  • "The payroll tax goes up every year based on wage growth" It has been going up for quite awhile. FICA CAP for 2000 was $76,200 FICA CAP for 2001 was $80,400 FICA CAP for 2002 was $84,900 FICA CAP for 2003 was $87,000 FICA CAP for 2004 was $87,900 FICA CAP for 2005 was $90,000 FICA CAP for 2006 was $94,200 FICA CAP for 2007 was $97,500 FICA CAP for 2008 was 102,000 So what's the debate
  • The payroll tax percent is what they are talking about not the income level. The dollar amount goes up as the national average income goes up but the rate stays at 15.3%. 12.4% for incomes and 2.9% for self employeds. They are talking about raising the percent on top of the income.

  • Who is talking about that ?

All I've ever heard any candidate talk about on the FICA tax is raising the cap , nothing about raising the % from 12.4%.

Point me to some video of anyone talking about raising the %.

  • both mccain and obama have shifted their positions on various issues, there is nothing wrong with that, conditions change and noone can be sure on what the future is

  • lyndsey graham is a pile of puke .

  • McCain as changeable as the weather.
