24 -- southern cross (sun "dies") then "resurrected" on 3rd day (Dec. 25)
I did some research on a few Egyptology sites on the Internet and came up with a vastly different picture than what was depicted in the video:
It seems that there is some confusion between the portrayal of Horus and the portrayal of his father, Osirus, as well as Re -- the sun god. First, Horus had many forms but was known mainly as the "god of the sky" who had the form of a hawk.
Born Dec. 25 to virgin Isis Mery? First, Dec. 25 was never mentioned in the Bible as Jesus' birh date. The early Christian church did not celebrate Jesus' birth. It wasn't until A.D. 440 that the church officially proclaimed December 25 as the birth of Christ. Secondly, it seems Horus' birth is actually supposed to be on the 31st day of the month of Khoiak -- not Dec. 25.
Born to "virgin" Isis Mery? C'mon Alan, that's stretching ol' Horus' conception there a bit isn't it? Osirus was killed with his body parts scattered and Isis, Osirus' sister and wife, found his penis and used it to conceive. I suppose the video producers are trying to make a point of the phonetic similarity between "Mery" and "Mary" but I could find no substantiation of this.
Star in the East (Sirius) accompanied by "three wise men"? First, from the sources I looked at, Osirus and not Horus was associated with Sirius and I could find absolutely nothing about the 3 king stars. I would be very interested if you are able to substantiate this claim.
Teacher at 12, baptized at 30 by Anup? Again, I can find nothing to support these claims. Please provide references to substantiate.
Performed miracle? Like most pagan gods, Horus is supposed to have performed miracles.
Called the Lamb of God, the Truth, the Light, God's anointed Son, Good Sheppard, betrayed by typhoon, crucified, buried for 3 days, resurrected? More like Horus was referred to as Great God, Chief of Powers, Master of Heaven -- not very convincing correlation with the names of Jesus. No evidence of him being crucified, buried and resurrected.
Based on my limited research, I'd say that the video producers should point out their references if they want credibility. Perhaps you can fill all of these obvious gaps.
Both Jesus and Horus were called many titles....but Lamb of God, The Truth, The Light, The Morning Star, Etc are are similarities. The virgin birth was not of a 'virgin girl' as I explained...It was because she was impregnated by the Holy Spirit, just as Mary was...do you really believe she was a 'virgin' and gave birth though? These are all astrological metaphors...get a grip people.
Isis was always married, with much phallic artwork. Never a virgin. There is NO original citation from Egyptian records that will state she was "MERI".
Jesus was also "Way, the Truth the Light; Messiah; God's Anointed Son; Son of Man; Good Shepherd; Lamb of God; Word made flesh; Word of Truth". You can claim that you don't like Jesus teachings, but to claim that He wasn't real, or was a Horus copy is just without merit.
Jeez, how many times do I have to say this....first, she was a virgin because the HOLY SPIRIT impregnated her...not because she was a 'vigin girl'.Second, ITS A MYTH...a 'made up story'!
Besides, does ANYONE really believe a girl can give birth without some kind of impregnation, namely by another male person? If so, they need some serious biology lessons and a good bit of therapy.
You will have to look over the heioglyphics, or a source book containing them...this is the most accurate account. As for dying on a cross, just as Jesus was never 'crucified on an actual cross) as stated in the Qu'ran, Horus death on a cross was the 'horizon' cross...it's all astrological people...come on, you should know this from the movie.
Glad you liked the movie....it's a well produced film forhow much info is contained in such a short peiod. For further explainations, google search 'zeitgeist the movie'....it is a more complete version, but with added topics.
First of all, the Jesus/Sun God myth paralells were obviously not first made in the 19th century if hundreds of other civilizations have started their own Sun God myth/hero story long before Bruno was even born.
Bruno, of which I have not read, does not fail in his assumption. But, the main point is this...Jesus WAS INDEED based on a Sun myth. Weither or not it was a compilation can only be answered by the author/s of the Jesus myth.
