  • Who cares about the color of the hakama, the bad thing is the technique really lame , and there is no chance that guy is 7th dan , sorry to say but this peolple are stealing thevstudents money , i hope for them they find a proper sensei and not this 7th dan.......

  • Hello. Everybody should traditionnaly wear a hakama, O-sensei just allowed some beginners to not wear, because of the price, especially in war times. O-sensei only wore white hakama at end of his life, with quite foolish traditionnal disrespect (nobody's perfect) and strong omotokyo involvement. White is traditionnal color for death in Japan, just like black is in general in occident.

  • Example my sensei just says that before 4th kyu, you're not obliged to wear a hakama (not sure to continue aikido, price, difficulty to practice with when beginner, whatever are the multiple reasons), and asks starting at 4th kyu, that you should wear it (because it is the traditionnal way, it hides you moves, it's nicer, etc), and dark blue or black, or not too grey, so that no ostensible difference is unusefully made between practitionners, as in martial japanese tradition. Have a nice aikiday

  • Que hace este IRRESPETUOSO con Hakama blanca??????

  • this isnt aikido- this is David Copperfield illusion- fog selling instructor

  • Que hace ese estúpido, con ropa blanca?

  • Try doing that shit to me you retard and we will see who Irimnage's who.

  • unfortunate.

  • Jesus is a good uke!!!

  • Ok. I agree, only high ranking individuals should wear white. That is not the important thing. I want to know whats with all the spinning? Is Aikido or the Ice capades?

  • nicely done ;)

  • whats this smack about the colour of a hakama my sensai was given a white one by a Japanese sensai after a seminar. the master of my style uses a white hakama. i'm not gonna ware a white one if it gets a stain its a little to visible and i'm only a 7kyu. 1dan and onwards hakama. i haven't seen a white hakama used yet

  • This dance isn't aikido!

  • why the hell is she wearing a white hakama it is soo disrespectful and rude to wear one unless its for religious reasons and your japanese--- shamefull

  • @me4meeee Bullshit, there is plenty Japanese budoka wearing white hakama on youtube. You are just a ignorant douche trying to appear better then some random dude over the Internet. That is a easy target that wont defend him self, it tell a lot about your weak character and spoiled mind. Fuck off!

  • @newtubetubetube

Really guy? 7 pages of comments and your the only that dropped the F bomb.

  • @srbournival F bomb? Poor sensitive thing...

7 page of comments and you are the only one that posted while having noting to say.

  • @newtubetubetube

Trust me buddy F#@K is my favorite word but I have a little more class than to use on a you tube video.

  • @srbournival said "[...]F#@K is my favorite word[...]"

LOL. You are doing self censoring. If you mom don't allow you use say fuck, then please don't. Trying to go around the parental rules by replacing random letters with random glyph only make you look like a bouffon. Fuck off!

  • @newtubetubetube

Now you got bring my mother into this? That's just rude man. Why are you geting so pissed? Would you want your kid getting on to youtube and thinking it's ok to talk to people like this? But you probably don't have kids cause you talk like your a virgin twelve year old so desperatly trying to make people think you got a big one, when really its really the size of shelled peanut. Heres to you web warrior!

  • @srbournival LOL.

  • I need a hakama to work outdoors in summer. Black hakama will be burned out by the sun, as was my black kimono last summer :\ plus, it`ll be really hot in a black hakama. And to make things worse, there is no grey or similar color available for my butt size :( I need a 100cm (waste-end) length...where there`s a lot of white available. What should I do?

  • at the end: haya HAYYY xD

  • Try to go to Iwama with a white Hakama... and try to go to Iwama and do an Iriminage like that...

  • @Jemmolo agree

  • Pa... mas vueltas imposible jaja

  • wow..such an impressive speed by the nage.love aikido

  • Sorry, is not a offensive comment. It´s just a fact! The colors of the things have meanings for human been.If someone goes a funeral wearing red dress is very offensive. If you use a color from the opposite team, surrounded by supporters of the other team is at least dangerous.Tao, Zen and Aikido all together? OLD SCHOOL AND TRADITIONS and white hakama for a nobody in Aikido?40 years in Martials Arts, 35 years in Aikido 5ºdan Aikikai. Nothing about Aikido?Peace brother.White hakama only Ósensei.

  • suite...

But we're not really surprised by this situation, when in fact inquired about the profiles of those who leave comments offensive, they have quickly s'aperçois know nothing about aikido and even less in the Tao or ZEN. The Murasgigeryu is a very old school and we kept some traditions.

