This just shows how fucked up the US is. They make shows of things that didnt happen, and werent even close to happening. They are talking with actors, some of them even knew who they spoke to were over 18 and yet they get sentenced for it. And the show acts like a judge. And 25 years of jail for having sex with someone who were bound to have it in a couple months/years anyway. They get the time times 25 in jail. Nice fucking logic... NOT!

this is a little different that straight vs. gay. this is preference for adults vs. children. people generally accept the fact that homosexuality is not an "illness," as it was once diagnosed. On the other hand, pedophilia is still seen as a mental illness by most people. Therefore, i believe there is at least a possibility for these people to change with professional help. Conclusion - a life sentence is too harsh for child predators, because they are not murderers, they are psychopaths

If as you say its an illness then I beileve the best that you can hope for through mental health schemes is self awareness of right and wrong after that its down to the individual whether they will re-offend again. there isnt any straight vs gay both are equal homosexuality is not to be confused with what "you" call an illness. I have a daughter that's gay and see no wrong in her choise of preferance, one of my best friends is gay.

It's like a... flaw of character for lack of a better term. These men aren't evil, they just have desires that most people do not possess. Acting on these desires is different than every other crime and therefor it should not lead to imprisonment. A mental hospital, not jail, is the best place for pedophiles.

Maybe a mental institution for those that haven't offended would be a place for them, but for those that have offended prison /remote island, or injection if they scar a life then a life should scared, eye for an eye, TV is a way of scaring them and letting those with children know there where about (safety). remote island is inconceivable, lethal injection is immoral. this is a serious problem with no clear solution. To most criminals you could say "oh, i could see why you would want to steal, deal drugs, and assault someone you hate." most crimes are benifit people, and a normal person could make sense of why one would engage in them. Also, most people would agree that a little time in jail would help them to rethink their actions and change. It does not work the same here.

Having sufferd violent child and teen abuse for years myself, and having a best friend that sufferd sexual abuse as a child and teen I as an adult now have come to terms with what has happened in my past but its taken 36 years I'm 40 now, so i have a rough Idea on the effects of abuse, so I do have a slight insight to how their victims feel, and death isnt to strong for offenders they can distroy a hole life... and leave just the shell of a person left. they leave a person dead inside.
