the presenter does an excellent pronouncing those place names in the introduction... television presenters and newsreaders don't seem to be bothered any more on pronouncing non english-sounding names these days!
@rosebankross They're Welsh - she's talking about Pontllanfraith at the beginning. (Although it's a bit misleading because the start of Take the High Road has a Scottish TV 'ident' in front of it)
@markimark03 The announcer is Jenny Ogwen (then working for HTV Wales) who speaks Welsh as her native language. I think she still presents on S4C from time to time.
When did the start to film the external scenes on video tape? The use of video tape for the opening, break bumpers and closing sequence were recorded on video tape from 1990, so is that maybe when the change happened?

This soap was a LOT better than the pish they put on now. Bring back Take the High Road!

This show is like Taggart, in that every Scottish actor from Ewan McGregor to my mate Jim has appeared in it!
