Beautiful. I love the intensity and the feeling in this. I agree with the person who asked about tutorial. I know a little sign language but would love to learn more. You have such a way with your signing that I haven't seen. It was so beautiful. Thank you for making it!
Best version of this I've found so far!!! I love the emotion behind your signs in this vid. If I could 'Like' this ten billion times, I totally would.
i love your videoo:)) right now im in asl and ive had 1 semster and my 2nd semster just started and at the end we have to sign a song and this is the song and ive seen other people sign and they dont compare to urs i love yours so i was wondering if you could make one slowed down so i cant tell your signs more clearly cuz its still a little fast for me
@punkrockchick1212 Thanks! I'm currently in the middle of a move, but I'd be glad to make a slower tutorial. :) (It might be a week or two though though!)
This is definitely my favorite asl video for this song, my brothers deaf and he loves music so we go on youtube every once in a while and look up songs so thank you!
I was wondering what sign you use when the song says "ever ever" I'm new at asl and it's still tough for me to catch the faster signs. does anyone know?
Well anyways your signing was great and really fluid I think, I like it a lot :)
@sasukehating umm its kind of like the sign for why except only the pointer finger touches the head then turns into the letter y. It took me forever to be able to do it that fast! Thanks I just put a few new ones up! Hope you like them too! :)
I LOVE this video. I can't ACTUALLY watch the real video because it makes me cry EVERY TIME! It's my LIFE played in the video. I'm NOT kidding. I'm a cutter and I'm dealing with anorexia too.
@mKryssy42 I've had family who've dealt with both of those things. It's really hard and I hope that you know that there are people out there who love you for who you are and no matter how you look! Know that like the song says you are Fing perfect!
@akaninjafightmaster Thanks! haha I just put up a few news ones! One has to be with no sound though :( but you can play the song next to it. The rest have the sound! :)
This seems more like SEE than ASL. I'm still learning, so I'm not sure. Could you clarify for me? I know that ASL has a much different grammatical structure and some of the vocabulary is different. I think PSE is sort of a mixture of both?
@DarkFaeriePrincess I'm still learning too. I feel like most of my songs (at least the ones I learned in ASL 1 and ASL 2) have way more SEE and PSE in them than ASL. I also like to make sure that the musicality of the song is there too. I also like to do a more literal rendition of the lyrics (while still learning more about the grammatical structure of ASL) during the songs because the lyrics are poetry and I don't really want to change them. PSE is a mixture of both. :)
@JasonTGaffney I can understand that. I write some poetry myself. The whole meaning of it is completely tied to the wording and phrasing. I can definitely see how a different grammatical structure would impact the feel of it. Your rendition of this song is amazing. I still get the meaning and emotion from it. Your facial expressions are great, and from what little I know about glossing, you were wonderful at that, too. I look forward to more great interpretations of songs from you. :)
Heard this on the radio after a really crappy few weeks....my first thought was, yeah...I forgot about that. My second was, gotta run home and watch Jason do this. I guess you could call this MY "It Gets Better" video, for more reasons than you know. Thanks kiddo.
@JasonTGaffney Enjoyed it the first 100 or so times I watched--that time you just made me smile and feel a lot less pitiful. Still waiting (im)patiently for the next round. ;-)
This is the first time hearing this song with both ears. I haven't been able to hear out of my left ear for four years until a few hours ago! I'm so happy, (My jaw kinda hurts right now, but eh) I really love this song (Especially your signed rendition) I am going to sign it for my talent show I think. The whole school knows I'm darn proud to be who I am, and I think this song encapsulates my feelings and those of everyone I know. I love your rendition.
Hi there, I just wanted to tell you that I've watched watched all your videos and I think you're a great signer. :) I wanted to sign this song for a video (I got a request for it), but I wasn't sure how to deal with all the metaphors. This video has really helped, I may be able to do it now! Thank you so much, look forward to seeing more videos from you in the future! :)
@iWearAmask Thanks! I'm still learning but I really love doing sign songs and feel like it helps me get better every day! Hope you put yours up for me to watch! :)
@JasonTGaffney the liiiittle I know about ASL comes from watching videos like yours here on youtube, so I don't know much about that, but I love that it looks like you really feel the emotions behind this song!
@vr4jay We debated it for about ten min in class and felt that this one was a better way to say it. The other way was more about having sex then saying the swear word! :)
I know that my teacher is trying to get us away from english, but I learned more this year, translating my song than ever before. I did the Disturbed version of Land of Confusion, but now that I've seen this song signed, I think I'll do the clean version for the showcase next year. Thankyou, and also, The sounds of the hand smacks kinda added a lil' bit of awesome to the song. Love your emotions too.
@KougasGal101 Thanks so much! I love this song both the clean and the dirty versions so it's easy for me to get into it! How long have you been signing?
@JasonTGaffney Just two years offically, though me, like most people knew a bit beforehand. I'm hard of hearing, so I figured this language would be much more useful than French or German haha. I'm so glad I picked ASL! Not even for the usefulness, but because it is so un and easy to express yourself with. Speaking of which, I love your expressions, I thought I was good with emotives, but you did way better'n me.
@KougasGal101 It's so funny because that was pretty much my same story. I was born with nerve deafness in both ears and hear well enough not to need ASL (I have hearing aids too!) but always felt like I wanted to learn it! I've been taking it for the past year now and love it! (I took some a few years ago, and remembered a bunch of it when I started classes but it was all very basic stuff.) I love the fact that so much of the language is about using your face to express. I also dance...
Wow - I have always admired people who are fluent in sign language - it's such a beautiful language (a bit like admiring someone who speaks French!) & I LOVE your translation of this song! I found myself hitting repeat & trying to copy you (lol due to the repetition my two best words are now f-ing perfect!! Although that could be handy to know!) I've heard of people learning English through songs & can now see how valuable music can be in learning a new language - thanks so much for posting!
@Narrabrite Thank you so much for this wonderful comment! My teacher Jeff Mooney thinks learning through song is one of the best ways too! I feel like I've learned more in the past year then I could've dreamed of! And I love doing the songs too! :)
P!nk is one of my most favorite artist and I think you capture all the emotion that is in this song very well!! Definitely do more of these, Jason. P.S. This would be great on the "Give A Damn" website.
@jamieboy3387 Thanks! I think it is. My friend gave it to me and it says, "don't b h8n on the homos" on it and its from fckh8.com. I really love it! :)
awsome job!!!! i only say a few things were off just cuz i go by what my family signs but i got what u were saying and it was amazing, great job

@Miyori999 That's amazing! Did you get an implant? Or a better hearing aid? (I have hearing aids and have been hearing impaired since birth!)
JasonTGaffney 4 months ago
@JasonTGaffney Yep. I finally got my a hearing aid. My family switched insurances and I finally got approved for a hearing aid.
I was in a car accedent four years ago, some guy was talking on his phone and plowed right into us. My head was injured in that crash. So yeah...
But It was ironic, since my mom's had a hearing aid since she was 28. (She's 47 now) So I've known sign since I was little.
