But this is wrong and really should have been fact checked. 158 grain +p hollow point .38 sp will stop a bad guy and so will a 147 grain +p hollow point 9mm. And the uneducated opinion on semi autos being complicated and jam a lot... well one word for you... GLOCK!

@capcoor: I am no expert and my opinion is worth only as much as you paid for it. But I would not use a 380 for self defense. Look up the FBI service caliber testing. The FBI tested most handgun rounds using ballistics gelatin to determine if a particular bullet carried enough penetration to be worthy as a self defense sidearm. The 380 did not pass. If you want a semi auto look into 9mm, 357 sig, 40 s&w, 45 acp, or 10mm. All of those guns will serve you well.
You guys are silly. .45 automatic = game over. Who cares though, does anyone want to get shot at all, regardless of what caliber it is? I hardly think that any would-be assailant is going to ponder what caliber you're packing, when push comes to shove.
@Capcoor There is no gun that is 100 percent sure to fire when you pull the trigger, lets say your gun has never failed and one day you get a dud round. So no matter how reliable a gun is and how good the ammo your shooting things happen. If you buy a Honda does that mean nothing will ever stop it from running?

lol very funny. glocks are very easy to use with no external safeties, (unless you want to count the trigger safety) and my glocks never jam, the only time a glock would jam on you is if you used bad ammo.
Keep your weapon clean, hold it properly, and use the proper ammo, and your weapon should never jam.
