Easily one of the (if not THE) best performances of this song I've seen on here! Not only are they in tune (which already puts this above the majority of vids), they're all in character, too! I love that the same little choreography looks different on each of them because they are interpreting it through their character!
Boy, the music director and vocal coach really slow down alot of the music to accomodate the actors. It is a difficult score as is all of Sondheim, however, artistic license and rights don't excuse manipulating the score. All in all, this is the best company I've seen on YouTube of this show. I was Booth in the Pa Premiere and we butchered the barber shop quartet in this number PLUS , the moves they make in the song are wonderful in this.
This was simply excapetional. Guiteau and Moore were brilliant and the coreography was great and comical in its simplicity (since this song is a barbershop quartet the coreography they used was perfect). I do think that Booth was out of tone during the chorus parts.
My favorite song! Czolgosz is the best, always the voice of the thousands of downtrodden, faceless wage slaves whose sweat, blood and tears greased the gears of early American industry.
What's really uncanny about this Guiteau is his voice - the actor looks about 16, but he has the ability to sound like he's in his early 70s! Truthfully, I like his voice far better than the '04 Broadway Guiteau.
ha im playing guitea in a song which totally rocks cuz im like half the size of all the other guys who going off to college and im the youngest and i was chosen
the way the show is actually set up is so that every other scene can possibly be in front of the curtain so that set changes can be made behind the curtain. Also, this was a student production, so we kind of had to work with what we had.
@amandakuchinski I thought it was cool. The whole show itself is postmodern, so to put it in front of a curtain makes it even more theatrical while simultaneously breaking the fourth wall.
Aaah, it just gets better and better with every clip!I absolutely adore what you guys have done with this song. It's fantastic. Czolgosz (with a marvelous voice!) in his melancholy, and Guiteau in his fairylike cheer (God, this guy is wonderful), and Booth in his grin-winning charisma (again, I maintain that his voice doesn't work for me, but this guy's acting is awesome, and his stage presence as well). And your Moore was adorable and hilarious, with a great voice to boot.
Excellent job with Czolgosz. And while Guiteau's costume and makeup may be somewhat comedic past what the original production contained, the dancing and singing was excellent.

Great student production! Guiteau's voice was so good I was confused as to whether this was a professional troupe or not.

This is one of the better versions i've seen of this song. I've never heard it done with Moore that has a pretty voice!
I just wish Czolgosz had a slightly deeper voice...but maybe that's because baritone/bass voices make me melt :)

Oh wow! These four voices blend together very well. It reminded me of a barber shop quartet. haha

really outstanding cast. All 4 actors were impressive. Too bad the director chose to put this talent in front of a drawn red curtain. (????)

since this scene is so time bending it also helps that its in front of a curtain instead of in a defined place.

Some of my favorite Sondheim music. Don't think too many people remember this musical though...
