Each time the teacher shows a new example and all the students start to play it is sounds like a really bad horror film! I do wish I was sitting in the circle trying to play those serious licks.
im hooked on gypsy jazz, anyone can shred with effects and super slinky action Ibanez electric guitars but take it back to this stuff and every note has to be precise and clean and thats the real teqnizzle for shizzle.
i aagre with you, spankazoid. I also think gypsie jazz is more musically interesting and has more of a variety of playing than super slinky ibanez shredding.Teenage subculture and mass marketing not included in jazz XD.
Ha ha, yes you're right. I didn't have a gitane guitar back then. I have adopted the reststroke technique since, and it sure helps to achieve that loud pick attack and gypsy sound!

Gitane makes the best gypsy jazz guitars. They are crazy expensive and rare though.

"Down, down, up, down, pull-off, up."
Sooo much easier with only alternate picking, at least for me. I know it's for the accents but at this speed there's not much difference IMO he he.
Keep it up & long life to the gypsies!

if u play with alternate picking, it doesnt sound manouche, that's all..
