Soundgarden and audioslave are almost tied...but Audioslave is the best there is...and forget de la rocha...no offense to anyone who likes him other than a few songs..
WTF i don't understand Chris...says he doesn't want anything to do with soundgarden and here he is covering them...and with the albums cover art no less...*confused*
I agree. Soundgarden is awesome. Alice In Chains was good but I'd rather listen to Soundgarden for sure. I love Nirvana too though. Not because it was "hip" though. Nirvana wrote a bunch of what I call "fun songs" that was almost kind of pop and was catchy. But yes, Soundgarden. I was extremely sad and surprised when they broke up. You hear a song like this one and it's like, "Fucking reunite already!"
Soundgarden was way more than a Grunge band, just as AIC and Pearl Jam were WAY more than Grunge bands. It's kind of sad they all got stuck in the same category just because they were from Seattle, none of them sound alike.
This is possibly the most ridiculous comment ever. Now with the Beatles, I can understand saying they are overrated because they really are. They were only around for like 5 years and it's obvious from solo careers Paul was the source of the real magic.
You will NEVER find someone who hasn't heard or doesn't know a Zep song.
The same can't be said for Rage.
In fact to prove my point dl all the Zep songs you can and see how different they are in regards to feel, rythm, style etc.
Do the same with Rage and you get a bad case of "Iron Maidenitis."
The same shit over and over again.
Zack screamin in a mic, Tom BARELY pluckin a pentatonic scale and killing his sound with too much delay and octave shifter (it's that thing that makes him sound like he's playing high notes)
If anyone was ever overrated, it was Morello as a guitarist. In fact I'd venture to say his pedals are more talented than he.
And that's cuz I actually like several Rage tunes. ;)
@procraft look man, no pedals, no amps and no picks.
This is real skill look up Air Tap by Erik Mongrain
For those who don't play instruments what this guy does takes straight up percision, electric amps and distortion just allow you to be sloppy and get away with things by amplifying sound...this guy is class, and he's still not even the best I've seen/heard.
Yes, that guy is good indeed. But it's not the same style or genre, and it's a completely different thing. Tom Morello is a more creative guitarist, but not as talented. I hope you understand what I mean. What this guy Erik Mongrain does has already been done, but Morello creates new things that nobody have heard before on a guitar.
I hear what you're saying but you need to choose your words more carefully.
You make it sound like "Tom Morello is a totally original artist".
Which is completely false and wrong.
I give him props for taking pedals that already existed apart and tinkering a bit so that they produce different sounds but that's how ALL pedals came to be, someone took one and started jackin with it.
That One Guy is really inventive indeed, not so sure about the other guys though.
Anyways, it's not about being able to play someone elses work. Imagine how many there are that do covers on Metallica songs for instance, but none of them are able to make such riffs. Same thing about Rage, and Tom Morello, his riffs are extremely unique. Even if someone can play his riffs, they don't have his writing ability.
yeah Sxip Shirey is more on par with John Cage making ambience and music without traditional instruments, Patton has worked John Zorn, an avant garde composer as well.

That is obviously Tim on bass, not Ben as Ben let his bass hang to his knees while Tim held it to his chest. Kim never cut his hair close nor wore a hat while playing. It's pretty obvious that that would be Tom, not Kim on guitar then. Oh yeah and Matt doesn't have long black hair. It's a projection screen behind them with the Badmotorfinger symbol, showing the audience both a cool design and what album the song came from. Watch the video before calling people idiots... idiot.

Yeah... I always thought the same about "Hurt" by NIN. It just makes me respect Cash more for being open to good music, even if it came from a younger generation.

