Hello man. I live in Canada. I like wat i hear about tmobile, as opposed to Rogrs. Can I get a tmobile branded 8520/9300 and access uma calling on roger's network?
I thought rogers started offering UMA as well? Try look it up..
You can't just bring a t-mobile phone to another carrier.. 1. the carrier has to support UMA... 2. the settings in the phone is t-mobile uma specific unless you edit it ..
@ash55699 rogers and fido offer uma up here according to the internet. ud hav to go thru alot of crap i guess if u want to take a branded phone (or even an unbranded) onto anoda network. My problem with rogers is that theyre conartists. They dont offer unlimited internet for pc (stray from topic). Also i hear that they hide some things on their 9300. Sigh, guess i hav no choice. Their uma only works in canada and doesnt work on any other network i hear
umm.. interesting.... i missed the days i lived in canada where fido was billing by seconds instead of minutes... cell phone bills down here is just so expensive..

@trashers4cashers .. negative.. there are a lot of tmobile specific settings in the 9780 unless you flash the phone with bell rom but bell has to support UMA in the first place
Thanks again! yes now i;m looking for the option to flash OS. can you help me regarding that? where can i find that tmobile OS that i can download and upload on my bold.
I have a AT&T BB Bold 9700. It is unlocked. I tried to make phone call using wifi. Failed many times. Later on i have found that even tho i have unlocked the phone, as at&t does not have UMA feature, they have hide the option "CONNECTION PREFERENCE : Wifi preferred ".
As of now i managed to bring that hidden option (connection preference), i'm yet to make it successful. I hope i'll be able to make it like T-mobile factory settings for AT&T (unlocked) BB BOLD 9700.
GSM bb bold is capable of using UMA even if it's from AT&T but you need to configure the phone with T-Mobile UMA settings.. (Google "unlocked blackberry and UMA" and click on "Use any UMA enabled BlackBerry on T-Mobile | BlackBerryRocks).. however, I don't think the login works anymore ....try giving T-mobile CS a call and see if they can provide you with the settings.. if not, flash your OS with a t-mobile OS..
i have a BBBold, and a NETGEAR (WEP secured) connection. I wanted to make call using my wi-fi. I could not make it. When i scanned the wi-fi, it connects and i can browse data. But it does not switch automatically to UMA. can you help me please.
I'm assuming that's a T-mobile BB? My roommate had similar problem where his bb wouldn't switch to UMA with only a yellow icon right next to the network name under wifi settings. However, the only thing he did was to do was a battery pull. I know it sounds lame but that's how he fixed it. Also make sure it's Wifi preferred under connection preference.
