His tags have gotten a lot better over the years, I grew up San Fernando and always admired this guys for getting up. I would always see his tags when I would go visit my cousins in El Sereno too.
Now as a graphic designer I am obsessed with the typographic design of L.A. taggers and the placas of the barrios, espe the barrios...
because the cholo gangs are obsessed with putting up the perfect placasos and getting down in character designs too.
Its not about how he wrote his name, it was the exposure and the notoriety he received. Dude spray painted his name more for publicity than a presidential race!! Theres lots of many better artist, but this dude was LA's first King, RESPECT Chaka, your a legend
@thaproductz Exactly... Sum ppl need 2 do sum research b4 dey commnt. He wasnt looking 2 mix da best colors or looking 2 come up wit a mural. Dere's diff types of graffitti. Deres bombing or doing a piece or doing a mural or a throw up. Chaka wuld go 2 Temple City n tag da city hitting up evry street light n fire hydrant. Den days later end up in San Fernando Valley n tag dat city 2. Hes a legend n any1 dat really knows graffitti respects him just as much as phase2, ces53 among oders.
@rawdigga Im glad others respect the game like Me & U do. U can't learn something without known the root of it.
All These new one ones are branches, CHAKA and others before him are the Roots and tree bark that hold the culture of grafiti down like a Strong Oak tree !
His passion is not spray canning - it's damaging other peoples property. Damage for over 500 000 $ :/ why is he not in prison? What's to brag about in being a criminal?
@draconpost A lot of art was criminal back in the day. There was a time when expressionism was so despised it was almost banned. And photography was an underground movement for a long time because people didn't see it as art.
I'm not that impressed by this guy if all he does is put his name everywhere (I don't know much of Chaka I admit), but some graffiti artists, one in my town called Phlegm, does amazing murals and I wouldn't care how much it's cost the city to see something that beautiful.
@LianneRose18 yeah, I was thinking exactly the same, some graffitis are awesome and they should stay but from what I see here this guy here only sprays CHAKA everywhere :/
@draconpost You really should watch the other videos and take in what he means to other people and try to leave your artistic opinion for an artist that consider themselves "artists".
Man,i remember seeing "CHAKA" tags when i was a pup back in the 80's & i used to think it was a crew cause he was up sooo much. Then when i found out it was 1 dude i was like "Daaaaamn".big ups 2 "CHAKA".