Firstly, where is it proven the universe comes from a singularity? But, if it was, this is supposed to be 'less believable' than if it just 'appeared' from nothing, as in the creationist's claim? Second, a 'decaying' universe wouldn't imply a 'state of chaos'.
'Your' concept of the universe is fully within 'your Consciousness'. This is how you have a 'personal relationship' with 'your God'.
I assume you also adhere to the belief that the banana is the 'atheists nightmare' as well? LOL
The universe is expanding, would suggest that it had a "starting point". Began expanding, or was created. It's difficult to look at it and say it just "is", and always was.
Of course, if it came from nothing - then it would violate the 1st Law of Thermodynamics, which teaches matter and energy is neither created nor destroyed.
And then to get where we are, you have to violate the 2nd law of TD, and the 1st of Biogenesis.
Hi brother Alan! Omigosh, jaxsonmommy has already sufficiently answered most of these. Anyway here's my resposnse that I've prepared:
I am not saying that it has been proven that the origin of the universe is a singularity -- a homogeneously and isotropically dense space. That model belongs to the Big Bang theory.
I am merely pointing out that cosmology and classical physics (i.e., thermodynamics) have a difficult time reconciling a singularity at equilibrium with increased entropy but increased order after the Big Bang.
If God is "only" consciousness then who or what "ignited" the Big Bang? BTW, the Big Bang theory was first proposed by a Belgian Priest Georges Lemaitre. Moreover, from my understanding, entropy should increase (according to thermodynamics) as the universe "decays". If you don't think this is so, then I would submit that you are supporting my argument.
I don't know what you're referring to about the banana thing.
What nonsense. Easter was originally a pagan holiday, not Christian. You people are believing in a myth.
Jesus was a myth like the hundreds of other virgin born, crucified, Son (Sun) of God, healers and 'savior' type god myths.
See the video called 'Myth of Religion; The Solar Messiahs God's Sun Christ Horus'. Although brief, its clear, concise, and very accurate historically regarding the Christian origins. It details how the Jesus myth was based on the Egyptian god Horus.
My brother, it amazes me that you've "favorited" this as well as other Praise and Worship videos with your same comment posted. Perhaps in your heart you long for the love and grace that only Christ Jesus can offer. It's OK man, let it go. As for the "myth" of which you speak, it is a fact that Jesus came into Jerusalem just prior to the Jewish Passover feast and was crucified shortly thereafter.
As for returning after rising on the 3rd day, this was witnessed by Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and His chosen Apostles. Saul, one of the greatest persecutors of Christians witnessed the power, redemption, and grace of Jesus and became His greatest apologists. What about you brother? Are you ready to take Jesus into your heart?
He might go for the bacon but not the tequila - hey, He basically told Peter in Acts to eat whatever he was hungry for. Funny you should mention history. I suggest Werner Keller's excellent read: "The Bible As History". Check it out.
Yeah I saw the unbelievers' posts in philos' video. Let's just say that we're at an impasse. Why do I believe? Because He called on me and raised me up. This belief is an act of faith - sorry, I can't express it in any other way. Scoff if you like.
Sitting in church one day during the Lord's Supper - still a skeptic - I came to the realization that yes, I am a sinner and that He died for me. Very simple. But then, I'm a simple guy. It's getting late for me here so I'll say good night. Peace.
Wow. Not a very miraculous calling. Oh well, I thought I had been called to...was even going into seminary at one time. Then I realized I had just made up the 'calling' in my own mind.
Really Mark...and where is this 'proof' of Jesus coming into Jerusalem prior to the passover?
Do you know how many people were named Jesus in that time? NONE....the letter 'J didn't even exist then....so why do you insist on calling him jesus. Kinda blasphemous to call your 'savior' by a false name. LOL
Ah you're back! You know I'm just a small fish - not very good at this apologetics stuff. You'd have a much better dialectical discussion with someone like brother philos71. So anyway, I'll TRY to answer your questions as best I can.
