@aahlstrom93 No, it has nothing to do with that band. Witchfinder General were NWOBHM with a little touch of early black sabbath, but they were kinda fast to be traditional doom.
@doom696mented Too fast to be traditional doom? Witchfinder General along with others is commonly associated with being one of the first Doom Metal bands! The fact that they were fast doesn't mean anything. Did Sabbath not have fast moments?
@Me6847 Oborn's new singing style kicks ass, too, man. It's the kind of singing that reminds you of Ozzy's style of singing in his early days with Black Sabbath. Just my opinion, though. Anyway, Electric Wizard is great even today.
The movie "Mark of the Devil" is superb if you like old horror movies. The intro is a scene from the film. Albion is - as the lyrics say - the witchfinder.
The sample at the start always reminds me of 'The Great Cornholio'. Every time I hear it, I expect him to say 'I am Albino. You wish to see my bunghole?'
Its amazing how they can play all of these long songs. Just about all of the songs on this album are a little over ten minutes long each. Exept "the hills have eyes" and this one other song. I forgot the name of that song
@ModMob Skull Candy is an awful brand when it comes to headphones, they break easily and are overpriced also back in the days when I owned a pair they were really uncomfortable. Try one of Sony's XB series. Your listening experience will change forever.
@NoZAutonomy Considering ive had mine for a long time and i drop them and bring them to school in my backpack and i got them for $40 from a friend. id say i didnt pay to much and they are pretty sturdy. and mine are really comfortable.
This is the definative EW line-up for me. When the drummer and bass player left and formed Rammesses (pretty damned good themselves and good live still not a patch on the Wizard's Sleeve though) it started to go downhill. Witchcult Today was a somewhat return to form but still everything upto and including Dopethrone is superb with Dopethrone being the pinnacle
@MyGrey007 Hey man i would not disagree with you on that one at all! The trio was the definative line-up and like you said Dopethrone & Come My Fanatics are funnily enough my own picks as EW's standout records. Maybe it will happen one day MyGrey007 and if so i will see you at the the live gigs (well i am in the northwest of england (greater manchester area) so maybe not. I would like that line-up to regroup as much as i am and have been waiting for Confessor's 3rd album...
The Wizard has always made good music (excluding "Let us Prey" which was sludge, which I do not like), and in my opinion, "Dopethrone" is the least standout album of all of theirs.
@Likeyoucare Hey to each their own and its all good. It would be a boring place if everyone liked the exact same thing. I am still waiting for news on that 3rd Confessor record which initially was planned or a 2009 release! I doubt it is going to happen. Still there are always plenty of other releases to look forward to (you may or may not be a fan i do not know) Crowbar's latest for example.
This is my absolute, all-time favorite Electric Wizard song. God, I just love when Justin's finished singing and the music gets all tripped-out, spacey and weird and goes on-and-on and on-and-on and gets more intense and weirder...
@215day Someone made a great video to go with this song but it only lasted 8 minutes. I'd never be able to improve such a good video, so my only goal in making this video was to let the song run as long as possible, and improve on the sound quality. The other video was awesome though, it had scenes from a witch-hunter movie that fits this song perfectly.
Meh.

You won't hear anymore of this very soon. This kind of album - so fucked up, so trippy and gloomy - only comes once every 30 years or so.
