Maybe in the near future I will import, scan and upload the manga adaptation of TOKYO: THE LAST WAR in a similar manner. If Toho won't let me upload the film, I should at least be able to share the manga adaptation with people.

Guess he still gets turned on by women despite being a demon. Yeah, it also struck me as over the top, especially when events leading up to it were relatively restrained.

As for the adaptation itself...at first I was disappointed that they cut out so much (Gakutensoku the robot, the Feng Shui expert, etc.) but over time I've begun to warm up to it. Because they do simplify things it allows for better focus on the drama between Kato and the other characters which is nice.

Personal opinion here but I find this manga adaptation's final battle between Keiko and Kato to be a little too violent in a kinky way with the ear-licking and bite.

In the anime, the final battle seemed perversely romantic with Keiko's hug and kiss to Kato.

The live action movie seemed to mediate between the two endings… it involved a knife but wasn't too violent, and it wasn't full of too much love…

What was the ending like in the novel???

Also, 8:22 where is that music from? the anime?

Remember this important battle in the original novel was not intended as the "ending" as there was still 6 more books to be written. The original novel (from what I understand) is more like the live action version and this version--Keiko's fate is left ambiguous. I DO know from the plot summaries of the later books that Kato actually captures her and holds her hostage in China. From there she gives aid to some of the later protagonists (I think)

oh yeah that's right, i do keep forgetting it's not over at all with this. it's difficult to keep in perspective with the way it's the first 4 books condensed into one movie/manga/anime and everything else is japan-only.

Exactly, I know what you mean! If you saw my other comment on part 2, I just discovered that this manga adaptation was written around the same time as the first film adaptation, meaning that it could only stop at part 4 since the other parts hadn't been written yet.

This brings up a question...If the anime adaptation was made in 1991, then WHY didn't they continue with all 10/12 parts? To further mislead people, the provide a closure to the story in the anime when the live adaptation clearly stated implied during the ending credits that there would be a sequel. But in the anime they just dumped that possibility and cut everything off at part 4. I'm a little confused about that...Maybe they ran out of money?

Their encounter is certainly a lot more violent here than in the anime.
