If you're doing it sync, then you're probably throwing them at pretty much the same height. If they're really crossing on the same plane, then one is at least slightly before the other. You should work on making the 1st throw higher and the 2nd throw lower.
53 can't be truly sync, b/c the 5 takes longer to get back to your hand. You'd have to pause with the 3 already caught to wait to throw them together again.
Yeah, i mastered maybe a week and half or so ago, in the process i got 53 asynch down on my right hand but the left one is still a little shaky, this tutorial helped a lot though! Plus i sort of want to try out your suggestion, thanks a bunch.
In siteswap terms, doing the equicvalent of 53 in sync is (6x,4x) meaning both throws are crossing, but instead of being at 3/5 height, both throws are actually one notch higher than their asynch equivalents. You could try doing single 53s from asynch, remembering that the 5 is lower than the (6x,..) you usually do, and that the 3 is probably even more compact than the 4.
I realise only now that you asked this a month ago, so probably mastered this 2 weeks ago, but still...
my problem with this trick, is instead of throwing a 4 and then a 5, I end up throwing 2 4's that are almost synchronized. Maybe I need higher cielings??

What do you do if you learned 53 synchronously? I can't seem to be able to do it asynchronously

Nice tutorial. Thanks.
So far I am only able to do the 534 from one side. Still working on the other side.

In my latest video i do a variation of it having the 3's in reverse from both sides. It's really tricky but once you get it it really looks cool.
Btw, thanks for this video, although it comes a little late, i think many people will find it useful.
