I absolutely love film. Its my passion. I want to learn more though. When i was talking to the advisor on the phone, he told me how AAU helps the students build a strong portfolio.
I was stoked about it but ive been looking a lot into it and ive heard mixed reviews. A lot of people hate it but i feel like the people the love it are there because the love what they do.
point it, is it worth it? how are the people, the dorms, the area? and most importantly, the school in general?
i am thinking about going to this school in the fall but im having mixed feeling about it because its so expensive. could u give me some information about this school
It is expensive, but if you take advantage of all the extra stuff AAU has to offer, it's well worth it. The students that complain about it being too expensive are the ones who do the bare minimum in class to get a degree. If you just want a degree, it's too much money. If you want to make connections and get a full education, it's worth the cost!
So does AAU have a school if you want to get into documentary or something like that? All I know is that AAU is very expensive. I remember talking to an admisions representative on how expensive it is. I basically want to get into film or Game design but I dont think AAU has game design courses.
Yes, it's very expensive. I'm paying for everything in student and parent loans. If you finish school, it will be well worth it but make sure you can finish before you start or it will have been a waste of money.
Man 70% drop out rate....Damn sounds like its either really hard or just the wrong people came to that school. So they do have courses for documentary/film editing. Im really not interested in acting or anything like that. Are you from the Bay area? do you like it out there?
Yes, and very good edit labs. They have Final Cut Pro, Avid, After Effects, and film splicing rooms. If you are an editing major, you will be kept very busy with projects and opportunities. I've been here in the Bay Area my whole life and I LOVE IT HERE :-) Especially SF, it's my favorite city.
Man I was this close to going to that school this past year. I graduated HS in 2005 and I still havent gone to college. Just working still *Sigh*. I live in knoxville TN. I really want to get the fuck out of here. I was thinking about something in film or something like that. But my mom told me not to go because I will never find a job once I get out of that School. She said it would basically be a waste of money.
Well the thing about AAU is that it's open admission, so anyone can get in, but it's very hard work so we have a very high drop-out rate. Something like 70% of the students drop out within their first year. But I think 85% of those who finish and graduate go on to successful careers in what they studied as a result. So if you can make it through, it's WELL worth it. I've just finished my first semester and I'm already getting more acting and production work than before.
i am just a 10th grader in high school..but i already know that i am going to major in fashion design or..maybe animation art..comic art? lol..u have msn? i would love to chat about your school..
Awesome, I'm a film major. Directing and screenwriting. I do have MSN but I never use it. You're more likely to catch me on AIM. My AIM screen name is SkyzDaLimit911, if you have it. Otherwise, feel free to e-mail me: SkyzDaLimit911 at hotmail. com. Talk to you later!
My future school as well! Gah... but im takin a community college... But no worries! I shall be there in the spring! and i hope to have as much fun as you guys are. Major:Animation and Visual effects/ Gaming my sn is the same i have here without the "boi" though.
