Saughat, where Parvez Malik cast Nadeem for the first time, was actually much-inspired by Guru Dutts Pyasa. Yet, the film was not just focusing on a poets life, and included the attitude of the literary elite of the society, whose congresses and groups hardly promote literature, but try to take the credit of introducing young and talented poets and short story-writers as their pupils. That was a major aspect, which wasnt discussed in detail in Pyasa.