Whoa, there cowboy. It'll be ok. Just take a few breaths. It's a tune better left in Soundgarden's memory, in my opinion. No major sin or anything. I'd just rather they not play it.
I'm still trying to understand how Guns n' Roses has anything to do with this at all....very odd digression...hmm..?? Weird.
It's audioslave. You can tell bythe wat Tim holds his Bass Guitar, plus near the end it gets a clearer image for half a second and you can see Tom Morrelo.
First of all: why are you telling me "you have some problems"... the only thing I did was to ask a simple question! Second: thanks for the info... Third: I did'nt watch the video to the end because of the poor quality so I did'nt get a good look. Fourth: and yes I can tell Morrelo form Thayil, but I think it's a litte difficult to tell Shepherd from Commerford in this. Fitht: Do you consider doing a couple of anger-management sessions?!
I just think that neither band was ever anymore than the sum of their parts.
I'd say both have done some good songs & some not so good songs, but i think more often than not the different sides of the band tended to clash..
At their worst Audioslave sounded like RATM with Chris Cornell shrieking over the top of it & VR sounded like some of the heavier STP songs, but with Slash noodling over the top of it.
the band Audioslave takes after Ratm and Soundgarden when the play there songs, why don't you idiots actually think before posting "why do they have a soundgarden logo???"
Yngwie, Satch, Vai, the list goes on with people that are better than Wylde. I will give him props on the fact that he can write a hell of a riff - I love "No More Tears", Ozzy's best if you ask me.
i'm sorry - but if you have all the passion in the world it doesn't mean shit if you can't play. vai is better and thats the end of the story. you can't say he doesn't play with passion because he does. he can actually write music and wylde can't. he can write riffs just as good as wylde if not better. sorry if you disagree, but you can't teach someone good taste in music (i kid of course)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And Tom Morello is a shitty singer who tries and fails to be Johnny Cash. He's a great guitarist, just like Wylde, but his solo stuff sucks, pretty much like Wylde. I will, any day, put up any Ozzy song feat. Wylde on guitar up against Black Label Society, just like I would any Rage song (even though I don't like Rage) or Audioslave song (same as Rage) against any Morello song. Its just the fact that they're guitarists and should focus on just playing guitar.
You can't put a Rage or Audioslave song up against any of Tom Morello's solo work; in the Nightwatchman it's just him and a nylon strung acoustic guitar, which he uses to voice his views. His bands were rock bands, and didn't write folk songs, so I'd struggle to make any useful comparison.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The comparrison is this = I think Rage sucks (thanks to de la Rocha), and the Nightwatchman is a shitty project (thanks to Morello), so I think the thing the three have in common is that Morello can't make good decisions for shite.
true, because audio slave is ratm with out zack de la rocha, but chris cornll has some credit to so, i wasnt their but they might have done lots of soundgarden songs as a tribute
actually at their shows they usually play more Soundgarden songs than RATM, and the band sounds way more like soundgarden than rage, especially in the latter 2 albums
You can make out Morello. He's got the guitar strapped up kinda high (his usual style of guitar stance). Cornell's voice is at it's Audioslave raspiness when he goes into the higher notes. Cornell would be playing guitar if it was SG (he did to the very end with them).
Gotcha, you probably know better than I because I have never followed Audioslave, but the almighty Soundgarden, well thats a different story. Thanks....
...you would know gay with those fucking random, unorigional, stupid-looking, IMITATED fucking sleeves you got; bro. fucking HATE stupid ass tattoos; might as well get some other MIMICKED shit like a Little Debbie logo to match all that shit. if you don't respect Audioslave, then you don't know shit about music. people that think Metal (as much as i love it myself) is the ONLY music that's worth a damn are just as blind, boring, and LAME as fucking emo or pop-loving retards. seriously.
Oh man, me too I missed Audioslave in Vancouver... that was sick month... Pearl Jam Oasis and Audioslave all in one month! I only skipped AS at the time since I went to the other two... oh how I regret it now. I would now give up PJ and Oasis concerts just for the Audioslave one.
guys come on, different bands and styles, and philosophies, I think they are all on the same level, except for Timmy C. He's one of the best bass players, if not the best playing today.
shitty video ok audio but after watching that my attention span was that of a farret on crack, way to much movement. love Soundgarden, Rage, Chris Cornell, and Audioslave.
It's the hair. When it got shorter from each album to the next, so did his vocal range; I think it started around Superunknown...check out "Beyond The Wheel" from Ultramega OK; no way he's going to hit those notes anymore.
He's still in my top 5 favorite singers, though...
i know its been six months since you wrote this but i got to say i saw him three times on his new solo tour and your wrong his pipes r better than ever just thought id let you know since your a fan cornell is god
There are a lot of songs out there where Chris' voice is okay, except that when you look at how he physically struggles to reach the note, it ruins the whole thing.
that looks soo much like circa 91 bmf shit, but you can tell that merello there on the right and then you can recognize the rest of the band... as for this lyrics arguements your all fuckin dumb, check the linear notes. ben sheppard wrote a track on superunown, and did some of the music on down on the upside...yeah
Don't let the shitty camera fool you. Its the best i could sneak into the venue. But it IS Audioslave. They also played some Rage Against the Machine songs live with a big red star in the background.
buuuuuuuuu...... you can not do that!! it´s offensive man! that song is Soundgarden song!!!

