i have the hyperlite, used it all over, even in the snow but had to buy the under section. worked good but if you add a heat sheet it is twice as effective. with the extra large tarp, you can peg it to the ground and have total privacy
@ericvonp LOL....actually we never tried that yet and I say again YET.... I'm sure it would be very possible! Just make sure your friends are not using the same trees your using to secure your hammock too, they might not appreciate the excessive movement...lol
of all the videos I have watched on the hammock, no one ever shows getting in and out of a sleeping bag. sure would like to see that. bottom or side zip.great video. thanks
Looks great, I think ill get one, because I would prefer it to a standard tent where you get the dampness of the ground, and rocky/rooty surfaces against your body. The only things I dont like, which im kind of seeing here, is there no where to put your boots really, so you might get it dirty if you take them in with you. Also, no where really for a bag, so you would either have to leave it out and in the rain, or in with you but might be tight against you and uncomfy...
@Balgore8 Yes your right about being off the the ground. And as far as your equipments actually you just hang your boots and any packs you have on the hammock line that runs to the trees on each end by carabiners. Then just setup the rainfly to keep everything dry in case of bad weather. Thats where I hang all my gear if I dont want it wet or just off the ground. In the summer I hang my fivefingers or water shoes inside the hammock with me on the inside ridge line just for convenience. Thx
Where did you buy you hammock? You mentioned that you upgraded to the larger fly for no cost? I am looking to purchase the same setup and am wondering how much it cost as well, total.
@mrsuperterd I know how to order one and find one on the internet, I was wondering where you specifically got your hammock from. I have not seen any deals like the one you mentioned. Not sure if it might be different at the place you got yours. I loved the video by the way. Very well done!
i was thinking about getting one and man you gave me the answer i needed as well
about the entrie side or bottom was the question side makes it seem easy plus have a chair thx the the added fly aspect saved me some added expense thanks alot..g
One of the plusses of the velcro entry model is that I can enter very fast if its buggy, escaping most of the mosquitos. How fast can you get in closing the zipper behind you?
I hope Hennessy Hammock gives you something or writes you a check for this.
1. I wasn't sure if i would go with Hennessy or another brand.
2. if I did get a Hennessy, I wasn't sure what model
3. The model I kinda was thinking of is about 50 dollars cheaper.
4. I wasn't sure if I wanted the zippered sides
and this review convinced me to go with Hennessy Hammock, upgrade to the model you reviewed, upgrade to the lager rainfly. great review. certainly much better than the others I've seen.
@karlhungusjr1 Awesome thanks!!! Im glad my vids are accomplishing what I intended. Which was answer all the quesions I had that most others would have as well!! Thanks for comment!!!
@fromnycchinatown I prefer everything in snake skins. It just make things easier to setup quickly and take down. I will just depend on your circumstances and where you are going. good question and thx for comment!!
I like the 'rain collector' feature you have there. Do you know exactly which model the tarp is, dimensions etc? I can't seem to find any on the Hennessy website specifying that feature.
@john22112 You must purchase the rain catcher seperate on henessey website and it will clip to any HH rain fly at the corners where it has a built in clip.
oh cool. I've decided to sew my own out of coated 1.6 oz per yard digital camo nylon. I'll put a video up when I'm done. The material shipped from ebay today. I'm excited because I've seen how well digital camo can make stuff dissapear. I like to keep a low profile so my stuff is safely un found at my base camp.
@andrewsheldonreeves The standard 70D rainfly weighs 1.9oz and the the upgraded 70D hex fly only weighs 25oz but its twice the size and covers more area when pitched. Thanks for your question!
Probably the best hammock video I've seen. You sold me. This is going to be my next purchase. I've never camped in a hammock but you made it look so comfortable.
@05MagnumSXT Thanks for comment!! You will be glad you bought a HH after one night in it! You will wonder why you never tried this sooner like me....lol. You will appreciate the light weight, quality and getting a great night of sleep after hiking or whatever outdoor activity you take it on. Thanks again and come back here and let me know how you like it?
Also, you said that you prefer the side entrance better. Do you find cooking under the rain fly while sitting in the hammock (like a chair) to be comfortable? I could see how sitting in the belly entrance might be uncomfortable.
@D4nnypery Yes it it very easy to cook while sitting in hte hammock like chair or even laying down and reaching outside as well! It works great either way! And yes its not really possible to accomplish that task laying inside a velcro model, but should work fine laying on outside or velcro model or sitting.
Nice review. I bought one of these last summer and took it out in October. You mentioned it briefly, but let people know, you NEED a sleeping pad in cooler weather. Hammocks are like overpasses, and cool air definitely flows underneath. A pad under your bag is highly recommended in cooler temps.
@alienjeff650 I am using the GoPro HD helmet cam its the best helemt cam I have ever used, almost indestuctible and very easy to use. Most of all my videos are done with that cam. Thanks for comment
Awesome video by outdoorzone I didnt really know much about the hennessy hammocks, now im thinking about selling them on my website amtcgear.com.au Their great
@alienjeff650 Thats great!!! I hope you do sell them they truly are top notch and all my friends and my own family all use them from ages 10 and up. Hennessy is a great company and growing fast with great service!!
I am new to hanging and about to buy my first hammock. I am set on Hennessy. I am glad you did this review because I was confused on if I should get the bottom entrance or side entrance. But I would have to agree with you, the side entrance is where its at. This way you can lean over and grab stuff on the ground without having to get out. Thanks for the video.
@GDeadphans Your welcome and I'm glad my videos are helping many of you out there it really makes a difference! You will love HH they are the best hands down!
I'd just like to say thank you so much for doing these videos! There are the best HH video on youtube in my opinon! They have helped me decide which hammock I wanted (went with a Deep Jungle XL) and whethere or not I wanted to upgrade to the Hex Fly. Cheers
@chrismhoyt No problem.... I really appreciate the good comments and thumbs up! Thats awesome that you think my HH vids are the best! I try to give a more up close perspective of the product Im not interested in being in my videos like many on youtube, who really cares who I am its the subject matter that counts! Thanks again and welcome to the HH family! You'll love it!!
Good review. I have the bottom entry with the Super Shelter. As far as cold weather, the SS is the way to go. I don't even sleep in my bag. I plan on getting the zipper mod through 2QZQ so I have the best of both worlds. Another thing I have done to mine is made a set of whoopie slings to replace the stock suspension. They are made out of 1/8" Amsteel Blue. Its half the diameter and twice the strength. Try tying your 550 cord below your suspension for better weather resistance.
@silverlion1973 Thanks for the input and advice! You will love the zipper mod when you get it! Do you have a video showing the whoopie slings you mentioned so I can see what it is? Thanks!!
@silverlion1973 Wow!! Thanks for great comment and I am glad to see my video helped you with your HH decision, that was my intentions for doing the video to begin with! Thanks and hope you love your HH hammock!! I just bought my wife the expedition zip and stepson the scout model HH hammocks for Christmas! They will get a lot of use!
