I met some polish aerobatic pilots for PZL at the Zhuhai Airshow in China a few years ago who did a spectacular L-39 and Wilga demonstration. Before their flights, I noticed some of the pilots downing large cans of Lech and Zubra beer. The pilot who flew the Wilga seemed pretty buzzed before the flight and really buzzed afterward.
These guys were some of the most skilled pilots aerobatic and test pilots in the world, and I'll bet some likely get a little buzzed to take the edge off.
