  • Haha. Love the beer can cameo at the end.

  • ahahahahaahha "billion rpm" lmao

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit what are you revving to 9500?

  • sense when did a track Miata have to be rotary..... cool can affect

  • It sounds like a 2zz-ge engine from the sportivo corolla. It engages lift which allows it to rev to 9000. Just like a V-TEC would.

  • I would love to run my subbie against that car ;)

  • sounds like my stocker with a higher rev limit.

  • Why can't I ever find a nice stretch of empty road like that????

  • @miatageekscott you need to move north, i live in new hampshire, great roads out here :)

  • @twococksproduction Wish I had the money for that man, I also like the no state sales tax thing...

  • @twococksproduction yeah we have no purchase tax, but slightly higher property tax. but its a sacrifice im willing to make for the nice curvy roads lol

  • nice sound, a engine you can just rev and really handle driver input

  • maybe a spec miata race engine lol (for all you dumb asses that means its stock.)

  • the RPM's can't be accurate. You could barely hear it at 6000

  • why is it that my miata is just as fast and its stock >_>

  • nice vid great sound looks fun

  • nice! Is that an ubercharger 2.0?

  • stock miatas dont have red limiters.. mine redlines at 7G and i can push it all the way to 8, but not any more than that. i wouldnt say it sounds like a F20 or a F22 either, you hear no VTEC...

  • @Skyler47James

Redline and Revlimit are two diff. things.

My redline is @ 7200 but my revlimit is @ 7400. I can go up to 7400, but then the fuel cut happens. You DO have a rev limit, you probably have just never went up that high to hit it.

When you race, you don't shift at peak power, you shift @ redline, if you shift @ peak power, you drop below the torque band and end up with slow times. If you shift at redline, you go above your torque band, but when you shift, are thrown back into it.

  • @Skyler47James

Wrong. They do have rev limiters. Tachs on Miatas are always really inaccurate. Youre maxed out at 7200.

  • That look's like a awesome rode to drive on. That's a fast car too, not so much a fan of the exhaust but if it's fast it's fast I'll respect it.

  • Original Miata engine and sound

  • so what is done to it?

  • except for the true mazda funs, the rest of you are idiots. BTW just tells us how you removed the rev limiter. Did you do the cystal mod and if so, how how did you overcome the lean issues?

  • @352vision he probably didn't bother and that's why he posted a video with a retarded title like this one.

  • Thats a B6 or a BP. Sounds great.

  • theres no way thats rotary it would so way diferent

  • i had a miata, doesn't sound anything like the 1.6 or 1.8l. i agree with renatubie. it does sound a lot like an s2000 motor.

  • Amen.

  • that sounds exactly like the stock miata engine....you just have it revving to a billion rpm

  • @LogicRising imagine how much hp it would have if it still made power at a billion rpms, lol

  • What engine are you running? Is it just a built B6?

  • That engine sounds just like an s2000 ap2 engine called F22C. It has an 8200 rpm redline.

  • your facts are all wrong. research before you post.

  • Please be specific about what is wrong. I have done my research and I own an ap1 s2000 and a 92 miata (And I know how each engine sounds like) This miata may not have a F20c or F22c, but my facts are correct to the best of my knowledge.

  • I think it's a Flyin' Miata built engine ~155rwhp

  • I've had my accord up to 140. You're wheels would fall off at that speed. Why don't you have something with a newer engine? Can you get credit? I still have a better power to weight ratio. And yes it can take a corner without leaning over so hard it looks like it's taking a bow like your old american car.

  • I bet it's a KLZE v-6 from a 626 or mx6. Thats what it really sounds like. Those engines kick ass. I had a 5spd 626 with one. What a great car. I finally sold it with 276,000 miles on it, and it was still going strong.

  • can't be a KLZE or you'd see velocity stacks sticking out of the hood...

  • I have 2 cars. One is an 06 accord coupe V6 5spd, and the other is a 07 VW Toureg. My accord has more resale value than 455 trans am in good condition. My accord is also faster than a trans am, and it can also turn corners. The Toureg is different. It's for family outings, and my wife drives it. It has navigation, heated seats, heated mirrors, stability management traction control etc. It is pure luxury. Thanks for asking.

  • all a 79 trans am can do is go in a straight line... talk about boring

  • sounds like a f20 honda engine

  • wat are u redlining at?

  • The can was next the camera to give me a mark. Blasting by blew it over and made it look like I was out boozin' it up. At 120mph. Which I wasn't. No animals or livers or laws were harmed making this film. Maybe later but not during. For the record here's the recipe: Take 1.6 Miata engine built as a full race motor left over after a race and stick in lightweight chassis. Add modified computer with 8400 rpm redline. Drive car. Love car. Sell car years later only because you have 3 convertibles.

  • Nice! I love the inclusion of the beer can. Looks like a fun day.

  • Way to cross the double yellows, moron.

  • shut up pussy

  • id change the steering wheel, the originals are shit for driving fast there too big and chunky. plus u have to be a midget or asian to fit in the seat properly and be able to heel toe. the car sounds awsome tho, what exhaust system u running?

  • and i'd guess no power steering :(

  • and then you get pulled over by a cop. thats how it happend to me.

looks a lot lime my car...97?