"Jesus" is the English translation of the Greek Iesous which is translated from the Hebrew Yehoshua - meaning "Jehova is savior". I'm paraphrasing here from Wikipedia so maybe there's some inaccuracies here.
Have you ever heard of Flavius Josephus? He was a Jewish priest captured by the Romans during the Jewish revolt in 66 AD. He was somewhat of a historian and wrote about Jesus as a historical figure.
Secondly, the four gospels (Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John) were written by four different people at different times who penned the gospels as either eye witnesses or under the direction of eye witnesses.
Now a question for you, brother: Why did you leave the seminary?
I play drums for the guy that wrote this song!!!!!!!!!!! BRENT ANDERSON

Likewise, any type of theory that says something just 'magically apears' is more closely related to the concept of 'witchcraft' than science.
Please, tell me you have better points for your faith than just making up 'science articles' and other ficticious points. That's exactly how your religion got started.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Once again, there you go...placing God in yet another place you simply don't have a logical explanation for somethings existence/creation.
Why not just say 'The Flying Spaghetti Monster' created instead. It has the exact same amount of proof as assuming 'your God' created it....same type of 'magical creation' assumption..
Once again, your God, and your religion, is based on a big fat GUESS.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
The Jesus-Sun God myth is nothing new - it was first proposed by historian Bruno Bauer in the 19th century. Where it fails is that it is based on the premise of Jesus as a mythological figure who was a composite of personalities.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Biblical scholars as well as most classical historians agree that Jesus was a real person -- God in flesh -- who walked the earth based not only on the 4 gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Pauline epistles but also upon the writings of Josephus (already discussed), Tacitus, and Suetonius.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Lastly, the Apostle Paul was born a Jew and became a Roman citizen. He witnessed to the gentiles and preached that we can still love God and yet embrace other cultures. So why the hang-up on the Hellenic "Iesous" over the Hebrew "Jehovah"? It doesn't bother me one bit, lol!
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Yeah Yeah, Paul this, and Paul that...Can you even prove Paul existed?
Once again, 'Paul' was a concept from the Piso family.
Ironically, what you believe in is more accurately described as 'Paulism' than Christianity. LOL
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
So...NOBODY existed except the Piso family?
Much of Paul's writings have become historically proven out from Gallio in Corinth, to the works of the law. Not a thing a person would make up to control, or to make a 'hero' out of. It's just a logically unsound argument - and only profferred or sought by those who are against Christians.
Paulism, IS Christianity. There is no distinction. You have some interesting questions, and it's great that you study - and can ask them.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
Quite the contrary...a hero figure was the main purpose. Especially one that could fill in the holes left by the OT. It's not 'Christianity' if it was in Paul's rules, not Jesus's, although we're talking semantics of the worst degree since Jesus was not a real person, but only a character in a heroic play, based on astrology.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Why would somebody "invent" a hero with so many flaws? Why would this fictional person be written about in many other writings? Why does Paul describing what it's like to be a follower of Jesus, make a person not a follower of Jesus teachings?
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
What Jaxsmommy? Are you saying Jesus has flaws? No way, I can't believe my eyes...you bad bad Chrristian. LOL
Ironically jaxs, the writings from the NT, speaking of for a 'play' in which it was intended, is actually quite complete minus a few flaws in the heorical context. They wanted a hero to comeplete the missng fullfillments of the OT. If you look at the book as a 'novel' instead of a doctrine/dogma, its even more interesting.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
I'm saying Paul had flaws. The "New Testament" is not a book, but a collection of writings and letters over a number of years, throughout the near East. Thus, it is quite flawed to suggest it was written by one, at once, or any such accusation.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
More flaws than you realize obviously. In all the Epistles of Paul, there is not ONE word of Christ's virgin birth! Was Paul unaware of it? For this, there can be only one explanation. The story of the virgin birth had not yet been invented when 'Paul' wrote. The backbone of the Gospels is devoted to miracles Christ supposedly did. NOWHERE in 13 Eps of Paul is any mention Christ ever performed ANY miracles. Even Paul attests that he NEVER saw Jesus. That's your religion - MAN MADE! LOL
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
It's good that you realize that it couldn't have all been written at once. But now you're contradicting - you said that the "virgin birth" was thousands of years old...now it's post-Paul. At any rate - Paul's letters aren't historical, but about application, and the new covenant, thus their inclusion, or non is not an issue.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
I never said the 'virgin birth' was thousands of years old. The point was to show the contradictions and inconsistencies of Paul's claims of Jesus. In other words, if Paul NEVER EVEN SAW Jesus, are we really supposed to blindly accept his second hand account, of ANOTHER second hand account?
