Cartoon characters only have 4 finger per hand is because they are now digitally generated by computers. Anyone who knows anything about computers also knows that Binary (i.e.Base 2) and Octal (i.e. Base 8) are the natural number systems of computers (i.e. Bytes have 8 bits, bits have 2 states). So the computers naturally thing, well there are 2 hands (binary of course), logically there should be a total of 8 fingers or 4 finger per hand.
