For you arm chair bassists out there, picking is just another technique as is strumming, fingering, hammering, slapping etc.... weather or not he was using a pick or not is neither here nor there. The dude is rockin in my opinion, nice job. I happen to believe Getty Lee is one of the better bassists out there, and anyone that can copy his talent is allright in my book. Rock on sicmick!

bass i'm using is a crappy yamaha starter pack bass. ERB070. i am not using a pick in this video. i put my thumb and index fingers together and played with my fingernail on that part.

yeah, my friend got a used bass for $100, but it still plays really well, he doesn't play that one much, since its a four string, he uses an ESP now, a pretty nice 5-string, if you wanna see it, its in one of the videos on my channel, check it out if you want to.

lol, I find it funny with all the haters on this, I stopped posting videos because even when I titled it "HORRIBLY WRONG VERSION, JUST MESSING AROUND" I'd still get the "you suck" comments.... honestly you can't please everyone.

Anyways, loved the cover of the song, nice fills and extra bits - I think it was a good take on the song. Also, who cares about using a pick or your nail or whatever, I had to use pick for awhile because of my fingers - you can use both each have their own sound.

Great video. I play this song too on bass along with other Rush songs and it's really fun. Don't listen to the people who say you suck. The person who said they were better than you probably was just lying, and even if they could play it better they probably know little to no music theory or anything. Keep it up.

hey, well the pickups in my bass are Dimarzio Will Power P pickups. They have alot of mids. And then I used my Digitech BP200 Processor, its not really overdrive, its just a preset i made that sounds aggresive and hot.

This is a great rendition! Lots of embellishment and following the drums. I barly noticed it the first time, but you switch from fingers to pick during this tune....very exciting stuff.  The best part was following the verse and of course, the prelude to the solo. rock on!

thanks a lot, yeah, I use a pick from time to time, but in this case I used my index finger as a pick to get a more agressive tone. Just put your index finger on your thumb and use your fingernail as a pick. thanks again!

Just one opinion, based on the fact that I have that song very embedded in my "subconscious": I feel you are (sort of) overplaying at certain spots in which long notes are enough, like 1:11-1:13, 1:33-1:42 and 2:42-2:50. Of course, that's a valid approach. Again, it's just that it collides with what I have in my mind.