Any rational individual would seriously question ANY OTHER similar 'third party' claim, yet Christians never question Paul's credibility? That's religious brainwashing at it's best.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Given the religious mentality to never question these inconsistencies...It's no wonder there are still NO artifacts for the supposed life of Jesus. Apparently, even though Jesus was supposedly the SAVIOR OF ALL MANKIND and 'God incarnate'....they were just to stupid to get any of his personal articles, or ANY evidence for his life, other than their incredulous, illogical, and inconsistent and far-fetched claims.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Yeah - why didn't anybody take pictures. Of course there are 4 biographies, and other writings that are more historically available than any other historical writings. If the critics of the Bible dismiss the New Testament as reliable information, then they must also dismiss the reliability of the writings of Plato, Aristotle, Caesar, Homer, etc. etc. etc.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
The only difference is...we KNOW those people lived, and we have artifacts from some of their lives....we have nothing for Jesus, the apostles, or anybody mentioned in the bible aside from the government body.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
You did say the birth was a stolen idea. Paul did meet Jesus on the road to Damascus. Talk about brainwashing: did you meet the Pisos? Have you met Einstein? Have you met the writers of Alexanders legacy, that wrote the stories over 300 years later? I'm not sure why writing to people of how to apply a teaching is illogical. That's a new one.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
Damascus Virginia? Obviously, you haven't read the 13 Epistles of Paul.
Have you met Paul? See, we can do this forever man...thats why SECOND HAND ACCOUNTS ARE UNRELIABLE. I suggest you take a logic class before you get walked on for the rest of your life Paravasi.
By the way, I hope you're not trying to say Einstein was a Christian, or a God believer...he was far from it.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
No, you're missing the point. Your attempting to say that a person can only believe, or teach on something they have personally witnessed themselves.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
In truth, all that any of us know for sure is that we are alive, aware and conscious....thats all, but, for sake of debate, are you saying we should believe everything we hear...and from third hand accounts?
If so, that makes you gullible and foolish (by definition, not my opinion)...and easy manipulated...which is the goal of religion....manipulation.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
oops, didn't mean to call you Paravasi, jaxsonmommy...I debate so many people I get them confused. LOL
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
I've been called worse. :)

MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Again, please prove that the Piso's wrote the New Testament with documented evidence.
I leave you tonight with this bit of advice from one of my favorite authors:
[19] Do not quench the Spirit; [20] do not despise prophetic utterances. [21] But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21)
Peace.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Still dosn't prove Jesus existed. LOL
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
No they don't. Only Christian scholars, or ones unaware of the sun god myths.
Once again, Josephus Flavius was actually Calpernius Piso, and the others only mentioned a 'Christ' or a 'Christos/Christus', which was a word dating back to the ancient Egyptian word 'KRST', which simply meant 'being anointed with the oil of a hippo'....it did not signify the name 'Jesus'.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
From my research I can find nothing to support your claim that Josephus Flavius was Calpurnius Piso -- oh there is a lot of misinformation with unsupported assertions to this end, even that the Piso family "wrote" the New Testament to keep the masses down, man! Puhlease!
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Yeah - I've always wondered how "giving to the poor, loving your enemies, helping the widows, turning the other cheek, loving others, putting others before yourself, you are loved and have value" are teachings that could be used to keep people down????
