My class just dealt with a computer that had Vista Antivirus on it. It had removed msconfig and when a classmate tried looking at the details for the Windows system file Vista Antivirus was tampering with Windows Explorer closed and the machine just clicked off automatically.

To top it off we couldn't find a boot device on restart. It was quite a hassle.

interseting... my pc was infected by this program it took me i remember about 2 weeks to unistall this, though I was not pulled in by the website my pc actually kept running pop ups saying "your computer is infected... blah blah... run this program"(it was something like that) at first I thought y not(that was a retarded chice, of course) so I ran the download and everything and i ran a "scan" and i realize this was bullcrap(sorry about the language) first of I doubt a computer could actually...

I was infected by this long ago. (Antvrs.exe, Antivirus 2008)For deactivating it(not tottaly, but don´t bothers you) press Ctrl, Alt, Supr when you start the computer, at the same time. The Task Manager will apear, you will see in the list Antvrs.exe. then click End Process.

Voilá! Goodbye!

they aren't really viruses, they are more like fake security programs. A whole nother breed entirely. These programs are pretty much viruses in a box since the virus makers can't get you conventionally. So they decide to make money off you and pose as the programs used to protect you from them. It's the smartest thing they've come up with and they are doing a very good job at it and hiding it.
