I just have one single question, other than that i'm all for a RBE.
How do you allocate resouces without the pricing mechanism? How do you do the calculation in the computer to compare items and decide people's preferences?
A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it
I honestly feel that before any of you start calling each other names and debating this, you all should study MEMEs. The argument will change to a productive one because all the BS will be taken out of the argument.
Well, memes make up almost all of our ideas. So, how can you say you have a point of view to argue with when your ideas are not even yours? You only have picked up memes that work with other memes and have built an idea that you call yours. Which is really silly because its not.
You are an ignorant twit. You know nothing about the Christianities of old nor the diverse Christianities of present-day. You know nothing about History. You know nothing about Science. You are an uncritical, media-brainwashed, prejudiced motherfucker.
Fresco offered an accurate portrayal of Catholicism. I'm quite sure Carlin wasn't influenced by Fresco. Carlin was raised Catholic. That's where he got his material.
Fresco's understanding of religion is restricted to the present-day mainstream christianities, and some surface-deep trivia about a few eastern religions.
i think religion is the least of our concerns for the future, the most important point they make (zeitgeist) is that energy problem does have a very simple solution/solutions,technology is vital for solving a lot of our problems and the monetary system doesnt go side by side with evolution of society for many reasons(see the zeitgeist addendum).i think talking about religion, and he is this and that is irrelevant, all the facts are in front of us to make a decision
I was pointing out that Fresco's understanding of Judeo-Christology runs about as deep as a George Carlin bit. He was straw-manning. I'm not sure what relevance A.I. has in regards to this, but whatever.
Don't second-guess what I understand or am willing to accept. Explain the relevance of A.I.

That's like asking "If a boeing 757 didn't hit the Pentagon, then where is it?".
This guy needs to google the phrase "logical fallacy", and spend some time READING for a change. ...instead of pretending to be smart, recycling tired old cliches.
wow so smart peter, jacques and roxanne, hate th say the people asked stupid questions, but its like they came in with the thought they are gonna ask this question and shut off there brain for the whole show then turned it on again during the q and a?
exactly how i feel stelerscyth, really what i think will become an issue is that this society is major advances in science and AI is very real and will be advanced along with everything else. So ther will inevitably be debate on whether its well humane i guess to create a being that is self aware, thus capable of corruption in the means of self interest and capable of interfacing with the technology that helps us live like bots in hospitals, crop growing machines etc. "if those laptops had AI"
I don't think we should view any question as idiotic. People are affected by different types of environment, so I think there are many people will the same question - especially after movies like Terminator!
And this is in line with the principle of the movement - words like idiots have no meaning anymore if they are product of the environment.
Yes, the question is how can computers have emotions? All they do is calculate. They do not have hate or envy. Ignorance of science is manifisting your fears of AI.
honestly some of these questions make the public look extremely uneducated... im not saying im super smart or anything but questions about science fiction topics such as robots killing us are extremely immature. Also show some respect and stop clapping every time you get the chance ffs
or you could take the point of view that those people are only showing support and positivity for humane ideas, and their understanding of a subject, or lack thereof is more of a product of social conditioning and ignorance, whereas your critisism and negativity toward thier positivity... well...
Ha seriously?? Thats the next place i want to visit, i was thinking Chavez might be the kinda guy to be open to such a thing. Fucking A. Ill start spreading the word when i finally do get down there ^ ^
The question about a machine killing someone because of a determination is kind of silly... If someone wants to die, it's his/her will :S Why should life be taking away by a machine? o.o It doesn't make sense, individual life in itself it's totally subjective, there's no objective decision to that... It depends entirely in the person's will... Machines will do the objective things... Leave subjective questions to the feelings of the people :D
Depends how they program the AI that will be the brain of the decision making. A bit like the IRobot scenario or the Terminator scenario.. The AI is built to learn and assimilate new information by itself. The AI is programmed to uphold maximum efficiency in dealing with everything from food requirements to housing etc..etc.. If in it's calculations, it comes to the conclusion that it would be FAR more efficient if such or such person didn't live.
I still dont know how is food gonna be produced to satisfy all the people, this will be a very very slow process, its all about exchanging point of views of everyone to get an overall conclusion.. and take action...
My argument was towards Fresco, not our technological capabilities. His analogy of breaking a computer in front of other computers was very irrelevant in my opinion.
I didn't see Fresco acknowledge the realities of AI once in this video. His answer to the question was very unknowledgeable ...
I support the Venus Project and The Zeitgeist Movement. Don't get me wrong guys.
I agree with the AI part, I would like to hear his thoughts on AI etc, he's got answers for alot of things so I'm sure he's already considered this and has his answers
We have to understand that Fresco is not perfect. I have seen some footage where i got a bit aggravated because in some situations he seems to miss the point or essence of the question. The fact is that he's a 92 year old man and like the rest of us, a product of society made throughout his entire life. Have you noticed that JF nearly always explains something by giving an example of a situation in the past.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Fresco clearly doesn't understand that machines of the future will have emotion and perhaps even consciousness. The advances in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics will allow for a new world, where the difference between human and machine will be very unclear. However that doesn't make his ideas invalid. My point is such: We will have to be very careful with our implementation of an automated governing society - especially if the intelligence of such is far beyond unaided human intelligence
well the fact is that every emotion is triggered by hormones or substances in your brain. first of all a computer at this stage is not biological thus they are not able to respond on chemical reactions caused by these substances causing then emotions. so even if they had consciousness they wouldn't react to situational circumstances the same way but in a logical way. and by all means murder pain and being inequal is not logical. So i'm not really concerned about this issue
Thanks for putting this up...I was there as well last night, and after I was trying to leave some notes on the Ustream board last night when I found out that the webcast didn't work for a lot of people.

Sometimes they are of vital importance yet other times they are.. unclear rather, wouldn't say incorrect, just blurry thoughts on the question.
He is old and still does things or explains them in old ways. Which is not necissarily a bad thing.
Sorry for the double comment, didnt have enough characters left to explain what I wanted to say.

I think he does. He is just sure that we will not make any artificial intelligence that has the ability to do things we do not approve of.
And with no reason to do evil, humans will not program the computers to do harmful things or make virusses or other things.

We won't make machines with faulty human capacity.
MrSammo1 3 years ago
machines can only have free will or AI if human programs them to have such. So not machines are the threat but people.
DragOzze 3 years ago 2
It's not free will that we should be worried about. It's rational agents. We don't have free will.
