You can't go comparing a r26b to 2011 F1 V8

The F1 engine will sweep 2.6L of air with 720 degrees of crank.

The r26b engine will sweep 5.232L of air with 720 degrees of crank.

When someone makes a naturally aspirated 13B (2.6L in real engineering terms) that spins reliably all day long to 18000rpm with excellent filling AND thermal efficiency (GL on the thermal), then there would be something to compare.

Also formula 1 has been a fuel formula (with varying levels of severity) since about 1986

Actually the Rotary got banned from 24 hour Le Mans due to being the only engines that could run the full 24 hours, they win by default.

@dlinecg the r26b could not compete in f1 if they wanted to because max is 2.4l... f1 also only make 740hp at 19000rpm... the r26b has made 900hp at 9000rpm but was detuned to 700hp for le mans... but you are right it shouldn't be compared to a f1... it should be compared to v12