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
I never said there was not decent moral teachings in th bible. I still to this day follow many of them, but I ALSO understand it was'nt 'Christianity' that started 'moral understandings' and thought processes.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Of course 'biblical scholars' accept Jesus as a real person...their bible scholars...not 'scientists'.
Bible scholars use merely opinion based on personal delusions/agendas.
NO scientists has ever claimed any type of scientific evidence for Jesus and been proven correct, scientifically.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Born of a virgin on Dec.25th, had 12 disciples, crucified on a cross, died at 33, ministry at 30, teacher at 12,did miracles, walked on water, called the Alpha and the Omega, the Light of the World, Morning Star, heralded by the star in the east, 3 kings/wisemen/stars, raised on the 3rd day, etc etc etc...All concepts of sun god myths long before Jesus, of HUNDREDS of other 'sun of god' savior types.
So why would yours not be a fake as well?
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
You may want to consider what you believe:
Isis she was married to Osiris (not a virgin). Horus didn't have 12 disciples-and neither did Jesus. There's no proof Horus taught in a temple at 12, or claimed to walk on water. Jesus wasn't visited at birth by 3 wiseguys. It was much later, and by more than 3.
And on and on...
So you see - if you don't know anything about Jesus, and you will blindly believe anybody that writes anything to dispute Jesus - you can get quite off track.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
Ok, now explain all the similarities of the HUNDREDS of other sun god myth figures. LOL
And no, Jesus, not Horus was visited by 3 wiseguys...it was a metaphor for the stars..not people.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
I finally watched the video you suggested, Alan - 'Myth of Religion; The Solar Messiahs God's Sun Christ Horus'. I must say it was "interesting". As I watched, I took a few notes and listed the assertions made:
Cross of zodiac divides 4 seasons, equinoxes
God's sun, light of the world, 12 constellations (places of travel for sun, identified by names)
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
More assertions made:
Horus (Egyptian Sun god, 3000 BC, born Dec, 25 to virgin Isis Mery, birth accompanied by star in the East, adorned by 3 kings, teacher at 12, baptized at 30 by Anup, 12 disciples, performed miracles, Lamb of God/the Truth/the Light/god's anointed son/good Sheppard, betrayed by typhoon, crucified, buried for 3 days, resurrected,
Set (darkness, ruler of night)
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Similar myths: Attis, Krishna, Dionysus, Mithra,
Astrological basis on Sirius alignment on Dec. 25, 3 "kings stars" during Winter solstice, Dec. 22-24 -- southern cross (sun "dies") then "resurrected" on 3rd day (Dec. 25)
Virgo alignment -- names begin with an "M"
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Response:
I did some research on a few Egyptology sites on the Internet and came up with a vastly different picture than what was depicted in the video:
It seems that there is some confusion between the portrayal of Horus and the portrayal of his father, Osirus, as well as Re -- the sun god. First, Horus had many forms but was known mainly as the "god of the sky" who had the form of a hawk.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Response cont:
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Response cont:
Born to "virgin" Isis Mery? C'mon Alan, that's stretching ol' Horus' conception there a bit isn't it? Osirus was killed with his body parts scattered and Isis, Osirus' sister and wife, found his penis and used it to conceive. I suppose the video producers are trying to make a point of the phonetic similarity between "Mery" and "Mary" but I could find no substantiation of this.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Response cont:
Star in the East (Sirius) accompanied by "three wise men"? First, from the sources I looked at, Osirus and not Horus was associated with Sirius and I could find absolutely nothing about the 3 king stars. I would be very interested if you are able to substantiate this claim.
Teacher at 12, baptized at 30 by Anup? Again, I can find nothing to support these claims. Please provide references to substantiate.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Response cont:
Performed miracle? Like most pagan gods, Horus is supposed to have performed miracles.