What I can say is that inhabit our real KAMI DOJO.

Sorry about this translation online. Original French text.

  • Assessing someone on the color of the costumes is a superficial judgment ..

The authentic Japanese (my friends) look at things a little higher.

They did not face as many Westerners veiled superficial.

All these comments for months on the color of hakama shows the lack of discernment and shows arrogance.

More seriously, is to focus on the color of a costume and do not see the spiral motion carried by sensei on his pupil.

  • As I can see there are many comments about white hakama. In my country we have a sensei doing the same. For the japanese don´t make any sense, it´s strange, my wife is a japanese lady and she consider a abuse of the japanese costumes, the same point of view has my Japanese master. More serious because is coming from a teacher of a japanese Martial Art. White hakama because the people are religious people? Wearing white hakama means; a more spiritual condition that your sensei.

  • Lame! Iriminage is not done this way

  • White Hakama is religious. Hakama is a formal pant. In Omoto kio people use white hakama. becouse that some videos Ueshiba sensei is using. I never see before other people using white hakama, only shihans high dan.

  • Sort of looks asif he is throwing Jesus to the ground

  • poor lady. She's landing on her back a lot.

  • @killarse That's the softest landing you can get. It's when you don't go with the technique and land on your face or awkwardly on your limbs that it starts to get really painful really quickly.

  • @Nateb123 I don't agree. A good Uke kan slip out easliy and make a sideways or back roll. Break falls more often than not are born by choice, not necessity.

  • @aikistok Not if the technique is done correctly. An uke also must realize that when a technique is practiced at 1/4 or 1/2 speed, the effect of momentum on one's balance must be simulated. Sure, at 1/4 speed you can slip out of a throw but it's practice so that's not the point. When done full speed and with proper angles and movement, there truly is no option for the uke. I'm even double jointed in my hips and shoulders which has no effect. It just takes a bit more for me to tap out.

  • It is critical by danger

  • Felicitacions!

  • If the color of the hakama is not important, why do you talk so much about it?

The nage in this video is off-balanced by his quick turn, you can see that he has to take a step to regain his balance, that is not good in my book. Uke is not moving in such a way that he/she can protect himself/herself, the ukemi does not look very controlled or confortable. This is only my perception.

  • thank you for your comments.

    I agree with you.

That is correct about the hakama, white color for kyu in our school Murashigeryu Belgium

  • Looks very effective against a limp body running in a circle...

  • @jakesilv That's just centripetal force doing its thing. Uke does not run in circles because they are told to. They simply have to choose whether to run to keep their centre of balance over their feet or to let it move outwards where they'll get dragged across the mat (and probably have a joint torqued).

  • 0:29 O.o

  • In my dojo white hakama are common for people who haven't achieved shodan. It's easier to get accustomed to wearing a hakama from the beginning, I think. I live in Bucharest, Romania.

  • It's the same with us.

Increasingly, I think Murashige taught in your country by 1960.

    We have the same inheritance.

The color is immaterial, the work is important thank you for your comment

  • I think the color helps promote custom and atmosphere in

the dojo It would be nice to see more variety in the dojo considering

we're suppose to love what we're doing, Let us explore it in full

  • @anrei0000 In Finland we wear a black Hakama at 3 kyu and uppwards, but just white gi 7-4kuy

  • surely a white hakama would get dirty quicker??

  • Tohei sensei jumps all the time

  • You made me curious (which is great! :-) ): Tohei-sensei does jump quite a lot (I checked as many videos as I could find on YouTube)! Yet, this man says (in another video) that his "style" his Murashige-ryu. My own sensei was a disciple of Murashige-sensei. I'm not saying that Murashige's "style" was to be firmly rooted to the ground, but I'm rather sure it's all about being stable; this man barely avoided stumbling on his uke's white hakama...

  • LOL! End of discussion because YOU say so.

I guess all those other ranked Aikidoka I have seen across the nation in various seminars and demos that were wearing various colored hakama without anyone calling them on it were just flukes.

Don't get hung up on the petty things.

  • As did numerous other teachers, I can name Shioda and Shimizu off the top of my head I'm sure there's plenty of others. A hakama can actually be of any colour, although black or dark blue is the most common.

  • If a westener walks into a dojo in Japan with a white Hakama you would be ask to leave. Even the highest ranking teachers wouldn't wear a white Hakama. This is all flash

  • @trixatron Ueshiba used to wear a white hakama. Plus, i've seen images of Gozo Shioda wearing one.

