Alot of people ask why Letterman still has J.J. on. Fact is when Letterman first moved to California. JJ Jimmie Walker gave his his first comedy gig. At the time JJ was a huge star because of Good Times and did Dave a solid as he was a virtual nobody in comedy. Because of this Jimmie walker gets booked and gets appearances on random tv shows.
Barack Obama.. 20/20 is a bitch...wake up folks two wings of the same bird.if your not perceptive enough to know what i am talking about.do the research..if not you will be dead soon...have a nice day
This is my second time watching Jimmy Walker on an interview, he seems a bit strange to me. I can't see myself paying good money to see him to stand up comedy.
That's a funny story, but no way that's true. No way people are stupid enough to kick somebody out of a hotel for a Finger Gun. I guess it's a good thing he didn't say his DYN-O-Mite catch phrase or they would have labeled him a terrorist.
he luks dead imo! it is nice that he still sounds like JJ but omg what happened? he is not even funny a like that...dag the only pretty one frm Good Times is still Thelma, lol! I even saw how old Wilona was in Charlies Angels 2,wow!
Mr. Walker's story reminds me of a friend of mine in Springfield MO. He has a blog that he calls Desdinova the Super Villain of the Ozarks. He as a joke says he has a death raygun and a giant killer robot. A officer at Springfield PD told him they receive at least one call a week from someone wanting the police to arrest him before he turns the robot loose.
How could the American education system have produced me if I've schooled in England all my life...
"William Shakespeare was a slave owner and had plantations". Those were your exact words... look back at your first comment. Being a shareholder and having slaves and plantations are completely different things. I'm a shareholder in a bank, but I don't claim to have bankers that work for me. It's not about reading more dude, it's about understanding the things you read.
Shakespeare never had plantations and was never a slave owner. He lived in London. It's almost like saying someone had plantations in New York City... London's a city. Not many playwrights would have had slaves cos they wouldn't have had much use for them, and they would barely have been able to afford them either. So you definitely shouldn't get angry reading Shakespeare's work.
i work at THAT best western and ian is my boss and it didnt happen that way at all, he was kicked out for not saying sorry for touching the girls face all creepy like
you're right, what he said brings back awful memories of when white americans were enslaved and forced to work in cotton fields by black slaveowners...a really insensitive remark on mr.Walker's part, you don't joke on the white man's lot
Guess what? That did, in fact, happen. Back in those days in the U.S., sometimes Europeans who couldn't afford faire on a ship would volunteer themselves to someone who could afford the ticket, and serve on their farms as indentured servants. Also, some slave owners would set free their slaves, regardless of color, as a reward for good work. Those people, and many were black, could own property. Some of those former slaves would pay for slaves of their own, including indentured servants.
that's interesting, thanks! anyway, I don't think this changes the point I was trying to make, which is that jimmy walker is a comedian, a black one at that, and is entitled to make jokes about slavery. if a white comedian had said that the reaction would have been of course different, because blacks were forced (on a massive scale) to work for whites as slaves. can't understand people who don't seem to get the difference
True, the reaction would be far different. But there's nobody alive who was a slave in the U.S., which makes that difference, which is then based solely on race, rather ironic.
it is rather ironic if you think about it, I suppose. then again, I don't think the traditional stance of the black movement was to obliterate race differences, so much as to take pride in their racial background. so it shouldn't surprise that they define themselves according to race. that said, their history makes all the difference, I don't think you can really label walker as racist for what he said. there's context and there's the fact that he was clearly being ironic

This comment has received too many negative votes show
are you kidding me? "All white people report to the cotton fields for reorientation"? How racist is that comment!
If a white person said that about a black person, they'd be prosecuted.
