Jericho does do his own promos. He is one of only a few that Vince ever let do their own stuff. Others include Rock and SCSA and such. Everyone else is scripted but the lucky few are able to do what they want. As for his new gimmick, Jericho himself choose this gimmick. He wanted it and Vince gave it to him.

You wanna know how it surpassed all those? It's quite simple my friend. The attitude era revolutionized sports entertainment and made it what it is today. Stars like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Chris Jericho, the list goes on and on as you know. Are there great wrestlers not from this era? No doubt. But up until these guys came along, the WWF/Sports Entertainment in general was not the great spectacle that it is today. That, my friend, is how it surpasses all your nominees (Including WCW)

Yes,those are all well and good, and I, too am a huge fan of hardcore wrestling. tell me.. which of those styles is still around today? Is ECW still in existance? When's the last time a hardcore match was had? You think Lucha Libre is still a main factor? wrestling has been the same since the attitude era. Why mess with success? The other styles are excellent, no argument there. But the attitude era sparked a new form of wrestling that is still around today, making it the greatest of all time.
