The girl from Pakistan who said the the Jewish people control the media etc is exactly right. The guy who asked her what she thought about America said he didn't think that was true.. You would think that they would have someone with some knowledge of this country before asking questions in other country's.
I'm Deaf myself and alumnus from SIT Graduate Institute. The title reminded me of required textbook, "Heart Politics Revisited" by Fran Peavy as part of listening project. One request: could you put subtitle or closed caption on documentary for Deaf audiences? Thank you so much!
Informing Americans that they don't know anything about global matters doesn't hurt, but it really doesn't help. Americans need to take it one step further. We need to emerge ourselves in other forms of media besides the news on TV, since that just shows the US and maybe Iraq.
Keep in mind Americans, when you go to CNN, there is a 'global' tab.
Top 10 reasons: --------------- 1. Number 1 polluter 2. Number 1 carbon dioxide emitter 3. Number 1 global bully 4. Number 1 arms exporter 5. Number 1 consumer of useless crap 6. Number 1 in obesity 7. Number 1 illegal drug consumer 8. Number 1 mean spirited towards Mexicans 9. Number 1 porn producer 10. Number 1 mean spirited towards New Orleans black people
In terms of government there are negative connotations that are deserved, specifically in terms of Middle Eastern, African, Central American, and Asian nations for many reasons. However America has provided so much aid,(although generally the aid we give has self-interest embedded), and helped so many. I think that our meddling in other nations has both been extremely constructive but also extremly destructive.
Yes, its's made its mistakes, but most of the time I'm proud to be an American.
And I'll make sure to check out this movie! Is it in theatres or on DVD?
It looks awesome.
You should check out the book "The Culture Code," its mainly about an American perspective on different things, but theres a chapter on other nations views of America as well.
I have learned more about cultures from this film then I have in any classes growing up. I'm from Mansfield, Pa...you guys brought the film to my TV1 class. It was really eye opening for me. I am more curious about other cultures and other areas of the world. It's hard to remember sometimes that it's not just America...thanks to media many of us are uneducated. Thank you for bringing the film to MU. Best of luck with spreading the word.
This should be interesting. I'm in America, and I think Americans don't really like America much, well the politics. But, I think it's changing, slightly, if anything. Ron Paul picked the best time to run for US President.
I would like to know to too cause i live in US and i feel like Americans think other countries dont even exist, and that's not just politics but cultural and educational changes that should be made since they have so much responsability.
what do i think of america, well growing up with hollywood films in the uk i thought it was the place of freedom, however the days of Its A Wonderful Life, Eisenhower, I fear are lost forever and Im worried where the world will be in 50 years because of America
Hopefully soon. We're applying to film festivals right now, and seeking a way to get it out... We hope it will premiere at a festival this fall and be available more widely early next year. But sign up on our mailing list on our website and we'll keep you posted.

I agree, but Americans should take the first step and just accept outside knowledge. We all need to be more open to the world around us.
