  • This is surrealist music. I love it so much... the tempo, the notes everything sounds so beautiful and weird at the same time...

  • @BoundByGlory ahh...too late..... . .already added 2 my favs b4 reading ur stupid comment!!!

  • maudlin of the Well limited box set BLACK FRIDAY sale to USA only. Information on our page. There are less than 15 sets available in the world.

  • @BoundByGlory I'm pretty sure your taste in music is mediocre. The one thing this band has is talent.Justin bieber will be forgotten. Go listen to your shitty emo music.

  • **ONLY 50 maudlin of the Well Limited Edition Box Sets Left**

Buy now or forever hold your peace.

  • @BlooodMusic Thank goodness I randomly decided to scroll down and read comments in my "work music playlist"...I had no idea they were even being made!

You have just received my order; well played, my friend.

  • Such a beautiful song.

  • I feel like people just go through videos and dislike things just to dislike them, because I have no earthly idea how someone could truly dislike this..

  • @SaivNosevi

the same people are the ones who claim that "The dislike bar is the size of...." or the 'classic' "156 people got hit in the head by....."

  • @SaivNosevi Its called opinions. (I like it though)

  • the reason you feel nostalgia is because they "bring the songs out of the astral plane" meaning they use astral projection to enter the astral plane and allow the songs to come to them, they then return and write based on what they heard. This implies that some kind of spirit exists and that life in this body is part of a cycle. look it up ^^

  • @tintanknowsbest Dude you don't have to tell me I'm already an astral projector lol

  • @tintanknowsbest That's one reason motW is a favorite band of mine

  • i really enjoyed this on a cold dark tuesday morning at 8am

  • Wow... What a piece of art this song is...

  • wow...

  • I have the strangest feelings listening to this and other MotW songs. Like some kind of weird familiarity.

  • @cactusnoturno Dude I get that exact same feeling, like everything about them is nostalgic in some way.

  • @IonsAgo Exactly. Nice to know I'm not the only one. And kind of (even more) creepy too.

  • is there more songs of this?

  • I am going to be moving to an area soon that should have alot of fields and the first thing im going to do is put this on my Mp3 player lay down in the field and look up at the stars like the most thumbs up user on this video said.

  • amazing stuf brother

  • Do acid to this=Chillest experience of your life

  • hey all, if anyone's interested in checking out a hip hop instrumental with samples from this song, check my video: m.i.s.v.o.l.t. :)

  • This song is amazing. Playful in some parts, and achingly sensual in others. What a glorious, glorious piece. :)

  • What is with the sudden influx of views? This had 28,000 views for the longest time just last week

  • @DynastyTunes

Someone mentioned their name in 'good neighbor' series of internet sketch video's in a list of bands worth checking out. It's what led me here. I'm glad I'm came don't get me wrong, but popular exposure breeds imitation breeds mediocrity - that's how we got to this place in the first place. But mediocrity breeds a desire to create something new, to stand isolated from the rest. It's how we make new sounds, by trying not to sound like what has already been created. Experimenting.

  • @freeradicals Really? Could you provide the URL for the video? I'm interested in seeing it now.

  • @DynastyTunes

  • i would live and die in this song.

  • Why are people comparing Maudlin to Opeth? Seriously.

  • @DrVelvetProductions Because they're probably like the only two "metal" bands I've ever heard where the songs are just raw feeling and emotion. Don't get me wrong, maudlin of the Well and Opeth are definitely two entirely different bands, but where Opeth has perfectly captured the feeling of grieving, depression, and bleak subject matter, maudlin of the Well has captured the essence of the opposite spectrum with good feelings and beauty. They should be listened to back to back imo.

  • @mobman47 listen to Warning man,...This band has beautiful music too tho

  • @MayhemFan666 I shall check them out right now, am I supposed to be listening to the doom metal band or the french hard rock band? :P Since we're partially on the subject of doom metal though, a great band to check out is called Colosseum (song: Corridors of Isolation). They're a little monotonous at first listen because they play so slow, but imo its really heart felt for its incredibly slow tempo.

  • @mobman47 Warning from the Uk,I probly shudve mentioned that hah,but uhm,...listen to the album "Watching From a Distance",that album blew my mind when I heard it all the way through, especially since im a big Sabbth Fan, but giv it a try.....you wont regret it...

  • @MayhemFan666 Ok yeah, I found the right band then :P. That's the album I downloaded.

  • I'd also like to say that comparing ANY band to Opeth (as in, creativity and musical integrity) is one of the highest honors.

  • OMHG I AM SO SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH lmaoç,

And yes, they are far better than Opeth.

