You should operate a microwave oven with a load in it, such as a cup of water, so that microwaves are not reflected back into the magnetron. The process of "erasing" a CD will probably not be as dramatic as depicted in the video (if at all) using a load also. That said, I've blasted CDs in my microwave a number of times without any obvious damage to the oven. The melted CD does create noxious fumes though.
@darkice60000 yes. the data disappears from the cd, the cd cracks up and its burned in the inside. (i dont know if you have noticed black around the cracks.)
