  • Nice filming

  • This train is 30 years old (first race between Moscow - Leningrad was in 1979) but recently was changed by german's out of date "high speed" train that has slower speed then this one :))

  • Russia doesn't have true high speed rail, the latest project "Sapsan" recently launched while fast does not even attain its full potential because the rail system wasn't updated to Japanese standards

  • @volkbyte umm it's true that the rail isn't FULLY updated, but it was upgraded. Plus, the train hits 250 km/h, which is faster than the HSR minimum

  • GEEZUS FUCKING KRIST! Even the Russians have high speed rail?

In the meantime American trains can't even make it to 150km/h and America just continues to argue about the merits of high speed rail.

Geez: America's glory days are well behind her.

  • When the cam is zoomed in, it looks big, idk why but it does

  • Does not look like highspeed at all... remembers at a local traffic train with "normal" speed elswhere in europe!

  • @globetrotter0580 dude its a train from the 70's and can go 250km/h , nothing "normal" about that. There are no "normal" trains in europe that go that speed FOOL

  • This train is made in Latvia in 1974 , its top speed 200km/h (ER-200)!

  • @sveetaisteevs I treveled by it from Petersburg to Moscow and sometimes the speed was 220 km/hr

  • markiz12345678960937 - Gorbachov is dumb ass , He had peace in Mind while wild cowboys were thinking of war ...

CCCP should heva attacked USA in 1988.

  • High Speed Train ??? AHAHAHA

  • that train's max speed is 200km/h, it's goung slow now, however, it's old and now is replaced by "Sapsan" pendolinio series

  • @DanLapko I think this speed is so good for this region... For example, in the Baltics there's 60-80 km/h average speed of trains...

  • High Speed Train ???? AHAHAHAH

  • trains between Helsinki and St Petersburg on to Moscow do quite well and the pendolino is to be introduced soon.

  • it's dead slow m8

  • Comment removed

In 1997 in Russia was built high-speed train(350 km/h) named "Sokol" (Falcon), look wiki. RZD spend $250 million for development, but we still can't see this train)))) because the project is DEAD. Too much money wasted. Thus we do not want to build hi-speed trains.

  • How many of these were built?

  • Only 2

  • 2, when they were built there was no large demand for such trains, they were used to test high speed train lines in the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union imported high speed ChS200 Electric Locomotives from Czechoslovakia to assemble high speed trains on regular lines. In recent years more interest in creating a high speed line between Moscow and St. Petersburg, of course the bureaucrats chose the most expensive choice and Russians will pay 1 month salary for 1 way trip on German made "Sapsan".

  • build in 1973

max speed 250 km/h but idiot gorbochev destrou my country.....

Not 250, only 200 km/h.

  • So, We Indians are somehow behind other countries, although the previous Rail Minister set-up a survey for bullet trains in our country.

Our top speed is still 160km/h, although we do have Swiss ABB WAP5, GM SD40, and so on... LHB Alstom coaches are being installed in all the trains, and have been installed in premium trains.

  • yes i hate gorbatschof too

  • @markiz12345678960937 Don't worry, it was a bad country anyway, occupied other countries (such as latvia where the train was made) etc.

  • @markiz12345678960937 max speed 200km/h, built in our country Larvia, Riga

  • A good direction of high speed train research. But why there's no following types?

  • you got money? ; )

    ....LOOOOTS OF MONEY?

  • 1. All Soviet/Russian electric trains with letters "ER" were built in Riga, Latvia which has been an independent country for 19 years.

    2. At the end of the 1980's there was no funding in the country for such projects. All recent domestic high speed train and locomotive designs(ES250) have been "forgotten" and abandoned. Plus the bureaucrats in the Russian Government and Oligarchs love German imports.

  • It is designed for 200km/h, but this doesn't mean it must run at the top speed...

  • Good train

  • This highspeed for you... Yougotta be kidding me!

  • ER200 trainsets are too old.

(like as old as Japanese Shinkansen series 0)

  • Japanese Series 0 looks better thought.

  • Japanese Shinkansen series 0 came in 1960s while ER200 came in 1980s...

I just want to know its unit.

    Tc+[M+M]+...+[M+M]+Tc?

  • Both Japanese Shinkansen series 0 and ER200 came in 1960s and stopped built in 1980s.

  • to slow. It's verry difficuly to modernize the Rusian Railway because are used another gauge ( 1520 mm not intereuropean gauge 1435 mm ).