  • @HeavySoaddict You and some other here love this I thin I might have something you all will love just as much ! :)

  • @mortedabizerra yes, i read some talking about opeth hear lol...

  • opeth is both very beautiful and really ear fucking great shit, i love them, every album of theirs are different masterpieces, but this is only relaxing... and it doesn't sounds like opeth either... but it's good music i have to say...

  • @TheTwilightIsMyRobe Opeth is fucking bullshit.

  • @Peppepoppldoppl ok fucktard.

  • @wedonttastetheair You are a fucktard.

  • @Peppepoppldoppl Then tell me. Why do you think Opeth is 'fucking bullshit'?

  • @wedonttastetheair They are fucking bullshit. No depth in it, they just fucking suck.

  • @Peppepoppldoppl such a fucktard..

  • @wedonttastetheair Yeah I know.

  • @wedonttastetheair IS THAT A CYNIC REFERENCE IN YOUR USERNAME

    Also I love Opeth

  • simply art!!

  • these guys sound like me when i jam by myself.w. with a bad ass long delay

  • amazing.. this isn`t music, cuz music became comercial.. this is art..

  • maudlin of the Well is one of the few bands which can make me listen again and again without thinking "oh I want to listen to something unknown, that gets boring after a time".

I really loved this band and Kayo Dot is great, too, but their new

albums are too experimental and "crazy" for me :(

  • i can't tell if these are being posted, so if they are...sorry for the repeated posts. maudlin of the well is releasing part the second on vinyl in a limited pressing of 500. 250 each color. they will be shipped at the end of September.

  • wow they have a sax!? its like opeth even more jazzier

  • @acidbath32 It's like Opeth, only way better

  • @guitrguy21 Woah, woah, woah... I don't know about that. Clearly you like Opeth, and then you found Maudlin and you started listening to them more, but keep some perspective-- Opeth and Maudlin are from completely different planets. You can't compare them at all. Maudlin is experimental, avant garde metal with elements of post/gaze at times. Opeth is not experimental at all. They're progressive and have strong elements of doom/stoner metal.

Now, with that said, both are amazing.

  • @dreamorigami They are death metal man not doom metal

  • @guitrguy21 @guitrguy21 Woah, woah, woah... • @dreamorigami No offense meant but when I hear all those fancy words and such about genres it reminds how much I hate genres and how pretentious it sounds. It's hard not to do it, I do it quite a bit myself but man. It's just so close to being nonsense...Ex: Avant jazzcore stoner woodland black post sludge neo thrash prog/metal/rockcore.

  • @1sidedMediation I agree. Sub-Genres are what's ruining modern metal. Who cares what it's called?! We should care what it sounds like.

  • @Sunderlanding absolutley right bro

  • @1sidedMediation I don't swear by genre's but they really are quite useful. Think of them as adjectives -- words that can help you describe something. Words don't have to have a single strict denotation, just as genre's don't have to be a strict classification. It never hurts to have a wider vocabulary, right?

  • @1sidedMediation " Ex: Avant jazzcore stoner woodland black post sludge neo thrash prog/metal/rockcore. "

The only time I have ever seen someone talk about genres and type something like that, is when complaining about others talking about genres. Besides, it's just a sign of the diversity of Metal. I don't see anything to get annoyed over.

  • @guitrguy21

No, it's like Opeth, but nothing like Opeth.

    Oh, and immensely better.

  • @SpeshelEdTed "Better than Opeth." Your crazy. Music isn't about following the rules obviously. But these guys don't even break them properly. There is a good and a bad way to play out of key. These guys do it the bad way. I think the only reason you say there better than Opeth is because there more eccentric. Being different in & of itself doesn't make them good. It's not at all ear pleasing to me.

  • @simonize251 then you've clearly missed the point of their music, no big deal

why do you feel the needlessly assertive need to press your bad vibes on everyone else?

  • @simonize251 You know, you're entitled to your opinion of not liking them, but there is no 'proper way to break rules', that statement is just ridiculous at a basic conceptual level. This band isn't even hardly atonal, compared to many more avant-garde bands (and later Kayo Dot as well) or hell, most 20th century and modern classical composers are more dissonant than this.

And eccentricity is considered a plus to me, and most fans of avant-garde. But after all, that's just like, my opinion man

  • @signoreawesome 'proper way to break rules' that kind of statment is oxymoronic that is like saying there is rules to braking rules :) but then you can simply say that Maudlin decded to break those rules as well. :)

  • Ethereal- extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world; perfect way to describe this song

  • sooooooo relaxing.... this and a drink on a beach at sunset was a lifetime experience for me

  • My music theory teacher was a touring member of this band. Awesomesauce! She played the saxophone live

  • I just recently found this band with Part the Second and I've not been this impressed in a long time. Does anyone know where I could get some of their older stuff for a reasonable price, if not free?