  • @trixatron Who cares about the clothes :P if they get annoyed by trivialities then pheraps they should consider to rethink on the reasons why they started practising Aikido.

  • @trixatron

Depends on the dojo and their etiquette. There are styles (usually esoteric stuff) where they all wear white, and there are other styles where only the shihan dons a white one.

I agree it would raise eyebrows in mainstream aikido dojos in Japan.

  • @trixatron

Depends on the art. In Shintaido, they all wear white hakamas. But that is as new-age as you can get. As for Aikido, you are right. If you turn up that, you´d get some really weird looks.

  • beautiful

  • only o'sensei wear white hakama

  • Not something to judge by the beginner like myself, but still - great demonstration.

  • Anyone can wear a white Hakama - although traditionally in the aiki arts the black is the overwhelming standard. A white hakama is generally considered to be very old fashioned, and is generally reserved for formal koryu demonstrations and elderly practitioners of high rank. But ultimately it is a Shinto thing, white being the color of purity and death.

  • seeing on so young i white startles me....

  • Wow what's all the fuss about? The technique was executed very well and the falls were landed in a controlled manner. Both people were skilled and well versed in what they were doing. I think the video displays the power and effectiveness Aikido really has. Well done.

  • Ok men, or women, whatever. Fademer right? What the hell are you doing waring a white hakkama, god dammit? Osensei was wearing a white hakkama only at the las years (right?) because he was reachet to a top of tops. But look at you... falling like a trunk, little girl (girl right?).

  • yeah, true. but people can still wear a white hakama if they want to. its just most people doing aikido prefer blue or black.

  • Naaaa

It is not a matter of modes and personal tastes. This is not "I want to wear emo style hakama with skull print on the back"

    You are absolutely wrong!

  • ??????????????

  • in my dojo it is customary for ranks up to shodan to be allowed to wear a white hakama. having achieved shodan we are required to wear a black hakama. i do not think it matters all that much and it is just the way things evolve.

  • White Hakama? =\ c'mon.

  • (PART 1)

Hello to everybody below. I am the uke from this video and I would like to put things straight.

First of all, watch closely and read the info, then you'll see that I am a man, of similar weight and height to my sensei.

Secondly, I insist this is in no way a brutal nor dangerous movement. He gets out of the line of attack with a backwards tenkan and hereby creates an emptiness in which I fall. This is not a choreography, not exaggerated nor faked.

  • (PART 2)

I think I may say that I know sensei Michiru very well after several years of training. He is always very concerned with our safety and we practice a non-violent aikido, even if this video might make that hard to believe.

I would also like to add that we wear white hakama's before obtaining the black belt. I believe it is a tradition that we herited from Sensei Murashigé, but with all respect, is that really important?

I hope you may all find joy in your personal way of practicing!!

  • i look at your video at least 10 times and study your fall, caused by brutalised throw i might be poor sighted but i pray that you did not get any brain damage or maybe it s just your way of falling that look dangerous, with no offense to you and your sensei it s better to fall by avoiding your head to hit impact the floor or maybe a good slam before your body hit the floor will deminish the hard crushed of your skull.

  • exactly what i think about the whole hakama thing, i would actually prefer to do it that way. and yeah, you do the martial art, it doesnt matter what you wear aslong as you enjoy it and you learn , thanks - simon -

  • well said mate

  • i practiced before the brutalized aikido similar like yours before and after 20 years i met many of my aikido friends not a single one of them can walk properly, you see my friend that s what you will get by brutalizing yourself and others. i do ki aikido for my health and you just brutalized the poor woman in a bridal gown.

take an opponent which is not inferior to you.

  • please read my answer above. Thanks

  • if you believe you are superior to others; that is where your weakness manifests. when you only think of self, not greater nor less you are on a great path

  • that second irimi nage was very dangerous for the uke, plus nage's footwork was all over the place after performing tenkan. first one was excellent though. cheers.

  • maybe im just nitpicking, but uke has white hakama. Those usually arent allowed unless the wearer is very highly graded. I could be wrong tho. point is, if she is high graded, she probably has the skill to take the ukemi.

  • Please read my answer above. Thanks

  • One of the best Aikido videos seen on here.

  • very good

  • I went to my first Aikido class last Saturday and I have to say, don't be fooled by the the graceful look of Aikido, those moves work!
