@WeIsEwe33 well, on our rez, if you wanted "authentically made" ones it usually costs around $100 to $115 for actual animal hide. Or you can use canvas. They're actually very easy to make.
What did you make them out of? I'm a Jicarilla Apache, and we use tanned elk hide or canvas for our boots and raw hide for the soles, and I've made several pairs. Traditionally, we would put animal furs in our boots for warmth in the winter. But only two straps, on the ankle and above the thigh.
@cowboyfromkettins I talked to one guy who would use leather from old jackets, upholstery and such. I found the best deals on Ebay from Leatherguymn. I got like 19square foot for just under $50 shipped.
hoping I can find a craft store in my area in Pennsylvania that has patterns for these exact boots your showing . I really want a pair but can't find them online to buy for men ,everything I find is for women. I would really like to find a video that shows a lot more detail of the process as I'm a more hands on kind of guy when it comes to learning a new trade so all videos I've found so far leave to many questionable areas of the sewing.
I've been looking for a good pair of moccasins for hunting. Yours look comfortable, but not very tough. I walk through brush and creeks alot during the winter. What would you recommend for this type of climate? Usually no colder than 30 degrees.
These are amazing. I'm wondering if they are waterproof and if there;s anything you found you can do to make them so. Also you said that you made them larger for slipper socks, what are the socks made from? - wool?
This was a really informative video. I've been doing a lot of hiking and I finally put on a pair of moccasins and it was like hiking on air but I need some very high boots. Will you be able to post the pattern or give a link to instructions for the boots you are wearing?
@RootBoot22 if you have a raw hide sole you shouldnt slip easily on rocks or dirt, but its hell on 'modern' floors, ie linolium or tiles

Where did you get the pattern from

Sorry I didnt get back to you sooner. I bought the Pattern for these Moccasins boots at a Pow-Wow.
However you can find it at a Native American craft store. You can also find it online by goggling
Moccasins pattern. Out of all the Moccasins boots I have made these are the easiest to make.
Good luck and let me know how you make out.
