@Schriftsteller1974 Both the T-34 and Sherman were war winners. They were both produced on mass, both were reliable, decently armored, very mobile and well armed. The Panther was the most technicaly superior vehicle but over engeenered for a machine with a service life measured in days, weeks or months at the most. An improved and simplified Mk 4 would have been of much more value to the Germans.The MK 4, Stug 3, Marder and Hetzer were the backbone of German armored forcesup to wars end.
@scottduncan44 wrong, it was the IS-3 that was the most advanced fighting vehicle of WW2, too bad it only saw action against the Japanese, it would have teached Panther a lesson the same way IS-2 did with Tiger

T-34 could easily be build and its trustable like AK-47, WWII is the battle of production,even though Panzer V or VI would kill T-34 easily but they gotta face many few more times of Russian tanks. BTW, Panzer V/VI need too much resoures and too much mentend.
And don't forgot the idea for the panther, and kingtigers sloped armour came from the T34. The russians build better tanks then american's, but the germans were the best, but there simpely wern't enough germans and resources for them.
Overall what went wrong in terms of tanks was the biggesthte Germans should have produced was he Panther,all other heavies were useless. They should have concentrated production on vehicles like the PZ 4H, Hetzer, Jagdpanzer 4, Stug 3 and 4.
T-34 were only fast on hard flat ground... the T-34 suspension had very short wheel travel, the suspension was very fast overloaded by bumb shocks, which allowed very low cross country (rough terrain) speed, on rough terrain the T-34 reached lower speeds as Sherman or Pz4 it was completely outclassed by Panther and Tiger.
The T-34 was a relibilty nightmare, well known T-34 problems aircleaner/filter system (filters nothing), suspension (US Christie type) extrem poor performance(the reason why the US did not use it), very poor steel quality of the springs, transmisson, a 1942 US analyse of T34 transmisison, it is 15years behind 1940 standart, the T-34 transmission was a 1:1 copy of a US transmission that was rejected by US Army in the mid-late 1920´s, Clutch very poor, poor armour steel quality
No it couldn't,if the refference concernes only the technical capabilities.The 85 mm gun is quite formidable weapon.However Jerries were much more proficious than the commie crewmen(with some exceptions).

IS-2 wasnt better then Tiger II and IS-3 wasnt used in the war. German wanted to upgrade Tiger II but it was too late.
