I got mine from someone local, but the most common place to find an emu's egg (fertile, unfertile, blown out) in my opinion is... Ebay! If you can find some one local that raises emus that would be better than some one shipping eggs. Would you just want to see one hatch or are you also thinking about raising it? Emus can live to be thirty years old so it is important that you have a plan =)
I have a question about the chick. What was that stuff you put on babies behind after it hatched? Was it iodine? and if so why? Thank you for posting. Life is amazing.
oh i had those emu eggs be4 the female emus lay eggs like chickens right, without the baby in it..... I had one attack my cousin to she was stupid and screamed and almost got her head pecked off those suckers can be mean!
You would think I would be shocked or disturbed by this statement, but I support the humane farming of emus for human consumption. The raising conditions of emus are much much better than most of meat found in supermarkets.
I've had emu meat as well, and I've also seen them raised. The meat is delicious, and they really are raised ridiculously humane (at least on the several farms I've visited). On some farms, they're raised better than most humans lol.
Thank you for posting this video. I had no idea that the eggs were so pigmented! I'm going to guess that you were putting betadine on the naval? Have there been infection issues in the past? Thanks again!
The color of the eggs are very elegant :O
and of course the chicks are adorable <3

I used to have a neighbor with emu's. They're really neat birds. And they're not noisy at all.
