Personally I think this number is the best of the 70's decennium.I was in my teens then and travelled through Europe on holidays. In the late 70's,everywhere and in every disco you heard this number.Epic...
Possibly the most annoying intro chant of all time. We've all heard gangs of chav girls screaming "oo-ah oo-ah!" on the dancefloor, it makes me want to kill them all ! The sad thing is, the rest of the song is actually legit, especially the nice instrumental mid-section.
Hadn't heard this before. It sucks :( The instrumental part is the only thing worth listening to. I understand it was 1978 and to cut a track like this is it's biggest achievement.
@palomopicon1977 lol at people saying they aren't women. Sorry but they are women, maybe some people would prefer it if they were men but they are not.

@starry2006 No way is the first person pictured in the pink pants a woman. It is clearly a man. The second person in the gangster suit with long blonde hair is a woman. The third person in the gold bikini is a man in drag...
@sporkey95 I found this one & other disco tunes on my dad's records collection when I was 14 (9 years ago), since that time I love disco music, & this one is one of my favorites of all times (also the B-side 1st song: "music fever")
Disco was a revolution socially and musically. And it remains as a significant part of the culture as much as music from the 60s. YMCA, at the time a gay anthem, now a mainstay at American weddings. It's kinda settled history. Also not to disrespect the history of disco, coming from black, latin and gay culture in the USA in the 70s which is also parallel to the civil rights movements that disco helped to achieve by introducing these cultures to the mainstream. Disco is political.
Disco did not start out as an elitist style of music. It was the music of the black and latin clubs first, then the gay clubs. It took on the elitist aura after Studio 54 opened. By then it was mainstream. I still remember thrilling to Donna Summer's "I feel loved" on the radio. I thought "wow this is so futuristic!"
I Love and miss disco!! There was so much openess in everyones attitudes. Clubbing was having a good time. Not just standing against a wall with sunglasses on competing with the more gothic look. Bright collers, gays, lezys, straights, bodies sweaty and ruling the floor. There were drugs out there, but the toxicity allowed one to be fuctional. I miss the 70's and 80's.
open letter to belladeballe: TELL IT! As a fellow child of the 70's, I can tell all you youngsters out there that every one who hated disco back when has gone on to have a direct hand in making the world the pest hole it is today. We all need to forget the hate and let the love back in.