Called the Lamb of God, the Truth, the Light, God's anointed Son, Good Sheppard, betrayed by typhoon, crucified, buried for 3 days, resurrected? More like Horus was referred to as Great God, Chief of Powers, Master of Heaven -- not very convincing correlation with the names of Jesus. No evidence of him being crucified, buried and resurrected.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Based on my limited research, I'd say that the video producers should point out their references if they want credibility. Perhaps you can fill all of these obvious gaps.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Both Jesus and Horus were called many titles....but Lamb of God, The Truth, The Light, The Morning Star, Etc are are similarities. The virgin birth was not of a 'virgin girl' as I explained...It was because she was impregnated by the Holy Spirit, just as Mary was...do you really believe she was a 'virgin' and gave birth though? These are all astrological metaphors...get a grip people.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Isis was always married, with much phallic artwork. Never a virgin. There is NO original citation from Egyptian records that will state she was "MERI".
Jesus was also "Way, the Truth the Light; Messiah; God's Anointed Son; Son of Man; Good Shepherd; Lamb of God; Word made flesh; Word of Truth". You can claim that you don't like Jesus teachings, but to claim that He wasn't real, or was a Horus copy is just without merit.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
Jeez, how many times do I have to say this....first, she was a virgin because the HOLY SPIRIT impregnated her...not because she was a 'vigin girl'.Second, ITS A MYTH...a 'made up story'!
Besides, does ANYONE really believe a girl can give birth without some kind of impregnation, namely by another male person? If so, they need some serious biology lessons and a good bit of therapy.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
You will have to look over the heioglyphics, or a source book containing them...this is the most accurate account. As for dying on a cross, just as Jesus was never 'crucified on an actual cross) as stated in the Qu'ran, Horus death on a cross was the 'horizon' cross...it's all astrological people...come on, you should know this from the movie.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
...and when is the 31st day of Khoiak? LOL
Um yeah, Meri and Mary are WORLDS apart in similarity? LMAO...you are really grasping at straws here Mark ol' boy.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Glad you liked the movie....it's a well produced film forhow much info is contained in such a short peiod. For further explainations, google search 'zeitgeist the movie'....it is a more complete version, but with added topics.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
First of all, the Jesus/Sun God myth paralells were obviously not first made in the 19th century if hundreds of other civilizations have started their own Sun God myth/hero story long before Bruno was even born.
Bruno, of which I have not read, does not fail in his assumption. But, the main point is this...Jesus WAS INDEED based on a Sun myth. Weither or not it was a compilation can only be answered by the author/s of the Jesus myth.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Firstly, where is it proven the universe comes from a singularity? But, if it was, this is supposed to be 'less believable' than if it just 'appeared' from nothing, as in the creationist's claim? Second, a 'decaying' universe wouldn't imply a 'state of chaos'.
'Your' concept of the universe is fully within 'your Consciousness'. This is how you have a 'personal relationship' with 'your God'.
I assume you also adhere to the belief that the banana is the 'atheists nightmare' as well? LOL
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
The universe is expanding, would suggest that it had a "starting point". Began expanding, or was created. It's difficult to look at it and say it just "is", and always was.
Of course, if it came from nothing - then it would violate the 1st Law of Thermodynamics, which teaches matter and energy is neither created nor destroyed.
And then to get where we are, you have to violate the 2nd law of TD, and the 1st of Biogenesis.
Of course, well trodden talks for other places.
jaxsonmommy 4 years ago
Thank you jaxsonmommy for your commentary! God Bless!
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Hi brother Alan! Omigosh, jaxsonmommy has already sufficiently answered most of these. Anyway here's my resposnse that I've prepared:
I am not saying that it has been proven that the origin of the universe is a singularity -- a homogeneously and isotropically dense space. That model belongs to the Big Bang theory.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
I am merely pointing out that cosmology and classical physics (i.e., thermodynamics) have a difficult time reconciling a singularity at equilibrium with increased entropy but increased order after the Big Bang.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
If God is "only" consciousness then who or what "ignited" the Big Bang? BTW, the Big Bang theory was first proposed by a Belgian Priest Georges Lemaitre. Moreover, from my understanding, entropy should increase (according to thermodynamics) as the universe "decays". If you don't think this is so, then I would submit that you are supporting my argument.
