Remember, everything has already been done. The trick is to do it better or make it your own. I love the Cure. I've seen them both in concert and must say the Shout Out Louds are the better of the two.

@villasukat Big difference in being influenced and being a complete derivative. And yes The Cure was pretty fucking unique and original back then. They stood alone and you would be hard pressed to find any one who sounded like them. You need to le arn what influence really means, this is not it. This is derivative plan and simple. Like all the bands now that are tapping into every obscure genre of the 80's and 90's and just duplicating it perfectly. It's happening on every level right now.

Disintigration, Pornography, Head On The Door, Faith, Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me, all masterpieces. Robert Smith is a genius, and lets make no mistake about that, he is easily one of the best songwriters of our generation, I like what I've heard of this group, but they are a throw back, and they are no Cure

this is a rant that had nothing to do with what i said. of course the shout out louds wouldn't be here if they weren't influenced by the cure. and the cure wouldn't be here if they weren't influenced...we can go backwards to the origin of music. no the sol's won't ever be as influential. that's not what i'm saying. But the shout out louds are consistent. the cure aren't. i don't need a lesson on the cure. i've listened to them years before i knew the sol's. I just don't like them as much.

I admit the Cure have some dodgy patches,but when you are making music for as long as they have, there's bound to be a creative slump. Right then, as far as the SOL's go, I got Howl Howl, Gaff Gaff, and I think it;s a really pretty record, and after just a few listens I am confident that they will get the recoignition they deserve