  • Da, dar UNIUNEA EUROPEANA are interes sa dezvolte caile ferate EUROPENE. Rusia si fostele tari sovietice, nu prezinta garantie si stabilitate politico-economica.

    BAFTA SI PE CURAND.

  • hai ca i-am scris lu rusu asta 2 pagini si el habar n-are ce am vb noi aci ..bafta si daca vezi ceva nereguli la mine .critica . ciao

  • TAREEEEEEE ! ESTI DE NOTA 10 AICI. MI-AI PLACUT ! WEEKEND PLACUT. ( rusul sa puna laba pe carte sa invete romana)

  • ER200 trainsets built around 1964-1980, as old as Japanese Shinkansen series 0.

Track gauges in new high speed lines:

New high speed lines should be 1520mm in Russia - Germany - Netherlands - London routes and 1435mm in Spain.

  • nemesiss01 is harrasing Siemens.

    hey nemesiss01, stop harassing Siemens.

  • That's not the reason.

The reason is- iN Europe the track distnace you have to build is managable and affordable. The distances in Russia are humongous. Faster speed?= Need more straight, curveless track.

  • Why can't the russians spend their oil money on something that actually goes FAST AND IS SEXY and made in france, germany or Japan?

  • This train was build in 1978 - earlier as german ICE or french TGV.

  • There is no excuse, russia needs to modernize its rail system by using german or french or japanese trains.

  • Russian trains ARE sexy.

  • @343kaka Its old japanese train :D

  • @piesior You dumb this train made Russian workers in Latvia on a special factory

  • @343kaka Why?

  • @343kaka This isn`t a Russian train!! This is a Latvian Train RVR ER200!

  • @WaterRokcEVO This is not a Russian train indeed. This is a Soviet train. Too bad Russia is now lost what it had 20 years ago. Foreign cars, foreign airplanes, foreign trains. This will not change until Russia runs out of oil.

  • @WaterRokcEVO It is a SOVIET train

  • i dont know why they wont spenmd the money, but io do know that it MUST be made in Russia. We have all seen french, germand and japanese fast trains..

  • Well, there was a development going on in 1998 of superfast train. However the cost it would take to build such a unit for a gigantic distance from Moscow to St Petersburg was a financial suicide!

It's about a distance of 2 Frances across- to build such a long highspeed track!

Can't use the current tracks , because the curves and dips are not recomended to run over 140 KM/H in sevice mode.

  • cool

  • Ofcourse:)

  • pendolinos is biggest shit. because this russian train can go, slowly but can :D not like "standing" pendolinos :D

  • Nice, Like to go on it one day.

  • it looks massive compared to pendolinos:)

  • this train seems built 40 years ago... but very nice!

  • I have been on it. I did not think it was as nice as the Acela. It may be faster.

  • The fastest acela can go 130mph

  • I go with GERMAN -ICE and French TGV. I know US ACELA made by SIEMENS.

  • ....but never seen it ))))

It's like- probably on a short eastern route, that's all.

The rest in US as is old as this one.

  • compared to the Japanese bullet trains, this train looks much more masculine..I wish i couyld see it at full speed. Can it reach 300km/hr?

  • no, about 200km/h

  • Theres a table that shows current speed in that train. Max I saw was 209.

It should be capable of more but lane restriction is like 200.

  • The train is in Kolpino: * K * O * L * P * I * N * O *, that is within St. Petersburg, few minutes before reaching the end station. Hence the slow speed, end of story.

  • This train looks undestructible. Nice video

  • good clip thanx

  • Beautiful robust train!

  • In fact ЭР200 is very old model.

The RZD monopoly isn't interested in modern high speed transportation technologies. Why would they modernize anything when people haven't any alternative to the tumbledown outmoded RZD cars?

  • This isn't right. The RZD has very lot concurent on the Moscow-St. Petersburg route: 4-5 airlines with relative cheap ticket. The Oktober Railway (Moscow-St.Petersburg) will operate with Siemens ICE-trains from 2009 (with 250 km/h speed).

  • Wow! Nice, gratulations Russia!!!

    Fiorekolej from Poland

  • I drive steam engines faster than that.

  • look an answer above

  • OMG So faaaaaasst. Whooooooooooosh lol. I agree above

  • Good video but hardly high speed, only doing about 80kph

  • The train is approaching the final station, so speed is decreased