I don't know what you're referring to about the banana thing.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
three quick examples i found of Jesus saying this:
Matthew 20:28
John 3:13-16
John 12:24

What nonsense. Easter was originally a pagan holiday, not Christian. You people are believing in a myth.
Jesus was a myth like the hundreds of other virgin born, crucified, Son (Sun) of God, healers and 'savior' type god myths.
See the video called 'Myth of Religion; The Solar Messiahs God's Sun Christ Horus'. Although brief, its clear, concise, and very accurate historically regarding the Christian origins. It details how the Jesus myth was based on the Egyptian god Horus.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
My brother, it amazes me that you've "favorited" this as well as other Praise and Worship videos with your same comment posted. Perhaps in your heart you long for the love and grace that only Christ Jesus can offer. It's OK man, let it go. As for the "myth" of which you speak, it is a fact that Jesus came into Jerusalem just prior to the Jewish Passover feast and was crucified shortly thereafter.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
As for returning after rising on the 3rd day, this was witnessed by Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and His chosen Apostles. Saul, one of the greatest persecutors of Christians witnessed the power, redemption, and grace of Jesus and became His greatest apologists. What about you brother? Are you ready to take Jesus into your heart?
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Sure, just give me his telephone number and I'll call him right over. I'll feed him bacon and tequila.
He's a myth dude...learn your history from something besides a fairy tale book.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
He might go for the bacon but not the tequila - hey, He basically told Peter in Acts to eat whatever he was hungry for. Funny you should mention history. I suggest Werner Keller's excellent read: "The Bible As History". Check it out.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Why would I want to read a bunch of circular logic?
You do realize you can't 'prove' the bible WITH the bible right?
Why do you believe in this Jesus nonsense?
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Yeah I saw the unbelievers' posts in philos' video. Let's just say that we're at an impasse. Why do I believe? Because He called on me and raised me up. This belief is an act of faith - sorry, I can't express it in any other way. Scoff if you like.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Really, and how did he 'call you'?
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Sitting in church one day during the Lord's Supper - still a skeptic - I came to the realization that yes, I am a sinner and that He died for me. Very simple. But then, I'm a simple guy. It's getting late for me here so I'll say good night. Peace.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Wow. Not a very miraculous calling. Oh well, I thought I had been called to...was even going into seminary at one time. Then I realized I had just made up the 'calling' in my own mind.
God is Consciousness.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Really?...prove it.
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Really Mark...and where is this 'proof' of Jesus coming into Jerusalem prior to the passover?
Do you know how many people were named Jesus in that time? NONE....the letter 'J didn't even exist then....so why do you insist on calling him jesus. Kinda blasphemous to call your 'savior' by a false name. LOL
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
Ah you're back! You know I'm just a small fish - not very good at this apologetics stuff. You'd have a much better dialectical discussion with someone like brother philos71. So anyway, I'll TRY to answer your questions as best I can.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
"Jesus" is the English translation of the Greek Iesous which is translated from the Hebrew Yehoshua - meaning "Jehova is savior". I'm paraphrasing here from Wikipedia so maybe there's some inaccuracies here.
Have you ever heard of Flavius Josephus? He was a Jewish priest captured by the Romans during the Jewish revolt in 66 AD. He was somewhat of a historian and wrote about Jesus as a historical figure.
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Secondly, the four gospels (Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John) were written by four different people at different times who penned the gospels as either eye witnesses or under the direction of eye witnesses.
Now a question for you, brother: Why did you leave the seminary?
MarkFromHawaii 4 years ago
Because I realized the 'calling' was my imagination....not some deity 'calling' me to the seminary school.
God is Consciousness.....nothing more.
Jesus was based on a Sun God myth...the same as hundreds of others even before his time.
P.s. If you now know that the name Jesus was never used in his time, why do you insist on calling him a fake name? LOL
IlluminateYourMind 4 years ago
You do realize that Josephus Flavius was actually Calpernius Piso? Josephus was his ghost writer name.
The Piso family wrote the stories of Jesus.