  • lol at the can XD

  • Not a rotary, and can a B6 even rev up that high??

  • some of the old Group A mazda engines redlined at 9,000 but i have never heard of the B6

  • also 80-90% of the miatas are MANUAL instead of your 80-90% automatic "manly" Trans-Ams. Dont degrade something because its shape.

  • WOW at 1:20 it is almost scary... i have an NA and its definately a built B6 in that car... Love it

  • hey flyurmiata, what's so scary at 1:20 of that video?

  • just how fast it goes by... first you can bearly see it then its gone...

  • It is definitely a Mazda B6 motor converted to solid lifters. As far as the Miata engine being the same as Honda without v-tec comment thats not true. Miata has a indestructable iron block as opposed to hondas lighter aluminum ones. Miatas have an entirely different valve setup too.

  • No its probably a built B6 mazda motor, they redline at 7200 stock and can easily be modified to do more. Definately not a rotary as my buddy as a 13B in his miata and it sounds like a banshee.

  • you're all idiots, its not a rotart and if i had to gues what engine it was, id probably say its an AE86 or a civic Si motor, the si motors run 8300 rpm stock

  • LOL. Why the hell would you put a 4age or B series engine in a miata... it's probably a built B6 engine.

  • either way, its not a rotary. thanks for adding some sense into the comments man.

  • how kan i let my miata rev higher than now??

i have the blak magik miata of '93..first 1800 cc engine 156 hp with cpu..limied rev is 7750...ihow kan i get to 8300??is there the possibility to hange the torque moment and put it at higher rpm??

  • yeah sure... you will need lightweight valvetrain upgrades, and some sturdy h beam rods (titanium are best) and then a chip upgrade/reflash etc.

  • sounds like a rotary :) probably why he can rev to 9k

  • Negative sounds like a built miata engine, rotary does not sound like that at all.

  • .....

  • @turbo311 the miata does not even have a rotory engine lol its an inline 4

  • @svtman93 Look at the comment I was responding to, he said it was rotary not me. I said it sounds like a built Miata engine. I know it's a 4cyl I own one!

  • @turbo311 miatas run inline 4s.

  • @dwmcdaniel13 No shit? I was responding the to comment before mine. I own a Miata.

  • @turbo311 im sure u do.

  • @dwmcdaniel13 You think I'm lying? Why would I? It's not like I'm saying I own a Ferrari.

  • @turbo311 true. for all i know though u could be 9 years old.

  • dude you are a honda guy and didn't even put out the S2k as a possible powerplant seeing this car is RWD? sounds like a honda or nissan SR20DE block. it might be a rotary engine, but it doesn't sound like one to me.

  • it sounds like an s2k but condsidering a miata motor is basicaly the same thing as a honda motor, minus the vtec, its hard to tell....

  • Miata engine is completely different than a honda engine. No its not the VTEC that makes it different. This is a miata engine. I hear the difference clearly. You might not because you've never owned a miata.

  • no way.... i can spot a rotary a mile down the road

  • by lookin at this vid, your miata doesnt even look any faster than mine

  • It sure as heck is faster than mine.

  • look at his redline.

  • You're right Mr. Trans-am. Who wants to see a car widely known as one of the best sports cars of all time ripping down the road. Clipping apexes. Drifting ever so slightly in the corners. Ho hum indeed. Perhaps if the car was a lumbering slop that couldn't handle to save it's life. And it had a ridiculous chicken on the hood and the driver had a mullet it would be far more exciting. Yee ha! Where's my sister/wife?

  • lmfao nice redneck joke but yeah it is a little faggish, and it does make me laugh.. not the kind of car a teenager like me want to have (unless there is a 351 cleveland in there) but it is the best roadster out there and those who say miata is a girls car 80-90% of the miata owners are MALES!

  • Came in through the Craigslist ad. Makes me miss my '91...thanks for sharing!

  • No shortcuts here. We did it the right way. Dropped in a full race motor we built for an enduro car. And modified the computer to let it do it's thing. After the race we had it sitting there and I said, "hey, let's put that thing in my street car and see what happens". What happens is a power to weight ratio that turns a miata into a motorcycle with 4 tires.

There's a hell of a motor in there, in fact, building the motor cost more than buying the car.

  • Thats funny... last time I checked, miata computers arent able to "modified". They can be piggy backed or swapped for a full stand alone.

seems rather slow for a built block, do you have any comparisons videos?

  • the road was wet so i had to kind of take it easy. but the car movesif you're willing to rev it. the motor was full of sunbelt parts and built to live above 6000rpm. it came out of a car built for the cascade enduro. it led both the p1 and p2 divisions of the race for 11 hours. so no its's not slow. no comparison videos for you but being able to beat cars one class up is better than video. and yes the computer can be modified. 7 year of racing miatas teaches you a few tricks.

  • where can you get the computer modified... the guys over at flyinmiata pretty much have squashed all rumours of the computer itself being able to be modified.

  • the guys at flyin' miata try to make their stuff so you the consumer can get it the cheapest. I dont remember who it was but i remember the kit was 2k 2 years ago, they would flash your computer when you buy a turbo kit for it.. the easy way to make your engine rev higher is by replacing a crystal.

  • yah good 1

  • Did you eliminate the Rev limiter, and tune the PCM, or did you just overclock the tach?