Yngwie, Satch, Vai, the list goes on with people that are better than Wylde. I will give him props on the fact that he can write a hell of a riff - I love "No More Tears", Ozzy's best if you ask me.
tehawes0mesauce 3 years ago
yngwie satch and vai are musical wankers wylde plays heavy ass riff awsome solos and plays with passion
spudsucker 3 years ago
i'm sorry - but if you have all the passion in the world it doesn't mean shit if you can't play. vai is better and thats the end of the story. you can't say he doesn't play with passion because he does. he can actually write music and wylde can't. he can write riffs just as good as wylde if not better. sorry if you disagree, but you can't teach someone good taste in music (i kid of course)

Zack Wylde has a much better voice than Morello and he is the first metal guitarist to use chicken-picking in songs. Thank you, come again.
tehawes0mesauce 3 years ago
Except Zakk Wylde is a shitty singer who tries and fails to be Layne Staley. Great guitarist, but thank you, come again

Its just the fact that they're guitarists and should focus on just playing guitar.
tehawes0mesauce 3 years ago
You can't put a Rage or Audioslave song up against any of Tom Morello's solo work; in the Nightwatchman it's just him and a nylon strung acoustic guitar, which he uses to voice his views. His bands were rock bands, and didn't write folk songs, so I'd struggle to make any useful comparison.

The comparrison is this = I think Rage sucks (thanks to de la Rocha), and the Nightwatchman is a shitty project (thanks to Morello), so I think the thing the three have in common is that Morello can't make good decisions for shite.

zakk wylde is nothing but scooped mids and obnoxious pinch harmonics.

whys is there a soundgarden logo thing behind the drummer????
aclreuxe 3 years ago
i think they used to be sg
100000014 3 years ago
read the title it says "audioslave" why would audioslave have a soundgarden logo in the b/g,if anythin they would have a ratm logo
aclreuxe 3 years ago
It might be a projection. I'm not sure
Greensmurf 3 years ago
true, because audio slave is ratm with out zack de la rocha, but chris cornll has some credit to so, i wasnt their but they might have done lots of soundgarden songs as a tribute
JustinBruinsma 3 years ago
actually at their shows they usually play more Soundgarden songs than RATM, and the band sounds way more like soundgarden than rage, especially in the latter 2 albums
although most of toms solos are very RATM
bobbybushae339 3 years ago
haha, that's awesome- the Badmotorfinger label
warzIbanez 3 years ago
The whole band sound awesome live.
EnterSandman27 3 years ago
i know i saw them
awkook 3 years ago
Yeah that's Audioslave.
Why?
You can make out Morello. He's got the guitar strapped up kinda high (his usual style of guitar stance). Cornell's voice is at it's Audioslave raspiness when he goes into the higher notes. Cornell would be playing guitar if it was SG (he did to the very end with them).
So yes. It is Audioslave.
JoeSidhu 3 years ago
Absolutely correct. Morello is unmistakable. End of story.

I don't think that's Audiogay either. That's the Badmotorfinger logo in the background...
feistyxcadaver 3 years ago
trust me. It's Audioslave. They covered some rage songs too and they put ap a big red star in the background.
then when they played their own songs they had the out of exile "water" CD cover visuals.

WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?! Chris should have NEVER agreed to put the BADMOTORFINGER symbol in the background, holy shit that fuckin pisses me off.
SoundgardenReunion 3 years ago
Gotcha, you probably know better than I because I have never followed Audioslave, but the almighty Soundgarden, well thats a different story. Thanks....
feistyxcadaver 3 years ago
...you would know gay with those fucking random, unorigional, stupid-looking, IMITATED fucking sleeves you got; bro. fucking HATE stupid ass tattoos; might as well get some other MIMICKED shit like a Little Debbie logo to match all that shit. if you don't respect Audioslave, then you don't know shit about music. people that think Metal (as much as i love it myself) is the ONLY music that's worth a damn are just as blind, boring, and LAME as fucking emo or pop-loving retards. seriously.
oblivenous 3 years ago 6
No shit, Sherlock. They used it on the "Out of Exile"-tourm during the SG covers. You didn't solve any mysteries here, and I award you NO points.

i dont think thats audioslave

Soundgarden was better but Audioslave is still awesome. And the former Rage team did a good job, and Cornell was good as usual

This was in Vancouver, Canada. At GM place in the fall of 2005.
i think they were touring for the Out of Exile album
TuEnemigo 4 years ago
thx..
but do you think that the AUDIOSLAVE vill come in tour in 2008?
jammerinix 4 years ago
Audioslave split up, and I remember Chris Cornell saying they would never get back together.
I'm pissed too, I missed the one in Vancouver, and then after revelations they split.
DarkxElite 4 years ago
Oh man, me too I missed Audioslave in Vancouver... that was sick month... Pearl Jam Oasis and Audioslave all in one month! I only skipped AS at the time since I went to the other two... oh how I regret it now. I would now give up PJ and Oasis concerts just for the Audioslave one.

alright here it is people
Chris Cornell = Zack de la Rocha
Tom Morello > Kim Thayil
Tim Commerford = Ben Shepherd
Matt Cameron > Brad Wilk
bluemilk123 4 years ago
i disagree tom morello < kim thayil.
Tom Morello's wicked but he's kind of a one trick pony that peaked on Rage's debut. Kim Thayil got better with age (SG's superunknown is best)
kumaraisin 4 years ago
guys come on, different bands and styles, and philosophies, I think they are all on the same level, except for Timmy C. He's one of the best bass players, if not the best playing today.

the drummer is bad.
tangbuckley 5 years ago
It's the hair. When it got shorter from each album to the next, so did his vocal range; I think it started around Superunknown...check out "Beyond The Wheel" from Ultramega OK; no way he's going to hit those notes anymore.
He's still in my top 5 favorite singers, though...
dedculture 5 years ago
I agree, but what about Burden In My Hand from Down On the Upside, that's pretty hard to hit too

There are a lot of songs out there where Chris' voice is okay, except that when you look at how he physically struggles to reach the note, it ruins the whole thing.

Darn! that looked exactly liek the palce iw as at, it was about 4000 seats. how big was that?
fro0d 5 years ago
No, we happen to have good seats, it's actually a big venue. GM Place in Vancouver, Canada. Home of the Vancouver Canucks. Seats more than 4000.
TuEnemigo 5 years ago
Was that in Columbus?
fro0d 5 years ago
No it was not in Columbus, but it was in 2005, so i'm sure the shows didn't differ very much in North America.
TuEnemigo 5 years ago
Was that in columbus Ohio? 2005? If so, I was there. And that is audioslave playing, they played a few Rage songs too.
fro0d 5 years ago
that looks soo much like circa 91 bmf shit, but you can tell that merello there on the right and then you can recognize the rest of the band... as for this lyrics arguements your all fuckin dumb, check the linear notes. ben sheppard wrote a track on superunown, and did some of the music on down on the upside...yeah

It's obvious that the band playing in this video is Soundgarden, not Audioslave, recorded circa 1991 during the Badmotorfinger tour.
CowboyShoes 5 years ago
Don't let the shitty camera fool you. Its the best i could sneak into the venue. But it IS Audioslave. They also played some Rage Against the Machine songs live with a big red star in the background.

Cornell wrote every signle Soundgarden ever had expect Jesus Christ Pose, which was writtin by all our members.
