In my studio, students learn the bow hold very quickly using the Bow Hold Buddies[tm] bow accessory. The accessory keeps the hand relaxed and fingers in place while we learn more music.
I want to say that I am grateful that Ms. Dorothy Roffman is in the profession of helping others. For us teachers, sacrifice and patience are essential to achieve success, the greater talant.
Her daughter, Sharon Roffman, taught me how to read music at Kean University in fall of 2006 and spring of 2007.
Despite supporting my mother, who is a single parent, and my siblings, Sharon was very understanding of my concerns and my apparent inability to practice for my lessons.
I would like to admit that I am ignorant of her. I congratulate her experience with small children. She proves that you don't have to be able to play at a concert soloist level to be a good teacher. It's too bad that people like me who can play anything at the highest level are considered ignorant and garbage.
I beg your pardon. I am not familiar with her. She could have a great reputation and be a great violinist. But, the way she flipped her fingers (too much wasted motion), I could'nt tell if she was serious. I would like to hear her Pagannini Caprices.
Why do they think that making a mockery of true playing skills is entertaining. She obviously doesn't play the violin, or if so, not at a soloist level. This is offensive because a lot of talent and work is needed to play the violin well. People do not realise this. Or maybe she can really play and is just making fun of those who think that they can and can't.
How little you know, as this is a video of one of the best violin teachers for young children in the country, someone who both knows extensively and cares deeply about true violin technique and pedagogy. You obviously mistook the video, clearly casually shot at an informal meeting. The only thing offensive about it is your comment, which shows your pretentious ignorance.
I was only speaking as someone who can play the violin at the highest level. Not someone who is commited to teaching small children probably because she can't play the violin at a professional level.