  • As far as I know, their first three albums are out of print. 'my Fruit PsychoBells...a seed combustible' is their first album and was reissued in 2008. 'Bath' and 'Leaving Your Body Map,' which were originally released as companion albums (their two best albums, in my opinion), were both reissued in 2006. I know the '06 reissues have since been sold out. The '08 reissue might still be available, though I'm not sure.

  • @Biermacht529 yes the first is still available.

  • too underrated.

  • @eviltube1111 Not underrated at all. I've seen nothing but positive reactions to this album and band.

  • one of the most underrated bands

  • yeah one of the underrated bands ever, this is true art at its finest

  • ahhh i used to love this song.. i think im going to find leaving your body map and bath and listen to them now.. thanks

  • I just got into MOTW! And I FUCKIN LOVE THEM!!!! One of the best Avant Garde bands ever. Hell one of the best bands ever!

  • maudlin of the Well IS SO FUCKING GOOD!!

  • hmm not feeling it. maybe it'll eventually click

  • @LegalDuck listen to it in the most peaceful environment you can think of

  • haha its all good it clicked man. one of my fav albums now

  • This was the only song that didn't really click for me. I like to listen to it on the beach in the morning.

This album has so many perfect moments. One of my favorite moments is when the woman starts singing in The Ferryman. Gets me every time!

  • so ive listened to every motw album as a whole over 30 times, and i honestly don't like the music any less, in fact it means more to me every time. There is no band as mysterious as motw. Also, you should be excited, this song is being changed up a bit and added on the new album, probably as a bonus track, im not sure how that is gonna work out, but stay tuned. I posted secret song on my page so help me get some views, a lot of motw fans didnt find the bonus tracks! youd be surprised

  • Do you know when that's gonna come out? I've been waiting since February when they started recording. It only took them 3 weeks to record the whole new album, and Toby said to a fan on his Facebook Page that it would be released in March when it was finished.

  • yeah i just recently this week noticed someone else had commented on the new material, but i haven't heard anything about its actual release, the guy might have just been close to the band or something. Ill definitely let you know if i hear anything; please do the same for me if you hear as well

  • Will do, man.

  • The new album has been out, guys...

  • tree of life

  • amazing

  • masterful.

  • Dude I could listen to this song my entire life

Its like 10 times better laying in a field at night under the stars

  • How about listening to it laying in a field at night under the stars?

    That'd be something.

  • @TeeHeeHee123 Also High

  • @TeeHeeHee123

Yes me too i imagined that :)

This is a very very impressive song..

  • @TeeHeeHee123

    Done it before:D

    Also listening to king crimson

  • @TeeHeeHee123 TeeHeeHee!

  • @TeeHeeHee123 that's the first time I listened to the album :)

  • Oh my god the first two minutes are heaven

  • people wonder why stoners exist.

it's because of amazing songs like this

  • who wonders?

  • old people who eat fun for breakfast

  • i take it this album should be listened to all the way through, for first time listeners? this track alone is pretty boring but maybe in the context of the whole album it's more entertaining?

  • listen to both albums throughly, they are the best thing ever.

  • No this song won't get any more "entertaining" per se. But listening to the album as a whole is a whole different experience than just this song. It's cathartic really.

  • the tuning on this song is D F# D F# C# E

also the same tuning for Secret Song, Interludes 1-4, and Stones of October's Sobbing

  • Amazing song - i think i know what song i'm going to listen to when smoking up tomorrow :D

  • -garden song-undine and underwater flowers ... what maudlin song isn't total bad ass.. you tell me

  • I wish they did more material closer to the song Gleam In Ranks. that was an amazing song.

  • I completely agree. Gleam in Ranks had a really awesome jazzy-sound to it, and it's easily my favorite maudlin song.

    Love it, love maudlin.

  • maudlin of the well is amazing. kayo dot is incredible though. choirs of the eye is an absolutely immense masterpiece.. one of my favs

  • maudlin of the Well is not of this world. one of my favorite bands.

  • @CynicalGuitarist ozric tentacles , porcupine tree

  • @CynicalGuitarist

You are def right, they usually put together their music by lucid dreaming, and relate it to astral projection. Makes sense that they are not from this world:) :)

  • I love the mood in this song.

Really inspiring stuff, gotta check them out.

  • maudlin of the Wall rullz !

  • yes!

  • It sounds really good! I'll definitely check em out!
